Two tips: I think the problem usually comes from returning multiple towels and them not changing the number in the computer so clearly tell them how many you're returning. Also, on the last night go ask how many towels you have out. If you still have any tell them its wrong and you want them to fix it. They did for me. We are on HOTS & could pick some up in Ft Lauderdale - arriving a day early. I started to bring towels last summer with the grandkids. I decided that I did not want the worry about “watching ” those stupid towels and not them or nagging for that matter. Quality, I’m not sure... but I know where they have been and the use of them. We leave on the 17th for the oasis with 3 kids in tow this time and I’m bringing each a character towel and a couple of c&a towels still in package I received as my gift which is easy to pack. We sail on Princess a lot and they don’t seem to worry about towels. At one time RCL stopped the charge, I guess too many people like souvenirs. I turn in the used towels at the end of the day and get fresh ones that I bring to the cabin for the next day. So my seapass gets scanned once on the first day and once on the last day. I called as soon as I got home and was told to call back in two days. When I called back, they said they had to contact the ship for verification. It took almost 3 weeks to get the refund. But I'd still rather charge my onboard account than use cash. It's 2% cheaper. What the heck was the ship going to do? Took out 3 towels on day 3, exchanged them for clean towels on day 5, returned all 3 on day 6. I checked my account balance before retiring the last night and I owed @ $20. My wonderful stateroom attendant personally handed me my bill in the am and I was charged $150 for 6 towels!!!! I usually don't check the paper bill, glad my stateroom attendant was looking out for me. Only a 2 minute wait at Guest Services to have the charge removed. It’s self-service, and if you need to take them to your room, the room attendant will get them when he/she cleans the room. Very convenient, and no hassle or incorrect charges. They probably want to avoid people taking an abundance of towels every day, carelessly leaving them all over the pool deck (or behind at port) and going back for more fresh ones. I know at several all inclusive resorts where they don’t charge or track towels, I see people with six towels each in the mornings, lining their beach chairs, making pillows and foot rests, and then leaving them behind on the beach as they move to the pool area and getting fresh ones for there. It not only uses up towels for other guests, it also creates a lot more laundry and waste water. I don’t mind the towel charge, it encourages us to be more mindful of waste and I haven’t had a problem with extra charges. gerelmx Posted June 9, 2018 #41 Share Posted June 9, 2018 Last cruise was on the Eclipse 03/18/18 Beach towels are yellow and delivered to the cabin you need to return them to the cabin to avoid the charge, pool towels are blue, you can pick them at the pool area without scanning your sea card. Maybe they need permission from the ship to refund onboard spending amounts after the fact because that's ship revenue. There's no way they could prove or disprove the towels though. Our cabin steward took some left on the bathroom floor when cleaning our room, and we took 6 with us to Coco Cay, all of which were hastily returned in a single pile when we got back aboard, as we were rushing to get to medical because my wife and daughter had the misfortune of encountering a jellyfish. A charge for 100$ in my folio Last day of the cruise I check out 2 towels n returned before 5pm and I have the next day another charge for 50$ Honestly this system is not really working. They are laundered in the same facilities and using the same process as the sheets and the towels, etc. in your stateroom. Are you bringing your own of those also?
