poss Posted June 15, 2018 #26 Share Posted June 15, 2018 Marc, When you have a chance, please, could you respond whether what I described in my post (#17) was more or less ok? It matters very little, but I'm just curious.
liptastic Posted June 15, 2018 #27 Share Posted June 15, 2018 Marc, I also find this an interesting and fun thread. Unfortunately I don’t seem to be able to post my vote and I’ve tried a few times.:( Can you put the reply in for me? Both myself and husband in the age 55 to 59 category. Thanks Jean. MalbecWine Posted June 15, 2018 #28 Share Posted June 15, 2018 (edited) Again there is no problem with this poll. Just one person disagrees. Nobody needs to know where any of us live only if we want to divulge it. Age skews to be older on luxury lines and we have sailed all of them. I would guess that 75% have an AARP card. Now look at the mainstream party lines...those folks for the most part cannot afford a luxury cruise at their time in life but will in the future. Most of us all started cruising on mass market lines and got spoiled by them. Regent and other luxury lines will see in the future different demographics of cruisers and the lines will need to adapt to them. Face it the old guard will eventually be out. That’s life. Focused1 Posted June 15, 2018 #29 Share Posted June 15, 2018 In my opinion, this gives a skewed look at the age of Regent passengers. What it shows is the ages of the posters on CC rather than ages of those that sail on Regent. There have been many people under the age of 50 on our cruises which is not reflected in this poll. And, as I've said with other polls, no one knows if the voters even sail on Regent. If I read this poll and was considering Regent for the first time, I'd think that I would be sailing in an old folks home (a reputation that HAL already has and it would be a shame if that was how Regent was thought of). There is so much more to the Regent Experience than age, sex, ethnicity, religion or country of residency. I do find it interesting that when I ask posters to indicate their country of residency and prior cruise history, people don't want to post - even though this information helps in responding to posters. Yet, when asked your age many are forthcoming. Go figure! Why don’t you start your own survey post, then???

Travelcat2 Posted June 15, 2018 #32 Share Posted June 15, 2018 What possible relevance is the age of a reader/poster on Cruise Critic? would you also propose polls on: hair color (natural or enhanced)? height and/or weight? marital status? current gender and/or gender preference? The site is Cruise Critic; names are anonymous. I am opting out of your "poll". I’m with you. Interesting thread before it became snarky

It matters very little, but I'm just curious. Poss, this isn't a scientific poll so matters not; some couples both are active on CC while others only one is online so I imagine others have done same as you. JMARINER Posted June 16, 2018 #35 Share Posted June 16, 2018 Well I for one would like to see many more people answer this poll. After all, we can't see how individual posters voted! And in fact I have no problem telling people my age. I just turned 70, the big four score and ten. Wendy shhhhhhhhh. pingpong1 Posted June 16, 2018 #37 Share Posted June 16, 2018 I agree with all you said with one exception FICO scores. One must be applying for credit to do a hard inquiry and need not to provide their social security number. We have never provided ours to any cruise line only passport and visa numbers. Hi Malbec - Did you know that when you go to a car dealership and want to "test drive" one of their cars, there's a reason why they ask for your driver's license and "disappear" for a couple of minutes before coming back and returning your license to you?? It's because the Business Manager has used the time to run a "credit check" on you to be sure that you are a "financially worthy customer" before they entrust you (and waste valuable time) in demonstrating and trying to sell you one of their cars. They're getting a "read" on what kind of car they can sell you and what kind of price that you can afford/qualify for. Regards.
pingpong1 Posted June 16, 2018 #38 Share Posted June 16, 2018 TC2 - News Flash - 96.2% (not really) of all the folks who sail on the "mass market lines" already think that everyone (like us) who sail on the "Luxury" Cruise Lines have just gotten our 2-week "freedom passes" from our assisted living communities to "hobble" onto a Regent ship for a little enjoyment, as the funeral director prepares our final resting place for us. And why should we even care what anyone else thinks? Why is it so vitally important what others (positively?) think about Regent? As long as Regent remains in business! I actually don't want Regent becoming too popular with the "masses". Let them blissfully play on their Royal Caribbean, Carnival, and Princess Cruises, with all their young families, and enjoy themselves. Let them wait (like I had to) until they get their AARP cards before finding out about our little "secret"! Regent seems to be having no problem filling their ships. No cruise line will need to do a credit check on you unless you are applying for Casino credit. I sold cars when I was younger and we did need the SS to run through the credit score. Everything is on your DL.

mamapirk Posted June 16, 2018 #43 Share Posted June 16, 2018 Another very simple poll; what are the ages of those that frequent this board. Mid-60’s for us. Wendy The Wanderer Posted June 16, 2018 #45 Share Posted June 16, 2018 Wendy, remember 70 is the new 50 and you look great in your photo on CC. Cruising is definitely a cure for aging and we always look better coming home from a cruise. Yeah, well that pic is 8 years old I think, lol! But yes, 70 is definitely the new 50. Focused1 Posted June 16, 2018 #46 Share Posted June 16, 2018 Some posters have asked when this thread became snarky (rather than having a discussion/debate). It started with posts 29, 30, 31 and continued with 40, 41, 42. Not sure if some posters just want to be snarky or follow the lead of other posters. Discussing, disagreeing or agreeing is a good thing but, In my opinion, there is no place for rudeness on CC. Although it is best to ignore these types of posts, I thought it was a good idea to highlight them - at least on this thread. Certainly not meant to be, as you say.... snarky. My point is that you seemed concerned about the method used by the TS and the accuracy of the potential results given the low percentage of Regent cruisers who actually post on Cruise Critic. I thought maybe you had a better idea of obtaining more accurate results that would meet your standard. As far as I am concerned, I see the TS as setting up a fun survey that would probably be of interest to posters. Nothing more.

Absolutely, it is a fun thread and if you can’t have a bit of fun I don’t know what is. Hey, I’m no spring chicken but I voted in the poll as well as my husband. I don’t consider any of the comments to be snarky in the least. We are just a small group of people here and should be able to set up a poll without retribution from others. Anbody agree? My apologies I just realized this was in a specific forum for “Regent”. I just looked at recent topics on the app. I have not been on regent, That being said I enjoy relaying with a good drink and I don’t particularly enjoy kids running around while I’m trying to relax Sent from my iPhone using Forums
