Cheers to $20 max drink?

Much ado about nothing, UNLESS Carnival raises their drink prices above $20.00 per drink on certain brands.

Then it will mean something. Having a $ 50.00 drink which is nearly impossible to find was crazy to begin with.

Carnival COULD lower the upper limit to $13 like Royal has.

Being that the drinks and Casino are where cruise lines make a great deal of their profits, can't foresee that happenening.

Not saying it can't but highly unlikely.

Blerk is tryng to throw as much shade at the other cruise lines as possible to make CCL shine brighter.

Sadly not any one cruise line is better is every aspect. Each cruise line does certain things better than others.

I think for me where CCL really shines are their food choices outside the MDR.

Given that the more valuable casino players get free drinks, it would make sense to lower the limit there, too.

Which would be a 50%+ increase on the most expensive drinks. I “suspect” that will not happen any time soon.

Honestly won't have an effect on me with the Cheers package. The average cost of the drinks I like are around $11 or $12. Never tried or looked for the highest drinks anyhow.

Will it effect some? Yes, but not as many and people are crying about on this thread. Now if they max it to $15 or $10, I could see the uproar.

No, actually after working for many years as head Cruise Director, he was promoted to Brand Ambassador. Not quite CEO status.

He also has the largest travel blog as well. Title wise, he is fairly well down on the corporate ladder, but in a unique to the industry position, and a pretty nice guy to boot.

Exactly that's why this whole uproar means nothing. Most drinks fall under $20.00

Let the whiners continue to complain.

Had the pleasure of meeting him back in January of 2013 when we sailed on the Breeze the week before his blogger's cruise. Will see him again later this week since he is going to be on the Horizon.

I first met him when I worked for CCL. He is a really nice guy, and genuinely cares about the enjoyment of the guests, and really loves the company he works for.

I sailed with him once as the CD... Triumph 2000, and he was the best CD to date for us. Hilarious... will never ever forget that bedtime story at the welcome aboard show. So scripted, but hilarious.

Yep. Just like the whole conspiracy about Platinums and Diamonds not having priority access to the staterooms a few months ago that everyone was getting in a tizzy about. Everyone likes to get worked up over nothing.

How do you choose to do the Cheers ? We are on a 7 Day with ports daily. We don't plan to be off the boat the entire time in port. Probably 5 hours each day. Do you think it is worth the package ? I am having a hard time deciding!

There are several spreadsheets wandering around here, but the consensus is from an alcohol perspective between 7 and 8 drinks a day, keep in mind it includes bottled water, milkshakes and other items.

As I have mentioned in other threads, your statements about current pricing are correct. Today. Who knows about tomorrow?

Well, before this lowering-of-threshold, there was no indication or facts that said Carnival was going to do so, was there? They did this for a reason (it costs money to make any change, no matter how slight - meetings, approvals, reviews, etc), and if there is essentially nothing right now on the drink menu that would be affected, why did they bother? My suspicions are that the drinks that were $15 to $17 are going to have "price adjustments to reflect current market conditions" and suddenly be $20.95.

I hope I am wrong, though for the most part it won't affect me unless the Alchemy Bar drinks suddenly go above $20, so I'm not whinging about it, per se. Just trying to think through the logical conclusions of what other changes are likely to follow as a result.

Quite wishing for bad luck and knocking on wood!! Pure spec. Needless worry.

Considering water, coffee, tea, milk, lemonade and other fruit juices are included in your cruise fare, do you plan on budgeting over $50 per adult per day on other beverages?

If so Cheers makes economic sense.

Depends. I assume there is two of you in the cabin. Would you spend $120 between you two on drinks per day? I normally say if you have a hard time finding value in it, it's probably not worth it for you.

We are on a 7 day with three ports and purchase the package. While I don't plan on being drunk every day (light weight here), if I want it, I can have it and I don't have to worry about surprises later. I love my fancy coffees and bottle water and they are included as well. Having to worry about what I spend on-board is not on my vacation agenda.
