If you were old enough you probably would have used the term at some time in the distant past. No one who says it means it as a racial slur.
I also used other words when I was younger as well. Today those are racial slurs, end of story

I have read this whole discussion and I totally agree with the OP. If it was me I would go on the ship and demand my GS cabin that was given too me. It’s clear they took it away from him and gave it to someone else who paid more or had “status”

Maybe they should go to the cabin and make a scene. [emoji848][emoji6]

Unfortunately, they do have the right to change a guaranteed room assignment up until sailing. I know you are disappointed, but I am sure you will have a wonderful honeymoon. Congratulations.

Where does it say this in writing?

From the T&C's

1.8 WHAT IS A ‘GUARANTEE’ (GTY) BOOKING?

We may (at our discretion) offer you the option of making a ‘Guarantee’ (GTY) booking. This means

you may book a stateroom of a guaranteed minimum category type, (specified by us prior to

booking) on your chosen ship. However, the exact location of the stateroom on the ship will be

allocated by us (at our discretion) and at any time up until checking in at the Port. Once your

GTY stateroom has been allocated to you, we are unable to accept any changes requested by

you. The benefits to you of a GTY stateroom are that, after your booking has been confirmed, we

may (at our discretion) upgrade your stateroom to one of a superior category to that originally

booked at no extra charge to you. In any event, you are ‘guaranteed’ the minimum category of

stateroom we agree to offer at the time of booking. The stateroom we allocate will be suitable for

the number of guests occupying it and this may mean you are allocated a room with upper berths

which are accessed by a ladder. Upper berths may only be used by guests over 6 years old so GTY

staterooms are not recommended for young families. If you have a specific requirement regarding

your stateroom, or stateroom location, or are travelling with family or friends, (especially children)

you want to be near, then we suggest you do not book a GTY. At times, we may offer promotional

GTY offers. Such promotional GTY categories are defined as follows:

WS – Suite Guarantee *

XB – Ocean View Balcony Guarantee

XN – Neighborhood Balcony Guarantee

YO – Ocean View Guarantee

ZI – Interior Guarantee

* – Suite layouts and benefits vary by category. We may allocate you an entry level suite without a

balcony and/or which does not include the same benefits as a higher grade

Please note: If you book 2 or more cruises to be taken back to back and either one or all

cruises are booked under a GTY basis, there is the possibility that you will be allocated different

staterooms on each cruise, therefore necessitating the need to move between staterooms on the

changeover day between your back to back cruises.

Your Guarantee is allocated by them, at their discretion. If they want to change it then they are perfectly in their rights to do so. You paid a lower price for your guarantee than you would have a full price JS / GS. Unfortunate outcome, but that's the way it is.

Yes, it went the the person who paid for a GS not a W cabin. As for status, it doesn't mean a thing. Honeymoon or Anniversary doesn't matter either. It is the $$$ that matter and Royal took the higher money making route when they could sell the GS and change the cabin selection for the OP. Defintly not nice, but not baiting and switching as some have stated.

They were promised at least a JS with the W rate and thats what they received. As I have stated earlier perhaps the OP will get a nice surprise at check-in. I hope they do.

In all honesty if this happened to me prior to my wedding I wouldn't be happy. However I would be spending more time thinking about finializing the wedding plans VS taking on the board of CC which has no effect on RC actions. There are more important things to organize days before a wedding, at least that was the case in our house hold.

Right, but you do know I was assigned a cabin number. I respect you on here and your reviews. What would you honestly do if this happened to you. Room number assigned and all...

Funny story. This happened to me. I "bought" a JS guarantee once. It was a "great" price. I expected a JS. Two weeks before the trip, I saw my room number. I was shocked. I was happy. I jumped for joy. Looked at my wife, and said, what we got, but told her, this has to be a mistake, because we only paid for a JS. Days ticked by, and the room did not change. We kept thinking it would change. It never did.

I feel the pain, although my room did not change, I can see why it would be painful for you. Like winning a jackpot, and discovering that you didn't. Bait and Switch? No, not even close. You got what you paid for. Dissappointing? Yes, but so goes life.

Any company that would change is bait and switching. Then to offer you someone minuscule from the flower department is a slap in the face. Especially on our honeymoon. I can’t keep up with this thread but I’m waiting for a call back this morning from resolutions, it seems like they have something they want to offer me.

I hear they are now using the term Indigenous Peoples

No more Indian or Native American

Fwiw...I've never heard the term "Indian giving" used by anyone older than a 10yo. It was odd to hear the op use it.

Also I haven't even heard a 10yo use that term in decades.

Op really? Just wondering did you say that to the rccl rep on the phone?

You really do need to look up "Bait and Switch".

A bait is something used to entice the buyer into a purchase.

The "bait" in this case was the offer of a suite at a cheap price.

You accepted this offer.

A "switch" is to then provide something different to what was offered in the "bait".

Where has this happened?

Give it up. You are getting exactly what you paid for. You are entitled to nothing else, including flowers.

Based on your posts here on CC, you have been on a cruise at least every 7 weeks, so should really know how these things work by now.

If you really think RCI have done something wrong, get a lawyer and take them to court.

I would try calling RC one more time to see if I had any luck. I doubt I would luck out but you never know.

Regretfully, there are some people who have to cancel at the last minute due to unfortunate reasons. When you call you could play the honeymoon card. I personally feel they would do what they could to make it come true. However, if the ship is sold out above JS there is not much they can do for a W. However, if the GS means that much you could also ask to be put on the paid upgrade list. After all you have been through though, I doubt you want to pay more.

I can attest a JS is a pretty killer room, especially after being a regular cabin a few weeks ago. I know the promise of the GS to be swapped to a JS can be defeating but this is your honeymoon. You do however have a drink package and meal package so roll with it. Our family has had some crappy things happen, like all, but we roll with it and make the best of a bad thing. We had too, we made it no other option in our house.

From your good list of previous cruises it won't be your last. It will be a story that hopefully you can joke about at some point, just not in the next few days. Make the call, don't spend more time here and keep your fingers crossed at the pier.

We usually sail in Star Class but I have always said you just need to be onboard. That's what we did with our recent 4 day booking and we had just as much fun in the "last balcony"on board than where you might normally find us.

Good luck and Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

An assigned room and number in my book is a promise.

A promise is NOT a contract.

Read your terms and conditions and especially those of a guarantee.

The T&C says that no changes BY YOU. It does not preclude changes by THEM. As long as they give you SOME suite.

I agree, you started reasonable, but now you sound like a whiny child.

I’m just asking for a reasonable resolution, that’s all. Not flowers on my honeymoon, I already have plenty of those. I’m not a child, it’s principal here, not money, not stateroom size, not perks. PRINCIPAL

They don't care if it's your honeymoon. I'd call up every time and tell them it's my honeymoon if it gave me the chance of better perks, as would everyone else.

Your reasonable resolution is to get a stateroom in the category you purchased. Which you have been given.

There was a gs assigned to me with a room number. It’s mine.

I think you'll find it's Royal Caribbean's

We booked a suite guarantee for our upcoming cruise and got a 2 bed grand Suite. Needless to say we are thrilled.

However I check the planner daily to make sure they haven’t changed their minds and changed it to a JS.

Don’t get me wrong. If they do we will be gutted but we would also accept it as that’s what we expect with a W booking. It can change to anything in that category until sailing. I hope it doesn’t and will keep checking but if it does we still paid less than what a JS would have cost us and I certainly wouldn’t be on here kicking off.

Find it interesting that you deliberately tried to initially withhold the fact it was a guarantee booking at the start so expect you know they are completely within their rights to switch you

what would have happened if they gave you a GS and then later changed it to a higher room? would you have complained saying that you were already booked for a GS and you refuse to take the higher room ... because once they give you a room... they cant take it back right?

Op says she has taken 130 cruises. But doesn't understand the workings of a garunteed cabin??

I booked a suite gaurentee once.

On a daily basis almost my room changed from inside to balcony to ocean view . I have learned from these boards that will happen. And you never really know what your gonna get til you show up. (And i got a js)

So I'm thinking when a grand suite showed up, she thought she got over. When the js showed up, she got what she paid for.

For someone with so many cruises, and is on these boards. I find it hard to believe you don't know what could happen. That you would get what you paid for. Sorry no sympathy here.
