I read on another social media site that Captain Johnny has either posted or emailed that he will be on Icon in January.  Looks like his skin cancer treatments were successful.

Just left Harmony yesterday - enjoyed sailing with Captain James once again! Had rough seas most every night to the point that the aqua show couldn't be performed with the divers throughout the entire cruise, so I'm sure he's ready for smoother seas this week.  Fortunately we had already seen the show before, but I felt bad for those who missed how amazing it is.

Toni Kalne currently on Anthem - he started 17th December 2023.  He's doing well sailing us on extremely rough seas down to the Bahamas

Sailing Odyssey on Saturday, a few of the activities on the app are listed as being with Captain Sindre. I thought he'd left OY but nice surprise if he's still there. Will let you know when I hear who it is on sailaway.

 

Whoever it is, I'm glad they do Captains Corner unlike some!

Who was the captain of Wonder of the Seas for October 2023?  I found him to be the most personable, friendly, funny, and interesting captain to date.

 

Looking through the thread, perhaps it was Rob Hempstead?

Yup, that's who it should have been in October. I don't think Capt Trym has the same reputation as Capt Rob. But there are people who say Capt Trym is funny and personable too, to a certain extent.

Sorry to be late but can confirm it was Captain Per on Odyssey 12/23, must have been a mistake in the app. He's pretty good. Odyssey is a happy ship so that says something about those running it.

But it all depends on if Capt Loy does the inaugural and if Capt Johnny is on with Henrik for couple of weeks overlap since might be first visit for Johnny.

Also Johnny likes to rotate 11 or 12 weeks.

 

I am on first week of May and I think I have pretty good chance of Capt Loy.

Either way I have sailed with both and enjoy each as captain. One smiles more and rides scooter and the other is quite easy to understand and explains thing well.

Each is from Norway. One is quite tall and the other is shorter.

 Capt Johnny is one of the most senior in the fleet having started with sovereign class.

Interesting fact is both captains were the shipyard takeout captain in 2016. 
Capt Loy on Ovation and Capt J on Harmony.  That year Harmony got more attention and Ovation quietly went to China.

So perhaps as we get closer I can get my answer. Doesn't make a difference to me but my grandsons just love Capt. Johnny....and are hoping to sail with him again.

Don't know if anyone remembers Capt Leif Otto Bang. His wife was Darlene from Key West. He passed away 2-14-23 from advanced dementia and lung cancer. His wife Darlene isn't that healthy either.
