May be incorrect in my memory, but Carnival's first ship, the Mardi Gras, had been a Canadian Pacific ship, the Empress of ???, and Mr. Arison chose to keep the same funnel colors for whatever reason. I'm should have known that. I think my first Transatlantic was actually a CP Marine ship, the Canmar courage (but definitely not a cruise ship).
