New bonus precruise casino promotion

There is a promotion on the Celebrity cruise planner that if you pre-purchase casino credit for promotional chips you get a 20% bonus i.e. pay $50 but get $60. You can purchase multiples of this but there is a limit. We had extra OBC which we used for this as we were already planning on going to the casino. The promotion is in the section with internet packages. I had to enter each multiple separately in the shopping cart after the first $50pp. Make sure you print out your order summary as they are presently having a glitch with email confirmations.

In case you're still monitoring this thread.

Did you get the special "promotional" chips that can only be turned back into nonrefundable OBC on your account or the regular ones that can be turned in for cash.

just a heads up....someone reported that the blackjack tables are now paying 6:5 on a blackjack unless you are at the $50 min table which still pays 3:2.  That eliminates Blackjack for me (and should eliminate it for everyone else too).

Yes it seems to have changed to 10% discount from the original 20% discount when they originally introduced this in November.  The problem I have is that although I have a printout of my cruise planner which states $60 in play if I look at my cruise planner order summary today it says $55.  I plan on taking my printout from November along with me.  I hope I don't have to make a big stink to get what I purchased.  I had reported the receipt problem to Captains Club and they still have an IT ticket open on it.  I also complained about the details of my purchase changing in my order summary.  It sure seems they should have a different product code for the 10% vs the 20% deals.

I'll let you know after I get back from my sailing at the end of January if I had any problems.

I too purchased a 20% discount, which of course I have a print out of, and now my Order History shows only the 10%. I will carry the print outs as well and will just ask for a refund if they choose not to honor it.

Yeah, it's really bad.  This is pretty much becoming the standard in Vegas too (on low stakes tables).  When I first encountered it I was pretty pissed off.  I found a few casinos that sometimes offered 3:2 on $10 tables, but it is getting very rare - even downtown.  Over time I have just resigned myself to it.  Since I play for entertainment using the basic strategy, I don't expect to win.  My wife and I really enjoy going to the casino after dinner.  It's where we have made some great cruise friends.  We still enjoy playing and just resigned ourselves to the lower odds.  I can understand where you're coming from though.  If the sense of being ripped off by the lower odds means you won't enjoy playing, you definitely shouldn't play.

For both of my upcoming sailings my cruise planner now only shows the 10% bonus instead of the 20% bonus that the promotion offered when I booked. I called Celebrity. They apparently have only one of my sailings correct on their end but it is still not reflected correctly in the cruise planner. As we all know, their IT department stinks.

Please let me know what happened when you get back from your cruise.  I, also purchased the casino play when it was $50 for $60 and I had the same problem with getting an actual receipt for my purchase.  When I called Customer Service they told me my purchase went thru but they couldn't send me anything????  I will be cruising February 8th.  Good luck.

Don't know if you are back from your cruise.  Wondering how you made out on the pre-cruise casino play.  Did you receive the $60 for $50?  I am cruising Feb 8.

Just back today.  Everything was correct onboard with the 20% discount.  The

only weird thing was he asked how many we bought.  Should have said 10!

Do you mind telling what's the table minimum for blackjack now? Thanks.

Were all of the chips promo chips?

Do they really not know how many you bought?  I bought chip and slot play for myself, my wife and son.  I don't remember the exact breakout  (my credit card records will show the total spent, but not the breakout).

Heads up to anyone thinking of purchasing these. If you read the fine print it says you cannot earn any Blue Chip Club points while playing on this credit.

But don't you get points from your original purchase if you point them out to the casino host?

Sorry was playing slots so don't know what the Black Jack table limits were.  Did do Roulette to use match play coupons from Captains Club and the min there was $5 so could do Red/Black.

I'm not sure if they knew how many I bought or not.  I thought it was strange he asked how many.

Heads up on the promo chips.  Bought a bunch of promo chips not happy with how they handle it at the table.  On the craps table, I put the promo chip on the line as well as for my odds, but when I won they did not replace the promo ones with a regular chip, they left it there.  Which means the only time you can get rid of them is if you lose them.  I've never been anywhere where promo chips aren't automatically replaced with playable chips you can go to the cage with when you win.

It has been that way since they started......as long as you win, they leave the chip(s).  When you lose, they take the promotional chips.  Essentially, if you buy $100 worth of promotional chips, you have to lose $100 in chips.  Sounds bad, but no one wins every hand....and I certainly lose 10 hands at a $10 blackjack table over the course of an hour.  I also win regular chips and hopefully, I leave with more than the $100 I lost during the normal course of plan.  Just remember to always bet promotional chips when you have them.

Now don't get me started on the 6:5 odds on blackjacks....now that's something to be unhappy with....
