I have been wondering about this. It seems so odd given the number of available cabins and how close we are to the sail date. It doesn't seem like a C class has sold for months. Maybe they don't want to do major discounting as it may perceptually "cheapen" the Edge brand.

I like to track prices so I can get an idea of the strategy. I think you are right... short term loss of revenue... but longer term helps keep prices higher overall... good for establishing a premium image... yes if you discounted you might make more overall... but people who paid a higher price would be ticked off and those booked in January would be thinking *****.... better to lose the revenue short term.

I am paying $5400pp on an S2 accessible for New Years. A few years back on the S class my wife and I were sailing on a sky suite and a week before the cruise my ta called and offered my mother in law an outside cabin for $850, it was spring time or close time.

so, you may be correct.

 Thanks jc

Something like these chairs on the Reflection would be nice I think.

That's what we have been used to on the S Class S1's and they have been kind enough to bring a lounger that my DH can place flat. The table is great for breakfast or a nice dinner.

Hey Marilyn from VT (AKA Wonder Woman on Celebrity Eclipse),

Haven't seen you mention the casino. And I know from past voyages that the casino is a favorite hang-out of yours. Don't tell me that you're now a member of "GA"--Gamblers Anonymous!

And you're a wealth of info for other Edgers. Thank you for sharing yourself & your vacation with all of us.

As far as not sharing any selfies with us, I can only assure everyone that you are stunningly beautiful, both inside & out. Taking selfies would only detract from the subject at hand.

Let me know if you think we should get reservations beyond the ones we've already made. Reservations for dinner on the MC can only be made on-board, right? We have reservations for FCSH & Le Petite Chef only. Would you suggest anymore?

Counting down to our Jan 20th cruise!

If you want a sinful evening, I would suggest Eden. We are going tonight - I'll fill everyone in tomorrow - can't wait for the Crescendo at midnight!  This could be interesting!! 😉

Marilyn, would you let us know if the Eden stage lights flash in your eyes while you’re dining? We have an Eden reservation, but I am a little concerned about the lighting (migraine trigger). Thanks, Michelle

Will do! I'll be taking my Excedrin before I go!

Glad to hear that they brought you a lounger. It was definitely something needed for that balcony and many others. It will be interesting to see what happens from here on with other sailings.

In your chatting with some of the officers/crew, do you get a sense that they are genuinely going to find a solution to some of the issues like balcony furniture and etc.

By the way, I guess "Pole Gate" wasn't that bad when you saw those cabin

Thanks again. Enjoy!

VT we’ve had similar furniture (as in pics posted by Tall Cruiser) in Concierge on S-class and Aqua on M-class. Much more useful lol.

Definitely better balcony furniture!  Hope they change something if not for EDGe for APEX.  I love to sit on the balcony and put my feet up and recline a bit. (Plus elevating your feet is healthier.) Obviously, it doesn't look like I'll be doing that anytime soon.  Really disappointed.  I do hope Celebrity is reading all these comments.

I agree with you. I would like to do the same in my Concierge cabin. Noooooooo, not just for Apex passengers. We need them to make changes for Edge passengers too! There’s still time before our sailings, ecslady😉  Celebrity, are you listening to your loyal patrons? Celebrity? Hellooooooo? All grousing and joking aside, I’m sure I’ll find many things to love about Edge. However, I’m not certain I’ll think my introductory experience is worth the premium fare if I should find the IV cabin design and decor lacking. Some IV features look great, while others appear very ill conceived indeed. Even so, if the crew is as fantastic as usual, they may well help make up for other deficiencies😊Fingers crossed🙂

Maybe they can make changes before you sail, but I doubt for me sailing in a week.  Maybe I will just have to imagine "my balcony furniture " similar to the way I imagine "being gently rocked to sleep" in my own bed when I really need a cruise fix.

We are going there tonight. Wish me luck! Thee are some weird characters hanging out there at night...😉

Vt, would you mind posting the Eden dinner menu? I mainly  was wondering if it was predominantly seafood. I thought I read here that  it was and a no go for the poster as she doesn't eat seafood. I don't eat seafood either, so it would be a no go for me, too. I was really looking forward to experiencing Eden.

Oh. You’re right. Will you be in an IV or SS? It would help if they’d even put a second Tom Tom in your stateroom (to use as footstools). I hope you’ll post your impressions😊 I also hope you have a wonderful time!

OMG the balcony furniture 😱 we're booked on CS for our parents and SS for us, no way they will manage to bend over such tiny low tables, they will break their backs! We will survive, however while we're at it, for NCL's Haven we paid half of Celebrity Edge's price, our room was much larger with decent table & chairs, sofa, footstool, coffee table in the room and on the balcony adult sized table, chairs plus lounger. Truly hope Celebrity will replace the balcony furniture at least (we are still "surprised" the final CS interior is very different from the first images shown on their website at the time of our booking...). Thank you Marilyn and everyone for sharing very useful information!

We loved our IV Concierge cabin.  The IV makes the cabin look larger, it’s very private and the window can be lowered to any level.  Our cruise was quite chilly so we just lowered the window a couple of inches and were able enjoy the surf sound and stay warm.  The IV balcony however is not large and there really is no room to add larger furniture.  Give it a try.  We are booked in an aft S1 in January and an AQ in April and are very content with staying in the April IV balcony.

I willl be traveling with a good friend with lots of medical stuff, so will be in an accessible COncierge IV on deck 9.  So we will have a bit more space than a regular IV, but am extra Tom Tom would be great!  maybe we can get the room steward to bring us an extra one.

I'm so glad they “improved” your verandah furniture. Perhaps you could share a picture? 😊

Okay, I made a trip to the other end of the ship early this morning and found that there are two separate doorways so I think the connection will be inside the room. You guys will have a magnificent view up there!

Marilyn, Thank you for checking on that deck 8 situation for us. You are wonderful!

Having the front facing oceanview, we won't have to turn the TV to the bridgecam channel. We'll have the same view just a little lower.

Thanks for your impressions of your IV, Oville. No worries. We’ll certainly give our Concierge IV a fair try, but I wish they’d at least add a second Tom Tom to the cabins. We actually use our veranda, so we may ultimately decide this veranda type isn’t for us. I hope you’ll post your impressions of your other cabins (and the Retreat).

For sure I will.  At first I thought the Edge and IV were not for us but warmed up to it on the second day.  Remember it was a two night cruise so not exactly a full cruise experience.  There was no doubt on day 1 we were going to cancel our April cruise, by the end of day 2 probably not.

Good luck with your cruise, just give it some time.😉

VT, I am seeing pictures from Dinner on the MC from tonight on deck 14 all over Instagram. Were you able to get a reservation? If so how was it? I am disappointed some engineer didn’t realize there would be an issue before the ship was completed. Moving it to 14, kind of takes away from “Dinner on the Edge.”

I have a reservation for Dinner on the MC tonight - it will likely be on 5 attached to Raw on 5, but is a moving target (literally). As long as I get to eat on the MC, I don't care where it is! 🙂
