Pre purchasing casino credit

I have noticed on my cruise planner you can pre-buy online casino table credits, $50 - $500, it then gives you a 10% bonus. The price is £39.50, presume this then gives $50 (or $55 with bonus added). Is this correct, has anyone does this before? Would certainly save us form carrying casino cash with us for a few days prior to cruise. We are not big users but do like an occasional try at the tables.

I did it for my upcoming cruise on the Reflection.  However, I believe I paid $50 for $55 in chips.  Paying $39.50 would be a great deal and I would jump at it.

Haven’t heard this before! If it gets you some extra $$$ I’d be all for it! Although I’m a bit disappointed after reading that the blackjack tables have recent turned from 3:2 to 6:5

I think it depends on the ship.

Someone else said it was still 3:2 on their recent cruise.

 

My question is if you pre-purchase does that become refundable OBC or non-refundable?

OP actually said it was 39.50 in British Pounds not U.S. dollars.  We just paid $67.00 Canadian for each $55.00 credit.  We used some of our OBC to pay for it.  Saves us buying US dollars for our Med cruise, when we only need Euros.

Guess its a win win situation, we get 10% extra, don't carry the cash and as I used credit card we get airline miles too. Have just ordered some casino credit in £££, presume we then go to the casino cash desk with a print out of our email and collect the dollars. Great!

Again - I'll ask if it's refundable.

I know that if we use regular OBC in the casino we get "special" chips that you can't cash out but have to re-deposit in your account.

However, since this is our cash that we've used to purchase it, do we get regular chips that we could just cash out at will?

This can be done through your cruise planner, then "Internet and More", and there are Casino Options for Table Games and Slots (separately).  Non-refundable, promo chips for table games.  Promotional value is loaded on your SeaPass for slots.  Details below.  My question would be is this charged as purchasing "goods" or as a cash advance which could incur finance fees.

This is what will happen.  You purchase $50 in slot play.  They will put $55 on your "players card" - which will be your room key.  You will swipe or insert your card into a slot machine, punch in a code, and you will see your money.  They will not be giving our dollars.  🙂

No, it won’t. In case above you will get a message to the effect that you can only cash out winnings. In effect you will be left with balance to play on the machine.

Once you have had a winning spin, then that amount will be available to cash out. Any wins that you have will be accumulated and will be available to cash out.

 

You should consider only adding a small amount of credit to machine at any time, if you think you may wish to move on.

That I believe is not the case,

with casino credit purchases you can get chips from the cashier to play at the tables, and can then just cash them in.

in the past when I have played craps I can just get chips at the table, never had a problem with OBC purchase apart from the roulette table.

it all depends on the cashier some can’t be bothered and some are jobs worth’s 

the can’t be bothered ones usually get a nice tip 😎😂😂👍🏻

if you hit cash out, I believe $49 would print out.  The $5 free play is just that, free play not free money.  If you kept playing and spent $50, you would have $5 left to play with, but you could not hit the cash out button and get $5

We did this on our last trip and it worked well.  DW plays the slots and I play the tables.  When we purchased it asked if we were purchasing for table play or for slots.  When we got on the ship we went to the cashier's cage and they gave me a stack of restricted chips and loaded the slot credit on DW's card.  As long as you are careful to make sure you are always collecting your winnings (regular chips) and making your bets with the restricted chips it shouldn't take long to be holding only regular chips.  For us it was an easy way to get some extra money to play with.  I would definitely do it again.

No you would need to play the other $54.  If you read the terms and conditions the entire $55 is loaded as "promotional play".  Only winnings can be cashed out.

Yes, you can only cash out any winnings.  So if you bet a dollar and win 20.00, you can cash that out but need to play the rest.   You can just hit the cash out button every time you win.

Just back from Harmony Jan 6-12th. Wife and I did the slots. My parents did the tables. My two cents, slots are worth it, table games are not. My parents wanted a refund after they extensively questioned the casino manager about Blackjack, which the manager would not give them a refund. My father disputed the charges with American Express and got his money back.

Right off the top with slot play, two people can play at the same time with promo money. Once my wife went through her promo money, she used my seapass card at the same time I did playing on the promo money. We were both logged in to two different machines in different areas of the casino at the same time on my seapass card and pulling promo money off the account. So, go for the bigger promo, get more of a benefit and put it on one card. We put $1000 on my card. and $500 on hers. We got the extra money, plus the travel points on the credit card as the credit card charge is from Royal Caribbean. It’s better than playing cash, as you get additional money and credit card points. Had I known we could both play the promo money at the same time I would have put it all on one card and got a bigger promo.

I am going to post this in any post about the promo as I see people saying they ‘converted’ their promo chips to real chips. There is no way to ‘convert’ promo chips to real chips as in table games your winning bet stays on the table and that winning bet stays as promo. The additional money won are real chips, but the promo money originally bet stays as promo money. They only way to get rid of the promo chips is to lose the bet.

The amount of promo money you put into a machine you must play. What we did was put $10 on the machine each time. We played slots and video poker. We played $10 and what was there after playing that $10 we cashed out. Then we put another $10 in promo in to always be playing the promo money. We would up with a load of paper slips at the end of each night. If we played $100 in promo money and we had $100 in paper slips at the end of the night, we broke even. We could have transferred that to our room account and played it later or collected it in cash at the end, but it was kind of fun to cash in the tickets each night and walk away with cash. If we originally bought $1000 in promo money and we converted that into a real $1000 at the end of the cruise, we broke even. If we have less, we lost. If we have more, we won. We kept our casino cash separate from our spending cash to see where we were after the promo money was gone.

Very basic table idea, If I bet $10 in promo and won, now I still have $10 in promo and whatever additional in real. Your original bet does not convert to real money, it stays on the table as $10 in promo. You must lose for that promo money for it to go away. Now in the end you may come out ahead, but there is no way to 'convert' the promo chips to real money. You must lose the promo money.

With that let me say that the slots all were tighter than anything I have ever seen. We spent at least two to four hours a day in total in the casino. My wife smokes, so when she wanted a smoke if we were closer to the casino than the top deck, we went to the casino and played a little. We had a lot of gambler friends with us on this cruise also, so we all hung out there every evening. We watched a lot of slot play and never saw anyone win anything substantial. We never won anything substantial and, in the end, we lost $400. I am fine with that as we probably played about $3000 through the machines and tables. So, around 48 hours of entertainment for the two of us and we paid $400 for that 48 hours of entertainment. Obviously, we would like to go to the casino to win, but also, we go to the casino to have a good time. If we lose, but not lose our butts, we still had a good time in the end.

I was once told that you should only play slots on a casino during the first few nights of a cruise as they get progressively  tighter and tighter......any thoughts on that?

It is nice to get the extra $ thought the promo.  However, none of it counts toward your Blue Chip Club.  I understand the extra that you receive not counting but your original investment should count.  Was told their system could not do it.
