HappyCouple72 Posted January 20, 2019 #1 ย Share Posted January 20, 2019 If given choice in a โtypicalโ balcony stateroom , would you pick to have bed near bathroom or bed near balcony??? - Looking for opinion of which you would chooseย - Alsoย if you have sailed with both types of cabinsย - reason for you picking one over the otherย - of course friendly comments welcome.ย Thanks for taking the time to answer so that new cruisers can make an informed choice ย
HappyCouple72 Posted January 20, 2019 Author #2 ย Share Posted January 20, 2019 I picked bed near bathroomย - i had this setup on celebrity summit and enjoyed the open space near balcony while still could see the ocean from bedย - i have not yet sailed with bed near balconyย
Rare Essiesmom Posted January 21, 2019 #3 ย Share Posted January 21, 2019 On many cruise lines/ships, there is not a choice.ย But on a ship where there IS a choice, I prefer by the balcony.ย Why?ย Because I travel with my sister, and I always choose the twin bed closest to the bathroom.ย With my nightstand between the beds, I can use the end of the couch next to my bed as my nightstand: alarm clock, kindle, tissue...EM

cb at sea Posted February 2, 2019 #7 ย Share Posted February 2, 2019 On some ships, all cabins have the beds in the same place...no "alternating" rooms. ย I'd rather be near the bathroom, if I had a choice, so that you don't have to scoot around the bed to get outside! ย
Lori and Tim Posted February 4, 2019 #8 ย Share Posted February 4, 2019 Cabins are small. Doesn't really make a difference. Easier to see out your balcony if you're in bed.
Tourist1292 Posted February 20, 2019 #9 ย Share Posted February 20, 2019 We picked two cabins with extra large balcony. We want the beds near bathroom so we will have more space for 6 people going in and out the balcony.

We booked two state rooms with two of the largest balconies (~3x biggerย than the other rooms of the same class), one on each side of the ship. One sleeps 4 and have the bed near the bathroom. The other one sleeps 2 and have the bed near balcony. We will mostly hang outย in the room that has the bed near the bathroom for the larger opening space connected to the balcony unless the other room have better scenic view. HappyCouple72 Posted February 20, 2019 Author #13 ย Share Posted February 20, 2019 Very nice ย i love Celebrity, Iโve only been on Summit, service was amazingย our last cruise was a regular size balcony on deck 8 starboard, concierge class. Tourist1292 Posted February 20, 2019 #14 ย Share Posted February 20, 2019 Thanks. It is our first cruise, but we have spent a lot of time reading cabin reviews before picking the rooms.

ALWAYS CRUZIN Posted May 11, 2019 #16 ย Share Posted May 11, 2019 In a balcony cabin we prefer the bed near the bath room. More open room.
crystalspin Posted May 21, 2019 #17 ย Share Posted May 21, 2019 Both of balconies we've had, had the sofa nearer the balcony, which I consider a big window! of the OV's we've had, one had the sofa nearer the window. This would be my preference if just my DH and me, so that he can sit and read his Kindle on the sofa! ย OTOH, when we travelled with family in nearby cabins, on the Lower Promenade on R class HAL ships, the bed(s) were on the window wall, but that made for more accessible socializing space (sofa, desk chair, foot of the beds) nearer the door. ย Next year we will sail with family in adjoining mini-suites on Princess, with 'living' areas near the balconies. Assuming the balconies can be opened between, perhaps we will drop in to socialize via the verandahs!
basictek Posted June 13, 2019 #18 ย Share Posted June 13, 2019 When I travel on Harmony the cabins are supposed to be alternating, I'm hoping we get the bed near the balcony. The Mrs. goes to be earlier than I do so it's better if I can get in and out of the room (couch area) without going by the bed.ย
swimmingotter Posted July 13, 2019 #19 ย Share Posted July 13, 2019 Bed near bathroom. ย Waking up to a view of theย glorious Bermuda blue seaย at Royal Navalย Dockyard from our cozy bed was one of the highlights of our last cruise.

crystalspin Posted July 17, 2019 #22 ย Share Posted July 17, 2019 OK -- It looks like you get your wish! There aren't any photos RIGHT near yours, but there are enough (including on the sister ships Oasis and Allure) to set up/confirm the pattern. It looks like the alternating triple-occupancy cabins in your area -- which you do not have one of -- are the bed near bathroom/sofa near balcony but the double-occupancy cabins are as the diagram:
basictek Posted July 19, 2019 #23 ย Share Posted July 19, 2019 Thanks, I wasn't 100% sure but based on other cabin reviews and understanding they seem to rotate every other I was hoping this to be the case. It's just my wife and I so this should be great.ย
ger_77 Posted August 14, 2019 #24 ย Share Posted August 14, 2019 Whether in a hotel room or on a cruise ship, DH always chooses the side nearest the bathroom, as he gets up in the night.ย He claims that I have a bladder like a camel, which allows me to sleep through the night quite peacefully.ย LOL ย I love having the side nearest the balcony, because I can slip out quietly in the early morning with my e-reader and enjoy the peacefulness of it all. ย Smooth Sailing!
