LisaT91403 Posted January 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted January 22, 2019 Last week, I received an email from Royal with the subject "You've already hit it big this year — here's an exclusive Casino Rate". There is a "exclusive" offer code in the email, which allegedly entitles me to save big. Just curious...is this a true discount (aka a "casino rate"?), or similar to the "sales" that are offered all the time that are not really sales, just marketing spin? I'm guessing the latter since I spent very little time in the casino on my last voyage.
kmorg1234 Posted January 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted January 22, 2019 My casino rate is a HUGE discount. I just booked a $9500 suite on the Anthem for $3300. Had to pay in full despite the cruise being months away, but I thought it was a great deal.
LisaT91403 Posted January 22, 2019 Author #3 Share Posted January 22, 2019 Yes, I've heard that the casino rates can be fantastic...I'm not questioning that at all. My question is whether or not the email I go is the real thing. Do they just send the casino offers to anyone? Or is mine not a "real" casino offer...just a regular Royal marketing campaign. How do you get your casino rate offered to you? Is it via an email from Royal? Thanks.
kmorg1234 Posted January 22, 2019 #4 Share Posted January 22, 2019 I get the postcards, then sign into the Casino Royale site to see all of my “offers.”
kmorg1234 Posted January 22, 2019 #5 Share Posted January 22, 2019 To get the deal you want, you click on the offer and enter your request. They get back to you via email within a day. But then when I saw what a great deal a balcony was, I called the casino TA number to upgrade to a Genie cabin. Was very easy.
TBone2K Posted January 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 22, 2019 I suppose best is to do a regular booking and then start over and use the rate code or link whatever it is. Let us know what you find out.
LisaT91403 Posted January 22, 2019 Author #7 Share Posted January 22, 2019 Okay, it sounds like you get postcards in the mail, not an email with a "special code" like I got. I'm guessing mine isn't really so special 😉

I've been in the Club for a long time and constantly get emails from Club Royale along with snail mail with special offers. Find a ship and a sail date that you like, do a mock booking to see what the cost will be and then give Club Royale a call and see what they have to offer you. Bradison Posted January 22, 2019 #9 Share Posted January 22, 2019 What kind of $ do you have to gamble to get these kinds of offers?
kmorg1234 Posted January 22, 2019 #10 Share Posted January 22, 2019 I usually budget $1000 for the week. Seems like the offers increase if I happen to win a big jackpot. They want their money back, perhaps?

dodgestang Posted January 23, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Casino rates only really have sizable gains for you if you are sailing one of the dates they offer you a promo for. Sure you can use it as a coupon for other sailings, but the savings are rather small in comparison to if you applied the coupon to the sail date they offered and then upgraded to a nice room
boscobeans Posted January 23, 2019 #13 Share Posted January 23, 2019 We just got our Casino Royale offer in today's mail. To late for out upcoming cruise since final payment was made and the cruise is 11 days from now. Cannot use it on our next cruise since it is after November 30, 2019. We get the offer each year and can't take advantage due to the timing of the offer and our cruise schedule ?????

I'm guessing mine isn't really so special 😉 Small time gambler here. Will always be the lowest level Club Royal tier. Cruise once per year, maybe twice on a good year. Will hit the casino each night for 1-2 hours. I received a postcard in the mail offering a $150 off per cabin if I booked thru Casino Royal. This is in additional to the "exclusive" casino rates. I have to book by the end of this month and sail by Nov 2019 so unfortunately, I will not be able to take advantage of it. DW & I probably gambled $400-$500 last cruise we were on in Nov 2018 which for some reason, was the least amount ever. Usually closer to $1,500 on other cruises. We "budget" $100 pp/pd. The only other time I booked thru the casino, I found the rates to be similar to booking directly thru Royal, maybe $75 cheaper thru the casino. However, there are certain ships/itineraries where the savings could be significant. So as others have said, pick your cruise, do a mock booking with Royal & then call the Club Royale to see what they can do.

The question is...is your offer for a complimentary cruise or for $$ off. If it's a comp cruise, these are excellent offers and can be upgraded from "free" to any cabin category using a very generous casino rate. In our case, the rule of thumb has been that the final prices will be 60% off the retail, discounted rate. If, on the other hand, the offer is for $$ off, you will get only the referenced dollar value off of the regular, discounted rate. They do not reduce your cruise fare to a casino rate in any way. We find the $$ off offers and the $$ off certificates to be useless. The only real value, to us, are the ones they give us as full comps. Every cruise we are taking in 2019 (6) are from casino comp rooms and we have upgraded every one of these offers to full suites and in 3 cases, Star Class cruises. They are VERY good deals. Rare Tree_skier Posted January 23, 2019 #18 Share Posted January 23, 2019 Got this same email. I haven't called yet but... my suspicion is that it is just marketing. I doubt I spent $100 in the casino on my Nov cruise. The email also say I get $20 in chips. I will call when I have time but nobody who gets one of emails ought to be expecting any kind of big discount. Edit: I applied the code they provided in the email to a mock booking we are considering for Sept 2019 and the price actually went up
LisaT91403 Posted January 24, 2019 Author #19 Share Posted January 24, 2019 My email was a bit different than the one you posted. Mine didn't list the offer (e.g. 60% off or anything like that)...just a code. I called, and got more info. It is not a free cruise, of course, as we barely gambled at all. But the discount was actually pretty good. For example, I priced out a JS with D discount for $4358...and the casino rate was $3217.72. If you were to take away the D discount, the casino rate is about 30% off the regular fare. I priced out a different sailing at $5768 with D discount, and it came to $4007.20 for the casino rate. Anyway, just wanted to report back in case others were interested in what I found out.
mafig Posted January 24, 2019 #20 Share Posted January 24, 2019 Are you expected to gamble the same amount you did to get the offer? We usually go to the casino. Some cruises more than others. However, I would hate to feel we HAD to gamble a certain amount or a certain amount of time.

That is a pretty sizable discount on top of a good discount, especially for someone that does not gamble much. But just out of curiosity, Royal has a 60% of 2nd guest sale right now which works out to be 30% off. Is the casino discount of 30% off on top of the the fare that is already 30% off? If not, then the "exclusive" casino rate is really just the same sale that is on the regular Royal website.

fizzywm Posted January 24, 2019 #23 Share Posted January 24, 2019 I get these emails, and if everything is working correctly, you don't have to call them or use the self-service form at clubroyaleoffers.com. You can click the line in the email that says "now you can book online" and then put in your C&A number and the rate goes down. For me it is about a $300 discount on one of the cruises in March, for an interior room. But I'm not sure if that's casino rate, like they say, or just C&A discount (I am only gold so I doubt the C&A discount for last-minute sailings is that high?). The pricing summary doesn't seem to list the casino rate. On 1/23/2019 at 9:49 AM, Tree_skier said: Got this same email. I haven't called yet but... my suspicion is that it is just marketing. I have offers for both but the casino discount I tested took off less than $20 of the price, compared to hundreds off the cruise with "casino rate." If you don't gamble enough your future offers will be impacted. Most of the time I don't even use my card in a cruise casino 'cause I'm afraid of forgetting it and it's more than just a casino card. More than once, I'd be halfway back to my stateroom before I realize I left my card in a slot machine. Good thing the casino's are small enough so I could find my card pretty quickly. And bonus if someone was playing the machine with my card still in it. 👍
