He’s busy trying to make sure people get to see the Sunrise, but you don’t do this for this long without receiving a lot of videos and pictures and information when things like this happen somewhere you spend 5-6 months of your life every year 😉

It's times like this that I really wish private messaging worked on this site. lol

If they do cancel the sailing and issue the 100% Future Cruise Certificate then is the value of the certificate based on the amount I paid for this sailing, or is it for the minimum cabin on the future sailing?

I was under the impression it was the amount you spent on your existing sailing.

The FCC will be the cruise fare you paid on the cruise that was canceled

Where there's a will (and $$$), there's a way. They might very well pull it off. On the other hand, there's a saying that nine women can't have a baby in one month. I guess it all depends on what repairs need to be made before she can start sailing again.

I like that saying!

I wish there was a live on board webcam or port webcam we can see what's going on live time.

Both Oasis and Allure on board web cam feeds were disabled last year I think - I think Indy is the only one that still has one and that is only one camera (Oasis and Allure had about 5 each)

Minus taxes (obviously) and Port Fee's (not always obvious since most people think it's 'built into' the fee).  And if you pre-paid gratuities, that is not included in FCC as well. Basically, it's the price advertised on the website, not the price that is paid.

So if you paid $2,200 for the cruise of which the breakdown is $1,400 advertised fare + $300 taxes + $200 Port Fees + $300 Grats, the FCC will be $1,400.   I'm using simple math for example purposes, not realistic example. I know the numbers will vary greatly.

I think....correct me if I'm wrong.

Couple points about the FCC.

1. it can be used to pay the cruise fare portion of another reservation but not the taxes and fees portion.  Taxes and fees have to be paid normally.

2. If a new cruise booking is less than the FCC amount, the remaining FCC balance can be applied to another cruise.

3.  You can apply the FCC towards existing bookings.  You don't have to make a "new" booking.

4. A booking can only have one FCC applied to it.  It you have a booking and applied a previous FCC to that booking, you can't apply this FCC to that booking as well.

5.  If you apply this FCC to a future booking and it pays for the cruise in full, then later there is a price drop, they will issue the price drop refund as more FCC.

6.  Keep detailed notes about the FCC, which booking it applied to, future upgrades or price drops, etc.  Six months from now you may not remember any of this.

Lastly if you ask 10 different employees about the FCC rules, you'll get 20 different answers.  If you don't like the answer, try again.

The refunds are given in different amounts. Cruise fare will be one amount. Taxes and fees are another amount. And gratuities will be another amount. It should add up to your total paid. The FCC will be the cruise fare only.

Your point 2 is not my experience. Had a FCC and when applied to a cruise fare less than  the FCC amount, the remaining ‘credit’ was no longer available.

Hence why I edited it and added the note about asking again.  Standard consistency applies.  I used all my FCC from this towards one cruise and was able to apply the residual value of $156 to another.

I learned from a RC Casino social media site that several people who had a casino comp for this cruise, and had upgraded, are only being given FCC for the "comp" fare for the cruise, but not for the cost of what they had paid for the upgrade. I was really surprised, I did not know that was done that way for casino "comp" cruises.

I was wondering how casino comp guests would play out.

My only complexity was I used a prior FCC towards this cruise.  I got that back too so I'm "whole".  I've got a good TA on my case working this for me.  She has spent hours working it but in the end I'm happy with the outcome and a day before they said the FCC would be available.

That makes no sense why would they not refund gratuity if you were never on board and did not use services

Every penny charged for the cruise will be refunded including pre-paid gratuity however they don't count pre-paid gratuity in the FCC calculation.  FCC is based solely on base cruise fare only.

DryDockDave,

I was just there on the NV. Glad nothing like this happened while we were there! Did the Aqua Cast go home (or were they even in Freeport)? And will they come back to sail overseas or do you think the AquaTheatre is a done deal until after major repairs?

Thanks for all your info.

While reading all those money compensations- and I thing RCI did a great job in that- I just can imagine what a great dissapointment the cancelatioin of three cruises means for those booked on those sailings.

All the excitement- all the plans- the Roll Calls- all gone down hill!

I am about to board Silhouette- so can really imagine what the cancelations means for those involved.

Silhouette is about to start the last voyage before we board for the Transatlantic- i hope they treat her well...LOL!

They might have, just not publicly.  I suspect it comes in the form of a letter and money.

Same here and I miss them.

I wonder if that poster might be bound for Bahamas in the next day or two. If he is safe travels to him and I hope his wife is doing well too.

Oh hey, what a lovely thing to say 😄 I'm still here too, just tend to be a 'lurker' these days!

Hi,

Concerned June Oasis Passenger here. I was just playing around with Plan B options. I found some options. Actually really nice ones...  But cannot risk booking another trip and then the Oasis is ready and then I am stuck with 2 paid trips for the same time period.

Has anyone contacted RCI and asked to cancel and be refunded any summer cruises  now even if PIF and non-refundable and showing a planned sailing?

would it be safe to say that once the ship is at Cadiz, RCI can make an assessment end of April and if there are known, knowns... they inform future customers on any impacted sailings and cancel/refund asap?

This uncertainty is killing me.
