Lorey2007 Posted May 20, 2019 #1 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Does the tub/shower combo in the Junior Suites on Symphony have a very high side to step over? We were recently on Ncl Sun and the sides were dangerously high for us about 20" which was above my knee. We have been on Allure & Oasis & don't remember them being that high then again that was 6 years ago so maybe it didn't bother us as much then. Does anyone know the height or how I can find it out? Rare John&LaLa Posted May 20, 2019 #2 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Very high. Worse getting out of than in
PhoenixCruiser Posted May 20, 2019 #3 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Same with a Grand Suite. Not sure why this hasn't been changed/addressed. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
chandom Posted May 20, 2019 #4 Share Posted May 20, 2019 In a JS right now on Symphony... Here are some pictures that might help using the highly calibrated Cruise Compass as a measuring device. Soap is to help visualize the bottom of the tub. Keep in mind a Compass is a standard 8.5 x 11 letter size sheet of paper or 17 x 11 in the fully opened format. jerseyjjs Posted May 20, 2019 #5 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Not to mention that the glass partition is not stabilized. It swings out quite effortlessly, so it's not a dependable source of stabilization to hold onto getting in or out.
sassyw Posted May 20, 2019 #6 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Can you ask for a stool? My husband and I are short with short legs and are senior citizens
gerif Posted May 20, 2019 #7 Share Posted May 20, 2019 I learned in rehab after my hip replacement to sit on the edge of the tub and swing my legs over for both getting in and getting out. Have two stall showers at home and never use the tub but for cruises and hotels it works well (also a vertically challenged senior).
HicksRA Posted May 20, 2019 #8 Share Posted May 20, 2019 They have to be tall due to the slosh factor of a moving ship.

cb at sea Posted May 20, 2019 #11 Share Posted May 20, 2019 It IS to have access under the tub...once you're IN it, it's a normal-sized tub. It's just it's raised off the bathroom floor level. Sit on the side, swing your legs in, and stand....repeat to get out.

Is the Jr Suite as large as the pictures make it look on the RCCL site? Have a great cruise!

I'd say so, definitely roomier than a balcony room.
zooma Posted May 21, 2019 #14 Share Posted May 21, 2019 Does Symphony have any Spa Junior Suites (with the walk-in showers and separate tub) like on Anthem? Or is Anthem the only one that has that category?
mac66 Posted May 21, 2019 #15 Share Posted May 21, 2019 (edited) They have Jr. Suites for disabled with no tubs, just a walk in shower. We had one recently on the Allure. The bathroom was quite large to accommodate a wheelchair. Neither my wife or I are disabled but booked it as a guaranteed suite. Luck of the draw. It was very nice. I am assuming Symphony has the same thing. Wouldn't hurt to ask. Edited May 21, 2019 by mac66
