neverbeenhere Posted June 1, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Google: future cruise deposit, if we are talking Princess Cruises
satxdiver Posted June 1, 2019 #4 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Future cruise deposit (FCD) can be purchased onboard the ship for a cruise to be named later in next two years for $100 deposit for each person. If at the end of the two year you have not used it, Princess will refund the money. You can use it as a deposit for a future cruise instead of the usual bigger deposit and you will get an OBC from $50 to $250 depending on the length of the new cruise. It is worth it if you plan to go on a Princess cruise in the next several years. The cruise may be more than two years away but the reservation/deposit has to be made in the next two years. Those of us who are avid cruisers (it is contagious) have several FCDs on deposit at any one time.
cherylandtk Posted June 1, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Onboard credits for FCD are per person and range from $15-$150, based on both length of cruise and type of cabin. https://book.princess.com/html/personalizer/downloads/pdf/FutureCruiseDepositForm.pdf

We booked two cruises 2 days apart so no OBC advantage unless we cancel second cruise and re-book after purchasing the FCD. Two years from now on the second and no perks so none to lose on a re-do. Ah, learn as you go; each cruise line has somewhat different rules and now we are wiser.

I know you only ask about FCD, but being that you are new to Princess, I thought that I would pass on this info too. There is also a military OBC, for active and retired military. And if you own 100 shares of CCL stock, there is OBC too. A 7 night cruise would get to $100. for military and $100 for being a stock holder. skynight Posted June 1, 2019 #12 Share Posted June 1, 2019 PeacefulOR Just to be clear you can only purchase Future Cruise Deposits, FCD's, while on board a Princess cruise. They cost $100 each, the deposit amount, which is charged directly to your credit card, not to your on board account. The benefits are applied when you use an FCD to place a deposit on a future cruise. There are no benefits for the cruise you are currently on. Also note that FCD's are individual. If you are a couple then you have to purchase at least one in each person's name so that each of you can receive the reduced deposit and the OBC benefits. We normally have two or three each in reserve.
AF-1 Posted June 1, 2019 #13 Share Posted June 1, 2019 Question: So you can combine both military and stock together on a cruise? And you can reuse these credits every cruise?

And you can reuse these credits every cruise? Yes, to both questions. Military is put in your record when you send documentation to Princess and you never have to send it again. It's explained here: https://www.princess.com/downloads/pdf/faq_answer_legal/Military_Personnel_Benefit_US.pdf Shareholders has to be sent in for each cruise. The form is available online or just write the required information on the statement showing ownership and mail or fax. Almost all OBC can be combined (there are a couple of exceptions). We've has as much as $1100 in OBC on our longer cruises.

Ah, learn as you go; each cruise line has somewhat different rules and now we are wiser. That first cruise is almost always done without FCDs. Almost will soon be always. Princess had a program called Bon Voyage Experience (BVE, do a search to see what it was) that among other things allowed you to purchase FCDs without actually going on a cruise. The BVE has been terminated. BTW: if you don't use your FCDs within 2 years, you can request an extension for 2 more years. Usually granted.
