Rare ghstudio Posted June 14, 2019 #1 Share Posted June 14, 2019 We'll be going on a cruise in a few weeks and I'd like to take $1000 just in case I'd like to play in the casino. I'd rather not carry that much in cash. Is there a way to deposit that money in advance into some on-board account and have it fully refundable if I don't use it? I also don't want to be charged for taking out my own money to play or have to take promotional chips.
RodPat Posted June 14, 2019 #2 Share Posted June 14, 2019 The last two times on Celebrity the casino runs a promo on Day 2 and 3. You can get money put on your card with no fee to use in the slots. We chose$500 and they gave us $575 on our card. I don't know what they do for the table games. I think you may be able to gift yourself money for the table games on your cruise planner. A Sixth? Posted June 14, 2019 #3 Share Posted June 14, 2019 $ 1,000.00 I wouldn't worry about carrying that amount. In a past life that was walk-around money. 1

Rare NutsAboutGolf Posted June 14, 2019 #5 Share Posted June 14, 2019 If you're MLife Gold or above and haven't linked your account yet, do so as you don't pay the credit card fee. There's no real account, un-used casino credits (free play) and on board credits are use or lose per sailing. I believe you're eluding to a marker I doubt a grand is enough to open one and while I have two open in Vegas, I hate them and will be closing them soon as they each are performing a credit hard pull every six months. All a "marker" is, a line of credit, don't gamble at all you don't owe them anything. Pull $1K, you owe them $1K usually within 30 days interest free and if you don't pay them they maybe break your thumbs or sue you. My sailing on 5/31 did not offer the fee-free offer but did offer this at least twice, if you show up to the casino from 10am-noon you received $5 in true free play (not matched). Best option is to carry the cash on or use the ATM on the ship if and when you're ready to gamble.

SbbquilterUT Posted June 14, 2019 #8 Share Posted June 14, 2019 We always carry the cash and then put it into the safe - never been an issue on any travels.
