Low Price was it a Glitch?

Anyone else noticed that Carnival (Carnival’s website)  had a 5 Day Western Caribbean cruise out of Tampa on the Paradise for $75?  The cruise leaves July 6-11.   I got online today to check out some cruise prices and I saw this price and jumped on it thinking it was too good to be true.  Yes $75 per person for the cruise.  Our cruise fair was $150,  taxes and port charges $199.04 for a total of $349.04 for the two of us (inside cabin, riviera deck) AND they gave us a $100 on board credit.  Now when I saw this price I kept thinking no way, that when I try and book it it won’t go through or it would change but sure enough that’s what we paid- got a confirmation booking number and everything.  Just wondering if anyone else got this deal too?  I called my sister shortly afterwards to have her try and book and that price was no longer the price.

I experienced a very similar price glitch a few days ago, and I called Carnival, and they said: "Oh, this rate code isn't available for this sailing." even though It would allow me to select the rate code when I went to choose my cabin!"

Booked Sensation 7/15 right after returning from the Dream 6/1 after logging on and seeing it (and a few Paradise cruises) listed at $50 or $70pp. Assumed it was last minute stuff, especially since Sensation surely had some cancellations after all the Cuba stuff. The rate was also attached to the Casino as well, even though I didn't get any offers onboard or via email since getting off the Dream... thing has a 100 OBC too, $30 more than the cruise fare! I'm not complaining one bit, booked it paid for it, it's valid and in there...

That was a casino offer. When I submit my son’s VIFP number those prices came up for him. When I put in my VIFP number it was regular price for me. The casino offer is good until June 28th. I just found out this today. He received some great offers that he didn’t know that were available to him.

I got an ocean view for 70pp with the 100 dollar obc and drinks on us for July 15 on the Sensation. I thought it was a glitch as well but all is good and we are going. I didnt even look at what ports were listed until after I booked.

At those prices it may make the fact that you are cruising on a Fantasy Class ship palatable.  But of course since many would have to fly into the obscure ports of embarkation it would not be worth it.  But to those who can drive....go for it when these offers pop up.

That's fantastic if you live near the port!  Not if you have to fly...:(

Luckily we are able to fly Frontier and total costs for the two of us from CLE to Tampa with a checked bag is $277.

Hubby and I have said that when we retire, we hope to retire near a city with a cruise port so we can take advantage of last minute fares

Ahh... Frontier.  The home of vinyl covered plywood seats that do not recline.  You also pay for seat assignments, carry ons and checked bags.  At least you can use the bathroom for free.

We saw the rate (ours was $40pp) and booked it! Paid more for port fees and taxes than the cruise! Prepaid tips and our total was around $400!  Can't pass up a deal like that!  We booked the July 20 sailing!

This was NOT a glitch, and I did purchase one of these cruises for ~$500 for oceanview for 3 of us T&F included. What happened was that the original itineraries of these ships included Havana, which is now off limits.

This resulted in many cancellations, and Carnival needing to fill up cabins on short notice.

Amusingly, when calling in to ask a question, the agent informed us that the last day to pay off our cruise had passed. To this we replied we had already paid in full. She checked somewhere else and apologized, saying she only saw the amount at first.

Since when is Tampa an obscure port to fly into?

It's obscure when the only ships that cruise out of her are 1 Fantasy Class and 2 Spirit class ships.  Been there, done that.  My cruising tastes have evolved and those ships are in my rear view mirror.
