Lanyards

I don't really want to wear one, but since there may be times that I need a lanyard, I was considering purchasing one for when/if I need it. Which type is best? The one with just the clip or the one with the clear pouch. I wasn't sure if you actually slide your SS card or is it scanned.

I always use the clip, even if the lanyard comes with the pouch.  I used to put my card in the pouch, but I have had my card fall out and also had the pouch break.  Also, I got tired of pulling my card out of the pouch to have it scanned. It's easier for me to just clip the card on to the lanyard.  I bought a set of lanyards on Amazon.

That's what I was wondering if you would have to pull the card out of the pouch. I guess that could get aggravating. Also didn't even think of the pouch breaking. Guess I will just buy the clip kind. Thank you for your reply. 😊

Then I can give them the card with the bottom part of the lanyard still attached.  That way they don't lose it by just setting the card someplace.  I prefer that to trying to unclip the card, or using the platic pouch.

When the casino opens go there. They will punch a hole in the card, attach the lanyard. It is free.

You can always get a free lanyard (clip) in the casino, especially if you only plan on using one sparingly.

Card pulls out sideways, but is securely held in place otherwise.  Easy to remove one-handed when necessary.

Sail & Sign cards are already hole punched nowadays.

We prefer just the clip lanyards.  Easy access to have it scanned and swiped at the bars.  If you play in the casino, its also easy to insert your S&S card and leave the lanyard hanging, that way it will be obvious your card is still in the machine.

I was assuming the OP question was specifically for Carnival - as this post is under the Carnival message boards.  Hence my answer was targeted to what the OP asked. My statement of Sail & Sign cards are already hole punched is a specific term for Carnival.  No other cruise line uses this specific term.

if the pouch is clear, they should be able to the scan the card with the card still inside the pouch. My travel partner uses a pouch and we never had a problem with security scanning the card inside the pouch. the only time you might have to take it out is for bar purchases if you need a drink

I like the casino lanyard.  I don't always wear it around the ship, I just loop it around my wrist, or just carry it.  Having the lanyard makes it easy to find the Sail and Sign.

We buy clip lanyards at 5 Below or some other such store before boarding. They often have a wide variety (if we don't use the ones from the last time).

Add me to the list of people who use a lanyard with a clip. Makes it easy to hand your S&S card to a bartender, which I do frequently. Of course a few days into the cruise at least a few bartenders usually know my folio number. The
