If we pay for the lowest category obstructed ocean view would we be upgraded to the top category ocean view or top category obstructed ocean view? Obstructed. And it isn't an upgrade per se. YOU pick the category you want to stay in and book that and your pricing is based on the lowest category in your cabin class. 1

The British Isles is a geographical term that does not change when political boundaries change. Thus, Ireland is, was, and will always be part of the British Isles, while they are clearly not part of Great Britain any longer, as you state. Well then Earthworm, I stand corrected. Thanks for taking the time to educate me on the nuances of the terms.

Taking it a step further, the big country there is the "United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland" or the UK for short. Great Britain is the island that includes England, Scotland, and Wales. The other island is Ireland and contains Northern Ireland (part of the UK) and the Republic of Ireland, a separate country from the UK. Great Britain, Ireland, as well as 1,000 or so smaller islands make up the British Isles archipelago.
idahospud Posted July 13, 2019 Author #29 Share Posted July 13, 2019 The voyage list is pretty inclusive. It looks like most of the 7+ day cruises in 2020-21. No prices are out yet, though.

I currently have a balcony on a 25 day cruise booked and received prepaid gratuities and $400 onboard credit so I actually think I have a slightly better deal. Am I wrong? rocklinmom Posted July 14, 2019 #33 Share Posted July 14, 2019 Yes depending on what the fares for your cruise do on the 18th, you could have a better deal right now. We appear to have a better deal with the May promo vs. this one but will see...

At the very least it makes them sound less important that the first two pax; at worst the term is borderline pejorative. How hard would it be for the first paragraph to just say "for third/fourth passengers" rather than "for their extra guests" (the unnecessary insertion of their into the sentence again functions as a diminutive implying that a client who brings "their" kids/grandma/friends along but shares a triple/quad cabin is an inconvenience rather than an asset) Who really cares what they call them? That is a huge difference and a deal breaker for us. Thank you for pointing out this change!

We did have a better deal with the May promo vs the Sip and Sail at first, but in the last week our fare dropped, so we rebooked. We don't drink but we would have bought at least 1 soda package and 1 coffee package, so we're getting something out of it in addition to the very slightly cheaper fare (I think it's ~$200 cheaper now taking all the promos and TA OBC into consideration). I was hoping this next promo would be good for us, but non-refundable deposit is a deal breaker for us too.

idahospud Posted July 16, 2019 Author #46 Share Posted July 16, 2019 The Landmark Sale can be booked with a non-refundable deposit (best price) or a refundable deposit at a bit higher price. To get a refundable deposit it looks like you'll need to use a TA or call Princess. It won't show online at Princess.com. 1

crystalspin Posted July 16, 2019 #48 Share Posted July 16, 2019 Thanks idahospud. I wrote it off when those on the other thread noticed that the original refundable deposit had become non-refundable 10%. However, if my PVP can quote me a refundable deposit, and the fare is less than the jacked up "May Sale" one, the $500pp OBC for a minisuite is a few (33 to be exact) dollars more than the combination of OBC and grats from the May Sale. Will look into it on Thursday!

This must be a new thing because I've been booking on the website for almost ten years now and have never seen a different fare based on deposit type. What I see on the website should be what is offered. I don't like the idea of one price if I book online with the online promo vs. another price and deposit type if I have to call in to book it. I think it has been that way for a while. Those of us booking online just didn't know about it. It's even that way with Sip & Sail right now. There is a nonfefundable deposit option and a refundable deposit option. The nonrefundable deposit cabins are cheaper. I imagine most people don't know about it because it's not advertised on Princess.com.
