Who is currently booked on a World Cruise?

I've become obsessed with world cruises lately. I cannot seem to find enough information on them. I am curious who is already booked and looking forward to your trip? I would love to hear which cruise line you are taking and what you are most looking forward to!

Regent Seven Seas Mariner.  

 

Yes, we're excited, but patient, and a bit wary--final payment still a year away and much can happen between now and then. Fingers crossed.

I’m booked on the 131-day Regent Seven Seas 2020 world cruise, round trip out of San Francisco on the Mariner January 24 - June 4.  I’ll be making the final payment at the end of this coming week.  I travel solo, and Regent’s pricing structure, especially the all-inclusive aspect, and general overall quality make it attractive for folks like me.  I booked this cruise while I was onboard the Mariner on a 28-day Panama Canal cruise last fall -- my first RSSC cruise -- and even booked the same cabin.  

 

Most looking forward to: everything, really.  I have some physical challenges that make excursions tricky sometimes, so the onboard experience is at least as important as the extra port exploration.  Regent offers a superb onboard experience with the smaller ship size, attention to detail, and relaxed friendly vibe.  Having a 4.5-month vacation where I don’t have to worry about a thing is my idea of a wonderful way to spend part of my retirement.

We are booked on Viking Ocean, departing L/A on 4th Jan 2020 for 119 nights. While our 1st cruise with Viking, it is our 2nd World Cruise.

 

Looking forward to a few new ports and returning to others after many years. We will also enjoy small ship cruising with no kids, no casino and no formal nights.

I am also booked on the Regent 2021 WC. A life long dream. We liked Regent’s relaxed atmosphere, all inclusive nature and really nice itinerary. Like Wendy a lot can happen in a year and a half. We have elderly parents, one who will be 95 when we return. 

 

We we are going with our best friends. We love meeting new people and Regent does a lot to encourage interaction between passengers. Other than part of the Caribbean and Europe this itinerary new to me.

We are booked on  full QM2 world cruise departing Southampton 10 January 2020.

last 2 years we have done full South American cruise and Southampton to Adelaide on both Queen Victoria and Queen Elizabeth and had fantastic times on both ships.

We need to look at excursions soon but as we have done most ports before we need to do something different. It will be a lovely cruise on a lovely ship.

I just finished the 2019 Oceania world cruise last week, but booked the next 2 cruises (on the same ship) so I'm still onboard until 7/28.

 

One thing was a revelation that I learned as the 6 months went on...a world cruise is not like a "vacation"...it's like moving to a new city. I had a new home (cabin), new street (deck), new neighbors, new church, new Bible study, restaurants to go eat in, could still eat at home if I liked, movie theater, gym, beauty salon, etc...a whole new town. You end up in a group of friends and get to know everything about the crew's life!  By about 5 months into it I was getting very ready to go home and see my family, though.  It was an amazing experience that I'm so blessed to have had...hope you all enjoy each minute of your upcoming adventure!!

Which is why I'm glad our WC is about 4 months long! 

 

I love the idea of getting to know the staff on a deeper level, and the idea of living in a new 'village' is quite appealing

It has been so great to really talk to the crew and count many of them as friends.  Here is a picture of me with one of my favorite waiters who left today...I hated to see him leave but he has a wife and daughter to get back to.

 

If I ever do another world cruise, I might do 6 months but 4 would work well.  It isn't that I don't like living on the ship (I do), but I miss my family and attending all the grandkids' sports and family holidays.

Pitcairn Island is amazing, hopefully it is more than a cruise-by and that the islanders come out to the ship with their boat, bringing their assorted wares.

 

We received an excellent presentation in the theatre and they also set up an outdoor market on the Sun Deck.

Hope you get the local aboard, as circling the island isn't overly interesting, as it is rather barren. Steep cliffs all around, with a single small dock.

Wow, that sounds great.  We thought about Seabourn, but Regent worked out to be a better fit for us.  Ours is 117 days, which I think is the right length for us, and includes NZ.  Perhaps about the same per diem, but overall Seabourn was too costly, and the included excursions on Regent appealing (even if we go private sometimes.)  I presume other perks and inclusions are similar.  Love the Seabourn product.

Yes, I wish my cruise was going to NZ.  On the positive side, we are going to many ports in Africa, which is what was most appealing to me.  

 

Adding: The Seabourn cruise also doesn't go to Europe, which was another positive to me.  I can easily go to Europe but Africa is much harder to get to.

We are booked on QM2 Jan.3 r/t NY. Our first Queen. 

 

Why this ship......itinerary! Originally our thoughts were to book Oceana, which gives guest a lot of add ons, plus is very port intensive.  After realizing since we are older, (we are no longer the first ones off the ship, returning as the gang plank goes up) sea days between ports are appealing and necessary. Plus we’ve seen most of The Pacific Rim of Asia on Holland. 

 

It is exciting  to read and see on You tube exotic QM2 ports, helping to fill my Bucket list; We haven't seen  Port Said, Haifa, the Suez Canal, Dubai, South African ports, Vietnam. The other side of Australia. Sri Lanka.  How exciting to celebrate my 75 bday in Dubai! 

 

Gotta do a World cruise while we are healthy and vertical!

Hi Heidi,

Can you tell me what cruise line you took your first world cruise on?  My hubby and I are looking at taking one and having a hard time deciding on which cruise line.  I have been on Viking only once and loved it.

Most certainly, our 1st World Cruise was with Princess, R/T from Sydney. Although I have both worked for & cruised with Princess for almost 40 years, that was our last. We eagerly await our Viking cruise.
