Those skates were rough.  He’s used to heat moulded skates with replaceable blades and wax laces. Not to mention they barely had any ankle support.

The skates he used were like Eeyroo of the hockey world.

Edit it to add: he still had fun and if you have never done it before try it. His first skate was on Oasis of the Seas.

Lol.  My son looked at the rental skates and says “rental”.  Wow this brand is brutal. 🤣🤣. He, too, is used to the baked,  mould and wax laces.  #skatesnob #cantblamehim #dotheyevensharpentherentals?

A few random pics.  Line ups most of the day at GS.

Another item that won’t make the Compass during a swingers cruise. Well at least not officially.  Please don’t Urban Dictionary if you don’t know. Trust me.  Really, no joking this time. Stop typing. I mean it.

They had a watch sale going on.  Why is it that the one that I like was under glass. It’s the colours that do it for me, as they have a lot of meaning.

I tried it on.  I guess you could say it was a test drive, but it got parked under glass again. Going to do some on line research tonight and reach out to our local jeweller to see if they can get it and the cost. No spontaneous purchases for me.  Seen to many stories of woe here on CC over the years.

And then there was the Veterans Ceremony.

I have never attended one before on the ship.  After attending this one I will always do my best to make them while on board. Veterans of numerous battles, from all countries were recognized.  There was also acknowledged of firefighters, police officers and ambulance crews. Most importantly they recognized those that made the ultimate sacrifice; with a live performance of Taps followed by a moment of silence.  For those who have served, those who are currently serving, and those who have activated family members I say thank-you and Godspeed.

I have a video video of the ceremony that I will share once the wifi is acceptable for uploading.

Next up was Grease.  No, the the BBQ chicken pizza lunch.  The show.

However, the pizza was good just needed more bbq sauce.  Pizza is still waaaay better than years ago.  I noticed some had been thin crust and others have been a thicker one. IMO the thin is better.

On to the show.

With the internet now being powered by the strength of one gerbil on a treadmill, I have been preparing photos for tomorrow morning. Catch you then.

Still to come,

  • more Grease
  • food porn
  • sunset photos
  • assorted pics like the kids casino (Arcade) and slips from our Casino adventures tonight.

Those in Florida, be safe out there.

See you in the am.

I’m watching the outermost bands of Dorian coming through our neighborhood now. We are getting short bursts of fairly heavy rain and wind, none of which last very long.  @John&LaLa and others living along the coast are getting tropical storm force gusts of wind and more rain than we are getting since we are pretty much on the far western edge of Dorian’s reach. Hope everyone along the coast is staying safe.

Hope you have a good sleep John without too much wind noise or other issues!   Stay safe!

We seem to be fine. Still dark, rainy, and windy. But we have power

So happy to hear all seems well on the East Coast. Once again, Sarasota was spared. Hope not much destruction and minimal cleanup. Please keep us updated. Thankfully, no loss of power.

Looks like the eye is north of you now, but this thing is so large, it will probably be a few hours before it's totally past you.

I love that the only time a Canadian could possibly be accused of being pretentious is when he's talking about hockey skates! 🙂

Just found this thread and now have 46 pages to catch up. What an adventure you must be having! Be safe and thank you again for posting your live threads. Always a lot of fun virtually cruising along with you and your lovely family.

We check in safe. Lost power last night for about 5 minutes. Mostly a rain event inland here in Ormond Beach. Bridges still closed from mainland to beachside. The pool is over the top so we had lots of rain. Volusia has reported only 2k power outages. We were lucky.
