Well, according to Celebrity anyway!

We have just received an email from Celebrity advising that as our cruise from Hawaii to Sydney will be sailing through Canadian waters we need Canadian visas. What the....

Of course there could be some technical reason for this? Ship redeploy starts in Vancouver? In which case I will need to stop rolling around with laughter and eat some humble pie.

Phoned Celebrity and they 'think it's a mistake. Also emailed them for clarity.

Maybe because Maui (our next port) is so close to Oahu, Captain Alex is taking the Solstice for an overnight northwards drift to kill some time 🤣 Maybe that's not such a joke though?

Sometimes you think there must be someone with a real sense of humour in the ‘automatic email’ department part of Celebrity’s IT...

When we did this cruise we received an email telling us that if we didn’t pay the outstanding balance of $0 our cruise would be cancelled....All the more bizarre as we had paid in £. Phoned and received apologies only to receive another mail the same a few days later....Celebrity had no idea what was generating the mail....

You have applied for a dateline crossing permit haven’t you?!?!?

Seriously, we loved our TP cruise, it remains our favourite to date. Have a fantastic time!

That is priceless Chemmo they certainly make you laugh.  We have just received an updated email. It would appear that someone in the 'automatic email' department has completed 101 geography. We are now sailing in US waters, Canada has not invaded the South Pacific (they're far too polite to do that) and we can all sleep soundly tonight - maybe? The excitement is building!

Back in 2002, when we were still living in Nova Scotia, a young British couple booked a flight from London to Sydney using an online website. The inexperienced 19 year olds didn't realize that something was amiss until they landed in Halifax and transferred to a 25-passenger commuter plane for the short onward flight to Sydney.

Theirs wasn't an isolated incident. In 2009, a Dutch grandfather travelling with his son also wound up there by accident; Italian tourists made a similar error in 2010; and in 2017, an 18-year old Dutch student expecting to head straight to the beach in Australia landed in near-blizzard conditions in our Canadian Sydney.

Lots of folks end up in West Virginia instead of South Carolina when going to Charleston, or vice Versace. I used to travel through Charlotte, NC when traveling to work to the SC Charleston. Since USAirways had multiple flights to both it apparently was a continuous issue.  The flight attendants would reiterate the SC part several times during boarding and again before the door was shut...more than once a passenger sheepishly de-boarded.
