When we have visited, those islands have major traffic difficulties and overdevelopment due to the large numbers of "transplants" moving there. Residents of the less populated islands want to avoid those problems, so the "visit...spend...go home" sentiment is common there. The irony is that on Maui especially the "please don't move here" attitude often is fiercest among people who moved there themselves! Generally, though, we have found most people friendly and helpful if you are a tourist.
travelgoddess1 Posted October 3, 2019 #277 Share Posted October 3, 2019 Bill, I think you have done more to promote tourism on Molokai than Trip Adviser, lol! Judging by the local sentiment, however, I'm not sure that's a good thing.😱 When I lived on Balboa Island in the 70's, every summer someone would chalk "tourists go home" on the sidewalk next to the seawall. It's a universal sentiment for those who are lucky enough to live in a desirable area. Absolutely gorgeous photos!
PCWalton1 Posted October 3, 2019 Author #278 Share Posted October 3, 2019 Actually we have found everyone to be welcoming and friendly. Of course we are going to places that cater to visitors. Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk

Rare bobmacliberty Posted October 8, 2019 #286 Share Posted October 8, 2019 Bill - Since you have several Hawaii cruises/stays under your belt, what's your favorite island? Favorite thing to do? Favorite restaurant? We've been to Maui 3 times and stayed at Kaanapali each time. We've spent a couple of days on Oahu, but nothing on the other islands. We're thinking of broadening our horizons on our next trip.
TwinMamainMN Posted October 8, 2019 #287 Share Posted October 8, 2019 We have an ocean front condo in Oahu pre-cruise and are looking forward to the Friday night fireworks from the balcony. I see rave reviews for Hula Pie and look forward to trying it!

Believe me when I tell you that it will comfortably serve 6, as it has for me in the past. Great photos and travelog, Bill, I enjoyed the fireworks from your Hale Koa Hotel, right next to HIlton Hawaiian Village. Again, thanks for taking the time to bring us all along. We shared a halibut & chips basket and a lobster & chips basket. Sorry we dove in too quick for pictures. Guess we will have to try it again. Very tasty Sent from my SM-G975U using Tapatalk hi would like to ask, since you have the unlimited dining plan, did you have to pay extra for the lobster tail or is this part of the unlimited privilege? thanks!!! kcbookworm Posted November 25, 2019 #293 Share Posted November 25, 2019 We just booked this same cruise for next year and will be reading this thread in detail! And will also be checking frequently for a price drop since our booking started out a bit high!
