Refundable OBC - Bottomline Technologies

I was recently on a cruise and had quite a bit of refundable OBC leftover.  I asked up at the guest services desk what they did in this rare event (I've never had anything leftover in the past) and she stated that I would receive a check in the mail in a couple of weeks.

Well, like clockwork, my Informed Delivery email from the United States Postal Service showed an image that my check from Bottomline Technologies for Princess Cruises was to be delivered in my mailbox that day.  Well done Princess and Bottomline Technologies!!

Well, of all the pieces of mail for the post office to lose ... yep!  You guessed it, it was the check.  Couldn't be a stupid jury summons or anything like that, which we receive like clockwork!  Well, I spoke to someone down at Bottomline Technologies and wow, were they ever nice and offered reassurance .... much more than the postal service did.

Hopefully, the mail was just delivered to the wrong honest person's home and they are sending it back through the PO.

I have to give it at least another week before they can resolve my issue down at Bottomline.  Kudos to them for being timely and understanding!!

Oh, and next time, I am just going to make it a point to use every cent of my obc while onboard!!

Well thanks for sharing that interesting adventure!

We usually have some OBC left over but its never enough to get excited about. Usually around $30.

Let us know the update once you receive it.

I certainly will!!  I know if your leftover OBC is $25 or less, they will handle it at guest services ... this was a few hundred (I had a lot in the beginning!!) and I was assured it would just be refunded to me.  Kudos to Princess and Bottomline for living up to what they claimed they would do.  Next time, I will just spend more time in the casino ... but, on this sailing I won a bit so high tailed it out of there right away!!

Nice to know that they are following the problem and willing to correct it.  I have had refundable OBC a few times before because I did not tell Ms Diver that it was available.  She would have spent it.  It does not happen often only when I have a very large OBC available.  Usually we spend it and more.

My informed delivery is often a day off. Many times my mail doesn't come until the next day.

Not sure when you saw this in your email but if it was today, it could still come tomorrow.. You can also report missing email through your informed delivery email. I think you login and say which piece of mail you didn't receive.

ah yes .... but it was already a few days late.  I did report it to the Post Office,  but of course,  not much help from that end.

But, on the bright side, I did receive the check today ... a few days late but it looked to be rumpled so am sure it was stuck somewhere within the truck or post office itself.  It kind of follows the same law that it only will rain once you wash your car. Just glad I got it but also happy that if there was a real issue, Bottomline answers their phones, follows up and are very friendly yet professional.

What?  A complimentary post?! 😁 How nice to read!  Glad they handled your call with respect and reassurances for a positive outcome.  When you do get it, just be ware that it comes in a pretty plain looking envelope.  Don't throw it away.

Yes, I definitely had something to compliment ... so credit given where credit due!
And, I did just receive it in the mail today and you are right, it is in what looks to be an advertisement.  It is ready to be cashed at the bank tomorrow.  It couldn’t have come at a better time ... just had some unexpected costs come my way so this will help!

I remember getting refund checks from Bottomline in the late 90's early 2000's.

They have been doing it for a long time.

The first one I received from them was for an expired FCD.  As someone mentioned, it kind of looks like junk mail so almost tossed it.  I checked out their name on this site ... whew!!  They just saved me from throwing away $200.  I had forgotten all about this FCD.  Now, I always have plenty on hand and I always keep track of them!!

Yeah for sure. I wonder how many get thrown away.  😳

FWIW, on my just completed cruise on the Sapphire the disembarkation form said that any amount of unused refundable OBC up to $250 could be received at Passenger Services. I’m wondering if that was a typo and was supposed to still be $25.  But it did sort of jump out at me when I saw it.

Just slightly off topic, but you can choose to put some of your OBC into the staff's gratuity pool. We have done that rather than buying something we really didn't want. The customer service desk has a form.

I already did that!! I had well over $1000 at the start!  I did even spend some of my refundable OBC ... and was actually going to spend more but then won a bit in the casino and thought it would be something nice to get in the mail to brighten my day after I was back home.

We also bought specialty coffees for some of the staff and delivered it to them.  Even for them, they get a discount but, I don't think it is free.  We also bought a couple of the waiters some bottles of wine that they might enjoy.

That's gotta be a typo.  I remember when it was anything less than $10 had to be given back as cash.  We got called down to the Purser's Desk on the last morning to collect something like $7.53.  What a pain in the neck that was!  🤨

Nice if true ...

When we asked just a couple of weeks ago, they were the ones that told me that anything over $25 of refundable obc would come back as a check.  $250 ... now, that would be great if they did that!

Most ships can now move cash from your onboard account to a slot machine (actually this is getting too easy).  Cash out and take ticket to the Cashier's Cage.  We have gotten a few checks from Bottomline and that did work just fine, though.  Knew not to throw that white envelope away.

Occassionally I believe it is possible just to redeem the OBC as casino credit. Then cash that casino credit in right away at the tellers! Anybody else ever do this?

Sshhhhh!!!!!!!!!🤫
