kjg46 Posted November 22, 2019 #1 Share Posted November 22, 2019 We recently had dinner in the Crown grill (CB). We enjoyed the specialty sea salts. I was able to take pictures of two of the three containers. Artisan Salt Co. 1. Hiwi Kai (black lava sea salt) 2. Yakima (Applewood Smoked sea salt) 3. Can some one provide me the name? I think the jar has a pink label? We would like to give these as Christmas gifts to some of our friends. I did go their web site but they changed the packaging and labels. Appreciate your help. jennybenny Posted November 22, 2019 #2 Share Posted November 22, 2019 It's Himalayan salt. I think any brand would do the trick for all three.
JF - retired RRT Posted November 22, 2019 #3 Share Posted November 22, 2019 OP: Costco has a ginormous bottle of the Pink sea salt (IIRC it costs less than $15). You could buy some really cute jars at Dollar Store or Big Lots, fill your own and give personalized gifts rather than something you bought online. Just a thought. kjg46 Posted November 22, 2019 Author #5 Share Posted November 22, 2019 Many thanks to all your posts. Yes, we will look into splitting the salts into smaller bottles or jars. Would help go further. All the Best🙂
neverbeenhere Posted November 22, 2019 #6 Share Posted November 22, 2019 A bit of a nicer Christmas gift would be to take them on a cruise so that they could enjoy the salts in their native environment. 3
rkacruiser Posted November 22, 2019 #7 Share Posted November 22, 2019 (edited) I, for one, did not find the Sea Salt options anything special and would not request any of them again on a future visit to the Crown Grill. Give me good old NaCl! With a bit of I included for good health. Edited November 22, 2019 by rkacruiser
msw.delafield Posted November 23, 2019 #8 Share Posted November 23, 2019 Saltworks, founded in 2001, was the company that introduced these specific salts around 2006 using the name Artisan Salt Company. Was immensely popular and this company has grown phenomenally over the past 15 years. As Pablo222 points out, the containers we see onboard Princess are likely no longer available . These same salts are marketed widely now and available at many gourmet or premium grocery stores (and on Amazon). Parent company is Saltworks -- https://seasalt.com/ Product can also be found at -- http://www.artisansalt.com/ Article attached that focuses on the growth spurt the couple that started this went through. It seems like Princess chefs should cut back on the salt in the kitchen if they really want to us to enjoy these specialty salts.
Clampram Posted November 23, 2019 #11 Share Posted November 23, 2019 We love the Yakima Salt and thought it would be a great idea if they sold them on the ship. I keep some in the house all the time!
