It's half that for 2 people. In Uk solo can't book guarantees.

 In the U.S. solo usually can't book GTY.  There are some exceptions but not often.

I guess GTY are discounts designed to get another wallet or purse on board to spend money on the ship.   The 200% us solo cruisers pay offsets the losses from having only one soul on board in that cabin to spend money.  

 

A good amount of total revenue comes from on board sources.  Casino, spa, photos, dining, bars, shops, excursions, etc.  

 

The automatic daily service charge is also cut in half when a solo cruiser books a room but let's not open up the tipping can of worms.

 

Suffice it to say their pricing model for GTY discounts doesn't work out for solo cruisers most of the time.  Better to keep us at 200% of base cabin price.

I know they do it purely for financial reasons. The 340 doesn't make that big a difference but every little helps.

I'm booked mon Empress Repo on Oct 15th 2021 Montreal to San Juan. £1500 for 15 nights is better deal.

It was around $500 extra to book it that way. Not bad for 14 nights
