8 day southern on Magic or 7 day eastern on Breeze

I previously asked for opinions on Breeze vs Dream, but I found a different itinerary that I am interested in.

Breeze - 7 night eastern caribbean: Amber Cove, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk, 2 sea days

Magic - 8 night southern caribbean: Aruba, Curacao, La Romana, DR, Amber Cove, 3 sea days

 

Price is within a few bucks of each other, looking at an oceanview guarantee on both.

 

Magic is a few extra hours drive to Miami (Breeze is PC) which would involve me driving the day before and spending money on a hotel, but since price is the same for an extra day, that's a wash to me based on a per-day rate.

 

It will be me (female) with my 2 young daughters, 8 and 13, if safety is an issue at any of the ports.  We really, really want to go to Aruba, and the ship is in port all day (9am-11pm), so it seems like a no brainer, but it makes me wonder why the 8-day isn't substantially more money.  Dates are exactly the same.

I would pick the Magic because 1 it’s longer, 2. Has better ports (IMO), and 3 you get to extend your vacation 1 more day (hotel stay).

I was thinking the southern ports are better too because Grand Turk and Amber Cove are a dime a dozen out of eastern Florida.  I can also hit those up on a shorter, therefore much cheaper, sailing.

Both great ships, but the 8 day Southern Caribbean wins in my book! 😎

8-night Magic sailing has a far superior itenerary.

Here's another vote for the 8 day on the Magic. I've been on this ship 3 times and LOVE The Magic! Plus Aruba is a great port to visit with some really good excursions.

My opinions are as follows:

1. Magic > Breeze

2. 8 > 7

3. Southern > Eastern

 

The decision would be an easy one for me.  However, you will have a great time no matter what ship/itinerary you pick.

8 days is always better than 7. Southern Carib is better than Eastern.

Both would be an absolute blast. I always give the edge to longer itineraries because even that extra day is never enough! Plus, Aruba isn't one you get the chance to go to every day, and it is sure worth it.

We had this same question and our answer was yes.

We are doing the Breeze in March and the Magic in April.

And your cruise cabin price per day is lower too if both cruises cost the same.  I'm all about getting the longest cruise possible for the smallest amount of money possible.

I would say Magic. We loved those ports! (except we did not have a Amber Cove on our trip) We really like the Magic as well. It is one of those good problems to have as both itineraries are great!

I would take the 8 day Southern any day over the Eastern.  Great ports, and 1 day longer cruise.

I vote for Magic 8 day, as well. I have almost that same itinerary for the second leg of my B2B in April on the Magic. My first leg is only 6 days, but in total I’ll have 14 days. The Southern Caribbean ports of Aruba and Curacao sold me.
