Guests in The Retreat when dining in Luminae

We will be in a suite again on an upcoming cruise but another couple we are traveling with will be in Aqua Class.  We plan to take them to dinner in Luminae one night so my questions is can we also take them into The Retreat that evening for a cocktail before or after dinner?

Generally non-suite guest  (Suites, Zenith and High Blue Chip Members are given access) are not permitted to use  The Retreat.   Having said that the Concierge may make an exception so you might politely ask and be prepared to be denied.

I once arranged a private tour and the port was a tender port.   I asked the Concierge if I could have the 3 other couple accompany us being escorted to the Tender for priority,  the concierge told us it would be no problem.   Not wanting to take advantage  I had the other members of our group wait outside The Retreat and I checked in and waited outside the lounge with my guests until the next group was escorted to the Tender.

Asking for a couple to join you for a short while one night is unlikely to be an issue. However, there are occasionally special events (like meet the officers) where Michael’s can be very busy and they may ask you to avoid. The concierge was kind enough to include friends of my son (not in a suite) in an invite to the helipad sail away too.

The snag comes when suite guests become too demanding...Expecting to be able to bring friends in on a regular basis. We did experience this on one cruise (and it was one with a busy Michael’s)...It is unfortunate when suite guests push boundaries too far as that tends to be when concierge staff then stick more rigidly to the rules.

We were traveling with friends who were not in a suite. The concierge offered them access on a limited basis. We didn't ask. Basically they could join us during times when the lounge was not being used by many suite guests. She said if we were all there and suite guests came in and did not have a seat that we should get up and leave. We just avoided the busy times and did not take advantage of her generosity. I think I sat at the bar with one of the non-suite guests in the middle of the afternoon for about an hour. Once. There was no one else in there with us.

Another time, while traveling with a good friend and NOT in a suite, the concierge recognized us both from a previous cruise when we were in the PH. She invited us in to "have a drink and visit with her".

The times right before dinner seems to be the most busy in the Retreat Lounge. Bringing guests in at that time is less likely to happen. Perhaps you could ask for an after dinner visit if you are denied access before dinner.
