Neptune Suite vs Balcony

My sister and I will be in a Neptune Suite and my daughter and her SO will be in a balcony.  What will we get in the suite (besides more room) that my daughter won't?  I was on Royal Caribbean and they had special fruit plates, nice little dessert plates, etc. they would surprise us with.   Does HAL do things like this?

Access to the Neptune Lounge. A bottle of sparkling wine when you board.

 

As to appetizers and fruits, I think fruit is placed in all cabins. But I think you can order appetizers for the Neptune Suite, but not for a regular cabin. Could be wrong on that...

Neptune Suites can have breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill (Club Orange on the Koningsdam & N Statendam).  They also have a nicer breakfast room service menu than a regular verandah.

 

The Neptune Lounge will give you access to the concierge(s) there to help with whatever you need, literally as well as the munchies there (continental breakfast type things in the early morning), lunch munchies at that time and hors d’hoeuvres in the later afternoon.

 

You can order appetizers for your room (just see your concierge the day before) and those you can share with your cruise companions since you are in your room.

 

Free laundry, dry cleaning, pressing are a few of the other things that I can think of off the top of my head.

Breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill on most ships.  Only those actually in the suite are allowed.

You will also have Club Orange access.  Your friends can pay extra for club orange but not the Pinnacle Grill breakfast. 

Club Orange varies by ship. If you're on a Pinnacle Class, Nieuw Statendam or Koingsdam, Club Orange is in a separate dining area from the MDR.  In other ships its part of the MDR.  You might wish to research that further.  If they do not purchase club orange and you're not on a Pinnacle, you can still enjoy each others company in the MDR.  You'll just have an expanded menu with one or two additional choices.

We like the free hors d'oeuvres delivered to your rooms.  We would ask the concierge to have the snacks delivered to our room at 5 PM for cocktail hour.  Since we had late dinner, this would give us several hours for socializing.  We have ordered hors d'oeuvres for as many as eight persons in our aft Neptune Suite.

If you are traveling with a number of others, the Neptune Suite is a great place to entertain. 

 

Years ago, our family of 18 sailed on the Oosterdam for mom's 80th birthday.

 

She enjoyed the extra space, as well as the short walk across the hall to the Neptune Lounge.

 

18 people in one suite was still very spacious.

Neptune suite passengers have complimentary laundry and dry cleaning included. Verandah passengers do not.

There has always been a small fresh flower arrangement on the coffee table in our Neptune Suites on the Zuiderdam and Nieuw Amsterdam; a very nice touch.

In addition, there was a separate dressing table area that was very handy for me in drying/styling my hair.  (Also Less humidity there than the bathroom from showers.)

One Neptune tip - on most ships you will get a bottle of sparkling wine in your cabin as a "gift" from the Captain.  I do not like the taste of it so I exchange it for a bottle of house wine (give it to the Neptune concierge).  You can even take this house wine to the main dining room to enjoy with dinner without paying the corkage fee, as it is a HAL bottle (a tip is nice though).
