I boasted yesterday about better nights, serves me right, awake since 3. I couldn't remember the district of London where my grandson had his wedding reception some years ago, and as it was driving me mad I had to look on here on google maps and find it. Did so, and at least I got the initial letter right. Does anyone else have these crazy things nagging at you? I bet some of you do. I hope the coughing invalids are all improving, and that it might be a good news day for a change. Good morning to you too , I did dose off again for a hour or so , we just had a little rain shower and husband jumped out of bed to bring in the seat cushions, rain wasn’t expected until Friday anyway our cases are packed out for a early afternoon dinner and then to airport for evening flight home and get home for about 2 in the morning so will probably be on here for a wee while 😉 .
Beckett Posted February 22, 2023 #43078 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Good Morning All How are our poorly sick friends today? I hope you are all feeling a little better and wish you well. @brian1I love York and Harrogate and think you'd find plenty to do over a 3-day stay. York Minster is glorious and certainly worthy of a couple of visits. You can do the city wall walk, the ghost walk, the museums, the bars and restaurants - lovely. If you are fond of a bevvy or three there's no better place than Newcastle. There are a couple of fab hotels on the quayside and the welcome is great. Have a great day everyone and happy packing to those who are going away very soon. Best wishes as always. Jane xxx 6
lincslady Posted February 22, 2023 #43079 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Good luck with the journey, Purdey. It is never the best day of a trip! It will be good if everything is on time, and you can get home and to bed on time. Back to Lincoln - just to say that of course the cathedral is glorious, and well worth a fairly long visit. 2

York is fabulous but why not stay on the train a bit longer and come to Scotland? Best bring your wellies though 💦 - it is however a lovely sunny day today!

grapau27 Posted February 22, 2023 #43088 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Good afternoon. After a nice morning by the beach it is now raining and 5°C. I have just booked a cruise on Aurora. We were last on Aurora in October 2004 and it was our first P&O cruise. We had Pauline's late mam and dad with us on that cruise. I hope everyone is well.

Peanut006 Posted February 22, 2023 #43092 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Hi everyone, hope you are all ok today. Its very blustery here today but with good spells of sunshine but feeling cold. Well I still haven’t got any further with my ironing & packing, maybe after a cup of coffee. I have been growing my hair into a bob but not been very happy with it as it made me look old and frumpy, so this lunchtime I rang a hairdresser that I had heard good reports of and she had an appointment in 30 mins available. Just back home and I have a fabulous pixie cut. Michelle

Edinburgh and further north say Fort William and the Hogwarts Express. Maybe Orkney and Shetland too Then there is the Isle of Man and Ireland. That leaves hardly any time for cruising 🙂

wowzz Posted February 22, 2023 #43097 Share Posted February 22, 2023 Strangely enough we went to Lincoln old quarter for lunch today. Couldn't face Steep Hill, so parked by the Castle. Free on road parking for two hours - not many places that allow you to do that these days. Mooched around the shops for a while, followed by an excellent lunch in the Wig & Mitre.

If you do go to York, consider Bettys for lunch, or better still an afternoon tea. Very civilised, and good food (I wouldn’t recommend their fish and chips, but wife says it’s a daft thing to order there anyway.). Downside’s the likely queue, and the price. Excellent pastries etc though. 2
