One minute doing the Macarena at a sail away party, the next giving a very knowledgeable lecture in a blacked out theatre and the next having pax flat out on loungers after dinner, describing the visible stars Ahhhh, cruising. It’s good, innit? We had Leon on our last trans Atlantic, good cruise director very knowledgeable astronomer, we had a couple of nights where we went out on deck and he had the lights turned out to give a lecture and name the various stars, great views of the milky way when there is no light pollution. Son of Anarchy Posted April 11, 2021 #18702 Share Posted April 11, 2021 Lovely fellow Leon. Went to his astronomy talks about 10 years ago, fantastic. Didn't see him again until our last cruise January last year when I went to his talks again. Much to our pleasant surprise he hosted our table at the Peninsula lunch. Gave us a very interesting insight into what a cruise director does. Hope we get him as cruise director again.
Beckett Posted April 11, 2021 #18703 Share Posted April 11, 2021 Good luck to all those small businesses who can open their doors tomorrow - and commiserations to those have not survived. To all of us having highlights, straightenings, cuts and blow drys this week - enjoy. When my hairdresser called me to make an appointment, and to judge the length of that appointment, I told her I wanted to look a bit more up to date and a few years younger. She said she doesn't do plastic surgery. Oh well, I tried. Jane.x 13

So my thinking is, once it's back in its usual short style most of the grey hair won't be as noticable. I hope🤞 Avril

It’s good, innit? Excellent! And a man of many talents. He did a series of lectures on astronomy on one cruise we did and at the crew talent show did an impersonation of Freddie Mercury (complete with fish nets, prosthetics and Hoover 😆) and was a knock-out! Has a very good voice too but perhaps the most surprising and interesting fact we learned from him was that he originally trained in ballet! I had been thinking of getting a pixie cut when I was due to have it cut early in January but I have been really happy to have a bob during this last lockdown because a bob doesn't really grow out it is just a bit longer so I think I will keep the bob rather than change the style.

Rare Eddie99 Posted April 11, 2021 #18710 Share Posted April 11, 2021 Mine’s Thursday too Ironically, it’s just long enough now to tie back and feel quite tidy. It’s not a good look though - I’m far too old & haggard to sport an Essex facelift (sorry Essex people) It’s a lovely day in the shire, though the temperature still leaves something to be desired. Rare P&O SUE Posted April 11, 2021 #18712 Share Posted April 11, 2021 Morning all, looking forward to my haircut Tuesday and a walk with a friend Wednesday. Two events, I feel quite giddy! Not much happening today though, have a good one all 😊
Rare Eddie99 Posted April 11, 2021 #18713 Share Posted April 11, 2021 Here’s our sunrise and then an arty pic of teazles taken on our 11k steps walk. Really nice. And it will soon be time for a G&T before roast chicken Sunday lunch. Simple pleasures - we’ve learned to make the most of them this last year, haven’t we? (btw, not UFOs @ sunrise - just reflected lights as the pic is taken through the window)
grapau27 Posted April 11, 2021 #18714 Share Posted April 11, 2021 We had a lovely church service this morning and our organist played the National Anthem near the end of the service. Afterwards we took some goodies through for our Sarah and have stopped for 10 minutes to look at Azura. I'm looking forward to getting a haircut tomorrow. indiana123 Posted April 11, 2021 #18715 Share Posted April 11, 2021 (edited) Because I'm new here I haven't got a regular hairdresser yet. Found a lady, recommended, who comes here but I have to wait another fortnight. I am usually a very social person. Until last year I helped in a 'cabaret' bar on Fridays and Saturdays, lots of noise, music and dancing, and I also belong to a few groups and we were always out and about, but I am feeling a little trepidation about getting back into crowds or shops again. That's just not like me.. does anyone else feel a little like that? Edited April 11, 2021 by indiana123

I think it is good and helpful to feel some trepidation at the moment, I certainly am although I don’t have such an active social life as you appear to. People are still testing positive for the virus and people are still dying. If feeling some trepidation makes people more careful and risk averse, the chances of getting ill are reduced.

Couldn't agree more - even when restrictions were lifted last year we kept away from crowds, restaurants (indoors) and basically kept to many of the original restrictions. Preferred / prefer to play it safe and can't see much changing for us over the coming months other than the chance to travel more across in to Wales and more places open at the weekend. Arrangements won't change at work so it would be difficult to be living with loads of restrictions there but having easier restrictions outside of work doesn't seem to make much sense.

I am still a little nervous of being near to people who could possibly be carrying the virus. We don't have a particularly busy social life and kept away from bars and restaurants 3rd last year even when we weren't locked down.

Hi Josy. Mine is the same. It grew into a curly bob from a pretty short style but it's just too long now. Like you, I quite like the bob and will probably keep it now. It's my highlights that need attention because they give my hair some body. Enjoy tomorrow. Jane.x

Dont know if it helps but my family members are feeling the same - and they are tough, little Highland ladies normally - its breaking my heart - so I have arranged with my hairdresser to take them both (identical 83yr old twins) with me next Friday and we will all get sheared together - they are a bit shaggy but actually look quite cute in a sheepdog sort of way, me, more elderly Highland pony out of control mane and if its not raining, there is a delightful little cafe attached to the local farm shop with an outdoor area for a little lunch - hopefully that will help them see how going out can be managed. I think we will have many many varieties of fallout affecting people as the actual pandemic slows, maybe even greater impact than the virus itself 5

Avril I know how you feel as I have hardly been out since this all began. I’m not sure when I will ever set foot in a supermarket again. However we must overcome this feeling of being scared and move onwards, the levels are now so low. We have booked a short holiday in June in an out of way hotel in a very big room so we get away from our home. We have also booked a Seacation later in a large cabin Clubclass on Princess where we can keep mostly to ourselves and enjoy the balcony. We will overcome this.
