Snow and 35 mph winds. Gusting to 65 mph. Blizzard conditions. Can't see across the street. The 7th blizzard of this winter. Because of Covid all the schools here have E learning. Good thing or there would be a lot of make up days. Getting old.

Covid rates way down - guess no one is getting tested anymore!  Our wonderful NYC mayor has started a firestorm by allowing professional athletes and celebrities/performers coming to NYC to be unvaccinated starting today.  Police and fire depts. up in arms - as well they should be.  In my neck of the woods masks are being used less and less.  Looking forward to warmer weather (it was 60 degrees Saturday, today is now 37) and our Diamond cruise in June.

Hi.  Michigan here.

Case numbers seem to have bottomed out at relatively low levels.  Because of this, starting next week case reporting will be reduced to once a week on Wednesdays.

Several of the ringleaders of the gang that allegedly tried to kidnap and kill our dear Governor are on trial.  It'll be a while before we see the results of that.

Temperatures here are up and down - snow and ice one day, short sleeves the next.

Just when you think life is actually improving and we're kinda emerging

from this Covid crap --along comes the appalling war in Ukraine

and then a fresh variant of Covid, which we seem to have here in Barbados.

But by now

the Barbados public is well trained in mask-wearing, hand sanitizing etc

and it's only the careless who are coming down with it.

Don't let it stop you coming ashore here, though...

We (NY) are also seeing an increase in covid cases due to new variant.  Keep safe, everyone.

This pandemic is not quite "over" yet, is it?!

Even though humanity desperately wants to get it behind us.

Suggest y'all have a look at this

and see how these afflictions usually last 3-4 years...

Covid has begun to rise again in the Myrtle Beach area. Bars are the hardest hit right now.

NY is now considered a "hotspot."  I think we are up to a 9% positivity rate.  Spring break for the Northeast was last week - along with Easter and Passover.  I am sure the numbers are going to shoot up higher now.

I live in central NY. Last week news was reporting we were the epicenter for the new variant. Yikes!

Here on the island of Barbados

I just tested positive for Covid on Saturday afternoon

after waking from my usual afternoon nap
and feeling feverish!

It feels a lot like Dengue Fever!

Yesterday morning early was bad

(most of that was simply low blood sugar)

and I spent Sunday living on Paracetamol

but this Monday morning things are much improved

and it seems I'll live after all!

OK so this is what Bad News looks like...

Hope you make a speedy recovery, and symptoms aren't too bad.  My brother (who barely goes out and 90% of the time wears a mask when he does) just tested positive yesterday- fever, cough, congestion, headache.  I am a bit worried, as he is obese, has severe diabetes, high blood pressure.  Making him call Dr. today to see what his options are for treatment.

Thank you for your kind and caring words!

Luckily, both Wife and I have had our 3 shots of Astra-Z

last year -and that's probably standing me in good stead, now!

Yesterday was a crapper, but today I'm a lot brighter!

I'm just stuck in the house for a week - a looong week!

I sure hope your brother does well.

With diabetes and obesity, he will need medical help!

Thank you for your kind sentiments!

I'm having mild symptoms, nothing to be worried about

and nothing

that two Panadol/paracetamol tabs every 6 hrs. can't handle.

Today has been Sore Throat Day -yesterday was Panadol Day!

plus I discovered some expired COVONIA Cough Syrup (2017!)

in the medicine cabinet

so it's still got plenty of life in it -like me. Lol!

I've been instructed to keep myself to myself

until Saturday coming.   No big deal.

It's a lot like Dengue Fever (lethargy).

This is how I felt yesterday morning,

before breakfast to raise my blood sugar level.

Sorry to hear this, keep us posted and take care of yourself!

My son has a house on Roatan,

- more cases popping up there past weeks

Turns out the nights are a lot worse than the days!

The nights are when the sinus congestion sets in

along with an annoying tickly cough at bedtime

(you know how that goes!).

More and more this confirms my suspicions

that this is my second bout of Covid, the first being

Feb. 10th. - March 3rd. 2020 when I came down with

Something Suspiciously Nasty,

along with many other Barbados islanders.

The recent clogged-up nights trying to sleep ..are very similar!

That (Feb. 2020) was Early Covid, version 1.0

before W.H.O. had even named the damned thing!

Nine weeks after I finally ditched it in early March

after three long and persistent weeks,

the clotting factor we now know about, came into play

and found my waiting 90% occlusion in my LAD coronary artery,

and Voila! there was my STEMI heart attack

on the morning of Friday 8th. May 2020,

resulting in 6 days and 5 nights in the local Hospital.

Oh it's been great fun -lol

Luckily I've had my 3 shots of Astra-Zeneca, during 2021

and that is now standing me in good stead!
Apologies for the long ramble, but y'all got me going!

Aplmac -

Thanks so much for the updates.  Hang in there.  I also came off a cruise right before covid became a known thing.  I had never been so sick - 103 fever, headache, sore throat, cough.  Dr. tested me for strep and flu - negative.  No covid test.  Took me 3 weeks to shake the cough.  Hope you quickly get over this.  My brother went to Dr. yesterday and - due to his medical conditions - was given the covid anti-viral pills to

take.  He is pretty miserable with congestion - said he went through a whole box of tissues in one day.  Hoping everyone on this thread takes the above quote seriously - don't ever think it can't happen to you!

Hi, Michigan again.  A couple of very quick updates:

  • New reported cases are about double what they were two weeks ago and quadruple what they were four weeks ago.  The trend is not our friend.
  • Four alleged kidnapping ringleaders got their sentences... two were set free and two had mistrials.  Maybe the government overreached?  The lead prosecutor resigned.

Covid rates still on uprise in NY.  CDC advises masks be worn indoors again.  Broadway extending mask mandate until 6/30.  My brother still had cough from covid - I made him go to Dr. today.  Turns out he has "covid pneumonia" which is supposedly a side effect from covid.  On 2 meds.  Dr. said he himself had it a few weeks ago.  We are heading to Florida Sunday for a few days, then onto Atlanta for a wedding Memorial Day weekend.  Have plenty of masks for airport, plane, restaurant.   When will this ever end????

Haven't worn a mask in over a year except for one business.  Have been eating out since May 2020.  Restaurants are busy and are finally getting enough help with only an occasional employee wearing a mask.  Went on a fun vacation to Tennessee earlier this year with no masks needed.  Some of my friends have had covid recently but none had anything more then congestion and a cough.
