My hubby is from St Paul . My SIL attended the Central High school reunion a week ago and both she and her spouse have a very bad case of Covid . She was treated at the Mayo Clinic.

I'm sorry that they both have such a bad case of Covid!  Hopefully they start to feel better quickly.

I know a lot of places got hit bad in Florida  but I am hearing a lot of the deaths are from North Carolina.  Entire towns have been wiped out due to the flooding.  Have seen pictures of Chimney Rock's main street before and after, sad.  Asheville is cut off as many of the highways are washed out.  Hearing they don't even know the magnitude as power is out and communications are limited.  Hearing conflicting stories on Biltmore, their website says closed for next 2 days but check back, they are just outside Asheville.  Overall sad situation in the mountains of NC.  Unfortunately hurricanes can impact many miles inland.

So true.  Got this from a friend who was trying to check on her mother-in-law in NC.  Hard getting any communications in or out of certain areas.

We are here at the Disneyland Hotel for DH’s niece’s wedding.  It is a beautiful day.  Not too hot…not too cold…just right.

That's right Hurricane Ian was in 2022.   Time sure does fly by these days.  I was thinking Ian was last September.  I saw some photos on the news of Ft Myers - so sad. And they didn't even get a direct hit.  I think if I went through 2 hurricanes destroying or severly damaging my home or business within 2 years I would move.

I was talking to my friend in Naples today, and she said a friend of hers who lives near the beach in Naples has not been able to sell her home (or Condo?) since Hurricane Ian.

They say it’s a luxury liner and some indoor scenes reminded me of the Queen Mary 2 where even  get their own area .  It’s fiction and probably getting some backing from the cruise lines to entice people to cruise. No one has mentioned the fictional passengers who are nearly all young , pretty , handsome, thin and vivacious. Where are the gray haired folks ?

We are currently at a hotel in Covington GA tonight. The hurricane went through our neighborhood in South Carolina early Friday morning. One of the weather sites listed the wind speed at 82 mph at 5:37 am. That’s about the time a very large tree fell and missed our neighbors bedroom by about 10 feet. Our short street had 5 trees across the road. Luckily several of our neighbors had chain saws and got them taken care of. Lots of other trees down but only minor damage to one porch. They estimate no power for about a week.

We decided to find a hotel for a few days. On I-20 between Augusta and here the traffic was slow but moving. We tried to get gas but all of the stations were out. Hopefully, by the time we leave they get more.

All in all, we are thankful none of us had more damage. We have great neighbors, we all got together last night for dinner. One neighbor has a gas range and we all brought stuff from our refrigerator- it will mostly need to be trashed after a week. It was a strange menu, but good to get together.

We have read about the devastation in North Carolina. I hope they can recover quickly.

My previous home town, Washington, GA had a direct hit from Helene.  The whole county is without power or landlines.  No stores open as no electricity.  No gas stations open.  I feel terrible.  I heard from my closest two friends briefly yesterday…but not since as they need to conserve cell battery.  They can charge the phone in their car but I don’t know how long that takes.  No matter how much preparation I would have made if I still lived there…I would never have expected to be without power for days!

Once when I lived there the power was out for three days…but that was in the winter…and there were stores open!  I hear Augusta, Lincolnton and Thomson (nearby towns) are equally decimated.  I wish there was something I could do!

Some people down the street that recently finished repairs to their homes from last year's hurricane Ian were once again flooded.

The devastation in so many states is so very sad and last I heard there is 52 people who died and millions with no electricity.   😪

I don’t follow the news when I am on holidays but I am so sorry to read this and my thoughts go out  to those  on Dani’s thread (and those who read regularly and don’t post) who are directly impacted or have friends & loved ones impacted by this devastation.

Good afternoon, currently enjoying a nice glass of wine in the sunshine while my phone re-charges.

Had 3 options for my last day in Adelaide: a full day winery tour with lunch included in the Barossa Valley or a long scenic walk by the water or some interactions with native wildlife in particular with birds.  So you all know I am a bird nerd..

Headed up into the beautiful Adelaide Hills which were a bit brisk to start with but warmed up once the sun came out.D9ECE9B2-67CE-4292-840F-7363B94FD566.thumb.jpeg.e36556020e7df17c22e103d0202a0f4a.jpeg

That’s it for Adelaide - flying home  tonight.  The below photo represents me after all the good food, wine & chocolate I’ve enjoyed during my visit.  No sure that all the kms of walking have balanced it out..,8FFCB17D-BC3B-400A-B2AC-CF3B477B7282.thumb.jpeg.75cc4622a8f1ac6fbcc342103d769516.jpeg
