Who cruised on the Jubilee?

I went 11 years between my first and second cruise and now take 3 cruises a year.

My first trip was on the Jubilee out of Puerto Rico.

Amazing itinerary with St Thomas, Antigua, St Lucia, Dominica and more.

Anyone else cruise on the Jubilee? I heard it has been scrapped.

Yes, she was scrapped several years ago after being renamed several times.  At the time of scrapping, she was named "Henna".  Below is a picture of her during the scrapping process.

Here she is after being run aground for scrapping.  Note that the scrapping process had just begun.  Usually the first ceremonial step in the process is the "snipping" off of the bow.  Here you can see that the scrappers' torches have basically marked where the cuts along the prow are going to be done.  You can also see where some holes have been cut in the side of the ship to allow some of the larger objects inside the ship to be removed.

Jubilee was my first cruise when I was 15. We deemed it the "cruise from hell". One of the workers on like dropped a stack of deck chairs on my sister's toe, prompting a visit to infirmary that they tried to charge us for. Our neighbors were partying until 4am. When my dad tried to find the room steward to complain, he was in the room partying! We missed 2 of 3 port stops due to a hurricane. Took us to Ensenada instead. Have away free drinks for an hour. They had to put barf bags in elevators and all along the stairwells. It took me 10 more years to get on a ship again. Took my parents 20! All 4 of us were given a 10% off no conditions coupon. I am waiting to use mine on Panama or Europe!

Jubilee was our first cruise, April 1991 for our 15th Anniversary. The Mexican Riviera from San Pedro, we had a great time! The ride back was rough, saw a woman throw up in the fake plant next to the elevator and the whole ship smelled like vomit, lol!

Oh these scraping pictures make me very sad.  I was a crew member (casino) 1982-1985 on the Tropical, Carnival’s first new build .  The Jubilee, The Holiday and The Celebration were under construction.  They had a contest with the employees and one of my casino team members suggested the Jubilee!  I don’t remember what she won.  Great times.  I sailed on her once as a passenger

Our first cruise was on the Carnival Jubilee.

Mexican Riviera, round trip LA.

We saw a total eclipse of the sun off Mazatlán on that sailing.

Good times. ====> Early July 1991

What a coincidence! I have a rare cruise card

from that specific voyage ...now you mention the eclipse!

SkierPete kindly gave it to me

along with an explanatory letter about this special sailing

to witness the eclipse of Thursday 11th. July 1991, off Mazatlan!

Your sailing date was 7th. July 1991.

I'll bet you never thought you'd see your cruise card again.

Would you happen to still have it, by any chance?

I only cruised on the Jubilee one time. It was a 7 day Mexican Riviera cruise from LA (San Pedro) in 1990. :classic_cool:

I still have

that photo/scan of your July 1986 cruise card -for Holiday

so far the earliest known cruise card....

I've got a bunch of the special handouts that they gave us on that cruise, but I don't think I have the cruise card. Too bad, huh? Nice to see yours. Wasn't that a wonderful cruise? Did you stay on the ship at Mazatlán when the captain decided to go back out to sea due to cloud cover there? We stayed on the ship, and it worked out great.

Ooops! I need to read things more carefully. I went chasing off with the notion that you were on that cruise, but rereading your post, it looks like not. ??

The Jubilee was my first cruise way back in 1987.  We left out of Miami and went to St Thomas, Nassua  and San Juan.

My husband's family ( we were engaged) liked to cruise and had been on the other ships.  I found it so exciting...having to get dressed up and everything was so Fancy!!

I keenly collect Carnival cruise cards (since 2007)

and have already assembled a collection in a 3-ring binder

that impresses crew, when I cruise with it to show them.

A few of you readers have also from time to time

mailed me a few ancient treasures, and thank you again!

My email is dh-jennie (at) outlook dot com if anyone

is inclined to part with any old Carnival cruise cards

found lurking at the bottom of a socks drawer....

Thank you for your generosity!

Jubilee was my first Carnival  cruise back in July of 1986.  It was one of the first sailings of the ship.  I also booked it through Singlesworld and it was an "under 35" sailing. Had a blast with skeet shooting off the aft deck, going to the midnight buffet and checking out Cuba up on the funnel deck.

I had forgotten about the skeet shooting which reminded me that people were  hitting golf balls off the back of the ship along with the skeet shooting. I don’t think either of those activities would be environmentally acceptable now, lol!

Cruised the JUBILEE 3 times on the Mexican Riviera out of San Pedro . . . don't remember skeet shooting but did hit a bucket of balls off the fantail. Those were the days . . . Baked Alaskan congo line in the MDR, cherries jubilee prepared right at your table, waiters all singing God Bless America. Paid more for an inside cabin then than I do today ! Good times. 🙂

Gary, The conGA line was for the Baked Alaska, I don't care to know what a baked Alaskan smells like 🙂

The Carnival Jubilee was my first cruise for my honeymoon, back in June 1987.  We went to the Eastern Caribbean out of Miami.  It cost me $2K for the lowest level inside cabin, but the flight from L.A. and an overnight hotel in Miami was included.  I tell newbie cruise friends (post 2010 cruisers) that the experience was much "grander" than what you would get on a Celebrity or Princess ship of today.  The food, entertainment, and service was top notch, even being in steerage.  Plus, back then, there were virtually no children on board, and everyone followed the dress code rules.  Still cruising with the same wife.

How about pillow fights while combatants were sitting above the pool with their legs clinging to a pole that was stretched across the pool?  Or two women diving into the pool and trying to stuff as many ping pong balls as they could into their bikinis?

Like a number of others, Jubilee was our first sailing, ~85 sailings ago.  Mexican Riviera RT LA.

Got us hooked on cruising but wow has it changed.   Some for the better, some for not so much but lots of great sailings since.
