KirkNC Posted April 29, 2020 #1 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Not sure how the cruise lines will handle this going forward. Hard to imagine how tendering will work in the post coronavirus world. Many of the most unique ports are tendered, will they drop them from itinerary’s??

Will there need to be more docking facilities, or possibly smaller ships? We once even had to tender in a non-tender port, Corfu. There were 3 ships and only 2 docks. So there would also be potential scheduling problems if tenders were eliminated. Edited April 29, 2020 by ontheweb
Sir PMP Posted April 29, 2020 #3 Share Posted April 29, 2020 More reason to build small and medium size ships.. 2

What is there about tendering that prompted your question? The proximity of the passengers on the tender? If so, what out muster on the deck? What about the ship's theater? What about excursion buses?
KirkNC Posted April 29, 2020 Author #5 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Yes, yes, yes what about them. Tendering though is more packed in (except for mustering).
Rare Mary229 Posted April 29, 2020 #6 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Because of high tides and remote locations there will always be tender ports. The amount of people on tenders may be reduced
Tampa Girl Posted April 29, 2020 #7 Share Posted April 29, 2020 I think that social distancing is not going to be an issue aboard ships once cruises resume - at least not until COVID.19 pops up again. Fighting viruses aboard a ship has been done by quarantine, hygiene and cleaning.
cb at sea Posted April 29, 2020 #8 Share Posted April 29, 2020 Why would "tendering" be an issue? You'll be crammed together on the ship...I don't see the problem.
