Whose Booking New Cruises? I did!

Recommended Posts

Not booked yet, but hope to repeat the cruise and trip I missed this year.

Waiting until at least the end of June to get a feel on how all this is going to shake out and what changes are going to happen to itineraries and if ports that appeal will even be welcoming cruise ships by next year.

Already booked for the 2022 Grand World.  When they publish the prices for the 2022 GWC it may eat up all our FCC..

Hoping to see a resurgence of the Grand Med pop up in 2021.  One never knows in these times and one can always hope.

Well, I may be crazy, but I've booked two. I had FCC from NCL from a March cancellation and booked that for late Jan. into Feb. 2021. Then got an email from HAL with the casino offer. Looked at the dates and decided that I could add a second cruise (10 days) boarding 1 day after the first so made some calls and have made a deposit - and added the insurance in case I need to cancel. My main concern is if something goes wrong on the first cruise and I can't make the second - thus the insurance.

We will both be pretty much retired by then and figured if I was going to pay for the airfare, I might as well make it worth my while and get out of the snow and cold as long as I can.

I HAVE!!!!!  On April 30th I put down a deposit on the 3/31/22 Volendam 16 day Panama Canal.  We'll physically be transiting the canal on my 50th birthday.  The pricing with an agency group discount, my casino discount and the "Have it all" promo made it a deal too good to pass up - especially when the timing was so perfect!!!!!

Same with us! We booked a Panama Canal in April 2022 Nieuw Amsterdam and I turn 60 on the actual day we will be transiting.  Such a bright spot on the horizon!

I was looking at a March 2022 Panama Canal on the Volendam.  I was very hesitant to book a cruise on HAL especially with the news of the CEO resigning.  However, I may book because the deposit is low, refundable and I love the itinerary!

I plan on booking at the end of the summer, hoping for more visibility on the future of cruising.    My next ship is a small ship with less than 250 people, North American ports where I can possibly  get off the ship and drive home

Booked the Zaandam for November 2020 to Hawai'i - Tahiti, round trip from San Diego.  Live in San Diego North County, no airfare , great price!  Suspect that HAL will cancel, hmmm...

Appreciate the optimism in these challenging times and initially shared a similar positive sentiment. In March we booked a B2B for January 2021 thinking certainly things will be back to normal by then . My wife (as is typical) then talked some sense into me.

The bottom line is that we won't understand the product we are 'buying' for some time yet which I don't see as a good bet.

Severe health related boarding restrictions, mask requirements, restricted public areas. modified itineraries, and perhaps even changes of ships and even disappearing lines.  Additionally, although hopefully less likely in the future,  the history of violently sick cruise 'nomads' in their  tiny cabins seeking a refuge port is difficult to shake.

We all know some dynamic changes are coming.

Until we are certain how they will impact the cruise experience and we gain a consensus from early 'pioneer (sounds better than guinea pig) cruisers' reports we will sadly refrain from cruising. The poor response of the cruise lines in returning monies has also, in my opinion, not strengthened the case for going 'all in' at this point. I know we collectively hope for an effective treatment, vaccine, etc. to bring our favorite vacation back to its former glory.

I already have two cruises booked on NCL in 2021 so just be to safe I'm booking a 10 night Mexico cruise with unique ports roundtrip from our home city for January 2022.

Loving this positive thread, we all need it!

My sister and her husband have used the FCC from their cancelled May Baltic cruise on the NS for the exact same cruise in 2021, same cabin too! Their obc and perks from the cancelled cruise were honoured, so in addition to the "have it all" promo, they are very pleased. And with the leftover FCC, they plan on booking a holiday 2021 Caribbean cruise when they are available.

Have been eyeing the 2022 WC for awhile now and was going to put down a deposit pre-COVID-19. Did the 2020 WC ever get to formally vote on the itinerary? Am wondering if the release might be delayed due to all of the other headaches HAL is dealing with right now - can't imagine deployment and itinerary planning is first on their to-do list.

We booked Rotterdam Oct 2021, Montreal to Ft Lauderdale, right before the pandemic.  That has been upgraded to exotic ports around Newfoundland, current OV pricing matches what we paid for a Signature Suite.  Definitely hoping that things improve over the next 18 months, this is a cruise we don't want to miss, during our 10 year anniversary.

We used our FCC for Nieuw Amsterdam April, 2022, Panama Canal full transit.  Despite having done a partial transit before, 100% of the ports are new to us.  We got a double length veranda on the hump, next to and past the lifeboats, for better view.

I just put down a deposit on the Nov 3-21 Hawaii Cruise sailing from San Diego on the Koningsdam

I live in San Diego and won't have to worry about air.   This cruise will only sail inside the USA between 2 states with relatively low COVID breakouts.   There will probably be a midnight touch and go to Ensenada unless they waive the PSA (unlikely I surmise)

I am going to start planning my next cruises and quit worrying about refunds!

Who is has something planned?

Weeeellllll, I am on the fence right now.  We have a Princess cruise to Mexico booked, great perks, and nice itinerary.  But, it's sailing too far into the next flu season for my comfort now, after what I'm reading.

HAL has one with a spectacular itinerary, leaving early Fall, but they want $1,200 deposit.  So, I'm debating.  Maybe I'll get my Princess refund around the time that final payment is due for HAL.

I'll have to have Mr. Pcur weigh in and push me off the fence one way or the other.

We booked our very first 14 day cruise, a Eurodam BTB  next March! Yes I am hopeful and choose to remain so. I still continue to think about the wonderful staff we met on our Koningsdam cruise nine weeks ago, and hope they have finally made their way home. Trusting we all return to the sea!

tell me about it, we can't wait to sail again... We are also looking at the Hawaii cruise from San Diego Nov 2020 but also very interested in the  14days New Zealand from Sydney, not nervous about Covid not one bit, more worried about cruises being cancel again.  2020 wasn't the best year to cruise for us

April QM2 NYC-Southampton canceled

May Nieuw Statendam to Norway & fjords canceled (we were both looking forward to that 3* mariner status )

Nov Nieuw Amsterdam Transatlantic from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale also canceled

thankfully we had a beautiful 18days cruise on the Oosterdam from San Diego to Fort Lauderdale in January. Right now I feel I've been stripped of every morsel of pleasure I earned in this life ...

We have five cruises booked for 2021: January 2021 Maasdam Sydney to Singapore (tho' I expect it will be cancelled by Australia), May and June 2021 Westerdam in Mediterranean (I'm guessing 25% chance these will be cancelled), and August 2021 in Iceland and September 2021 Veendam in UK (I feel confident these will take place).

Sadly, we had five cruises cancelled in 2020--the "Year that Wasn't"...
