Rare terrydtx Posted May 12, 2020 #1 Share Posted May 12, 2020 We are booked on two cruises on the Infinity next year. Originally she was to be dry docked in November of this year to be Revolutionized but that was canceled due to the Pandemic. Has this been rescheduled for next year? We booked based upon the fact the ship was to be upgraded this year with new cabins and furniture.
Rare Lady Arwen Posted May 12, 2020 #2 Share Posted May 12, 2020 I would not count on either Infinity or Constellation being upgraded in the near future. Loads of money that Celebrity does not have. Millennium and Summit (M class) have been revolutionized and very recently, Silhouette (S class).
twins_to_alaska Posted May 12, 2020 #3 Share Posted May 12, 2020 As per https://www.celebritycruises.com/cruise-ships no longer a schedule.
jelayne Posted May 12, 2020 #4 Share Posted May 12, 2020 There haven't been new dates published for the Revolutionizing of any of the ships. We have cruises booked on the Constellation, Infinity and Eclipse all of which were slated for updating. Personally given the extended period of time that cruising has been suspended I doubt any ship will revolutionized in 2020 or 2021.
az_tchr Posted May 12, 2020 #5 Share Posted May 12, 2020 RCCL negotiated with the dry dock in Cadiz Spain for a 30 day partial refurbishing instead of the 58 day makeover. Could this be a way to reduce the contract penalty while staying on good terms for the future. No mention of other ships in the press release by RCCL. Constellation’s refurb did not happen for sure but that may have been more of because the shipyard was closed in Spain. Infinity’s is in November so it could still happen. It seems unlikely though since cruise lines are looking to conserve cash in any way they can. If cruises are back up to speed by November, Infinity will just be sitting around doing nothing since no cruises were scheduled for that block of time for the drydock. If they can afford it they might as well renovate it, especially if they have put out any advance money that is unrecoverable. Otherwise the ship will not have the opportunity for a refurb until April/May of 2022, which is when Constellation would also need its refurb done. I wouldn't really consider at a 'refurbishment' since now, nothing passenger facing is expected to change.
TeeRick Posted May 13, 2020 #9 Share Posted May 13, 2020 Ok that makes sense if it is mechanical - related. Particularly on one of their newer mega ships.

This question of refurbishment schedule on Celebrity ships (Revolution) or RCL ships is persistent here on the CC boards. I am not sure why it is so hard to realize that RCCL corporation and all cruise lines are struggling with just survival from no cash flow and large ongoing expenses. There will be no money for refurbishments other than critical mechanical ones needed to operate the ship. And of course there will need to be cash set aside to refurbish those parts of the ship (like medical suites for example) to meet the new CDC guidelines to cruise again. So no upgrades to cabins or new furniture or anything cosmetic. No enhancements like The Retreat. Not for a long time.
