Is this the cruise line that always calls with that “you’ve won a free cruise” scam?

I don't know  who calls, I suspect some time share, but I think is on this cruise line.

It's really quite simple.  Somebody sneezes into their hand, then touches a surface (let's say a railing) with that hand, causing some of their sneeze droplets to be deposited on the railing.  Another person then touches that same railing, getting some of those droplets onto their hand.  They then touch their mouth/nose, providing a way for the virus to enter their respiratory system.

Then don't touch your mouth/nose/face when out in public unless you have washed or sanitized your hands.  It really can be done.

Just a day ago they said they had no anticipated return to cruising date and no decision on vaccine requirements

On the 8th they said they had no plans -- on the 9th the announcement came out that they're restarting cruises from Palm Beach to the Bahamas on July 2, 2021.   The under 250 CDC threshold includes passengers and crew -- don't know how they are going to turn a profit with so little passengers at the fares they have posted with 5 free drinks to boot.

It wasn’t the cruise line calling, but a time share / marketing company offering  “free” cruises on BPCL as an incentive to sit through their presentations. Somewhat like time share companies offering free Disney tickets. It’s not Disney offering the free tickets just like it wasn’t BPCL offering free cruises.

I never took advantage of this offer, but I’ve read several reviews and watched some YouTube videos of people who successfully did. It seems like, as long as you knew what you were getting yourself into (a time share presentation), and didn’t allow them to upsell you, it was a legit way to get on the ship by just paying taxes and port fees.

Most of the complaints seemed to come from people who got suckered into the whole “free cruise” offer, not realizing that they had to sit through a presentation and drive to a different location to collect their tickets, and that they still had to pay port charges, fees, tips, etc, and who also fell for the upsell to upgrade their cabin and add a land vacation (at some crappy Ramada in a seedy part of town) also for an extra fee. But it seems like as long as you remained firm and declined all the upsells, and understood what you were still financially responsible for,  you could truly cruise “almost” for free.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line today announced it has received a green light from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to conduct a simulated sailing.

Following all requirements outlined in the CDC’s Framework for Conditional Sailing Order, a closed-group test cruise will include a full evaluation of Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line’s cleanliness and safety protocols, according to a press release.

A small, private group of pre-selected, fully vaccinated passengers will join a group of fully vaccinated crew members onboard the Grand Classica, departing June 25 for a two-night round-trip cruise from the Port of Palm Beach to Grand Bahama Island.

The sailing will simulate all aspects of the onboard experience, including dining, entertainment, leisure activities and shore excursions.

Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line plans to resume sailing July 2, 2021 and is currently accepting bookings on its website.

Disney got the same approval..............what's it all mean? Still nothing approved after July 1st, so what does it matter.

I think the lines assume that if the test cruises are approved, they'll get approval to sail with customers. CDC said they would provide approval within 5 days of the test cruise results.

Won't the Desantis thing still be in play and prevent sailings anyway.

No, test sailings are for ships which don't plan to require vaccinated customers.

Do people really want to cruise with  unvacinated passengers..............I know I wouldn't want to. Crusing is not that important to me, I can find other things to do and be just as happy.

I never set foot again on a cruiseship, it wouldn't be the end of the world as we know it. I would be fine.

Like anywhere else in the US, and perhaps even more on a cruise, there will naturally be a high % of vaccinated customers, maybe not 95%, but likely quite high. All ships up till now have been sailing with virtually no issues with high % of unvaccinated customers.

Then explain why every so often you hear another ship's crew comes down with Covid and thats with only 100 crew onboard.

Odds get much worse when you have 4 to 5000 people coming onboard from God knows where from.

But you don't and Odyssey, which apparently had a few cases had a lot more than 100 on board. Also, virtually none of that crew was vaccinated.

If you fear the worst and read the right sources, you can find a doom day scenario anywhere.

Guess the CDC is just trying to keep everyone safe and not wanting it to become a dooms day scenario. There is no other place like this where you are confined with  so many people (3000 to 6000) people for 7 days straight, like in a bubble.

Think for now best thing to do is all short cruise, 3 and 4 day cruises until the end of the year.

Why? Because they test, test and continue to test.  The 4 crew on Odyssey never would have known they had covid (like millions across the world) had they not been subject to so much testing.

Grand Classica, BPCL's only ship, has a capacity of 1300 and does 2 day sailings.

Real issue for the US that will be much different then other countries that are cruising now is the American people are  undisciplined, they will make mistakes with all the protocol's.

Even if there are just a few issues, you can bet the CDC will shut down cruising again from the US.

Then we are right back where we started.

With American people doing test cruises, who's to say that would even go well with that and who's to say that the CDC would give a passing grade?

Actually, in your previous post, it mentions that BPCL's test sailings will be fully vaccinated crew and passengers, so there will need to be some form of confirmation, in contravention of DeSantis' law.

Very possible.  Sounds like Celebrity or NCL are a better option for you, or just waiting until you're ready to go when the protocols are acceptable to you.  At some point, they cruise or liquidate.

That may be true and somehow they picked only vaccinated test passengers, but I don't see anywhere on their web site or in the news that they will require vaccinations for the revenue sailings. Like RCI, I assume they are doing test sailings so they don't have to require vaccinations.
