beerman2 Posted June 18, 2020 #26 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Hopefully going to Gulf Coast of Fla. in October that was cancelled in April. Rebooked flight already, Airbnb is booked, car reserved. Fingers crossed we can go, so we can meet up with our Fla. family ( met on a cruise 11 years ago.) Adult beverages , food and laughter will be abundant. tmackel Posted June 18, 2020 #28 Share Posted June 18, 2020 We're spending the summer biking around upper Minnesota. September we're going to Fort Myers and in May to Jamaica for our daughters wedding. We'll think about cruising again in 2022.
livingthedream1 Posted June 18, 2020 #29 Share Posted June 18, 2020 We have done 2 road trips. First to the Smoky Mountains and second to Savannah. Both trips were good but I miss my cruises. Hopefully we will be sailing for our booked Thanksgiving trip on the Sunrise.
K&RCurt Posted June 18, 2020 #30 Share Posted June 18, 2020 I am still working from home so I am actually hoping that continues. We are pretty blessed as we have a large deck on our house, a smaller deck by our pool, the pool and a ht tub, so without having to commute to work every day will be a "staycation" of a few hours in the summer. Additionally, we own a cabin in a resort in the Pocono Mountains, where we also have a large deck. There is a pool and other amenities there, but for the time being we are avoiding that area to avoid contact with "day visitors" to the resort from who knows where. I plan on taking a week or 2 and working from there for a bit of a change of pace. We have a cruise booked on the Pride out of Baltimore in October, but are not too confident it will actually happen.
bafinegan Posted June 18, 2020 #31 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Luckily, we live 4-5 hr drive to Biloxi Gold Coast ( and all those casinos 😉) We have already booked at one for 3 nights that has a pool that faces the Gulf for Aug ( when our cancelled Alaska cruise was to happen 🙄) We understand there will be things we have to do because of the pandemic, but at least there is not the high risk of canceling and wondering if we will get our money back. Who knows, this may scratch that itch 😁1 baf
cruise77 Posted June 18, 2020 #32 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Staycation here, we lives on a beach in Florida, have a pool in back yard and hot tub, only thing missing is someone to serve me my meals. LOL
teknoge3k Posted June 18, 2020 #33 Share Posted June 18, 2020 Since our cruises were cancelled... 2 weeks ago we spent a week in Southport (NC) and a few days at Myrtle Beach. Next month we're going to an AI in Cap Cana in the Dominican Republic and then after that we're going to an AI in Cancun. Kinda excited. Depending on what schools do, we may take the kids to Key West for a few days in August. They said school would start on time here, so we're going to see the process. While we're not going places, we'll be lounging by the pool here at home.

HxFx Posted June 18, 2020 #35 Share Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) We have our first altered vacay starting next week. It’s our annual 4th of July trip to the Florida panhandle to visit our retirement home (aka The In-Laws’). It is mostly the same but driving down instead of flying. Don’t want to deal with the hassles and much more limited flight options now. They live on intercostal and have a dock. Much of the dock has been destroyed by storms though (past where DH is). Still enough space to sit out and tan, plus neighbors have a pool! We will also take the small boat (kept together by duct tape!) to Crab Island. That will really feel like being on a cruise ship 😆 In August we were hoping to go on a cruise but instead will head to the Keys to dive so we won’t have to do a refresher course the next time we can make it to the Caribbean. We would like to cruise in November but if not available maybe we will head to Disney. We were there the last weekend it was open and still have a day left on our pass so get priority if reservations are still required 😜 Edited June 18, 2020 by HxFx
bertram15146 Posted June 18, 2020 #36 Share Posted June 18, 2020 I am currently on a stay-cation just outside Pittsburgh, PA doing some housework, sleeping in and a few day trips. Went to the zoo for the first time in about 4 years yesterday! If our August cruise gets cancelled out of Miami, we are considering still flying down and visiting Miami and driving down to Key West. tonit964 Posted June 18, 2020 #37 Share Posted June 18, 2020 (edited) I've had my last two cruises cancelled and my Oct Panorama cruise I cancelled. So, I have been taking my travel trailer to camp at the beach. It's so relaxing and reminds me of being on a ship. There are oil rigs in the distance and are lit up at night which reminds me of other ships passing by when I would be out on deck. Same. And if they could cook my meals and clean my bathroom in addition to the band and drinks, there's a big tip in it for them. I treasure my pool. It's the next best thing to taking a vacation.
Shirleybird Posted June 19, 2020 #41 Share Posted June 19, 2020 I just booked a site at a campground at the Smokey Mountains for September this morning. Although I had to veto what my hubby wanted which was to fly to Freeport and do a Airbnb. I'm not thrilled getting on a germy airplane even before Covid. But it's been probably 20+ years since I've been to the Smokey's so I'm kinda excited!!!

Joebucks Posted June 19, 2020 #43 Share Posted June 19, 2020 We did a cruise out of Lauderdale this year and was surprised how much we liked the area in the one night we stayed. We're doing another weekend soon. Also going to Hilton Head in a few months

aggiejade Posted June 20, 2020 #45 Share Posted June 20, 2020 Just got back from a 3 night beachside getaway in Panama City Beach, FL. It was heaven! Stayed at Beachside Resort, not fancy but clean and all rooms face the beach with balconies. Beach not crowded at all. We drove from TN, took about 7 hours. I would go back tomorrow in a heartbeat!

We always rented a cabin down there. There are some really nice ones, with great views, that can be rented for the price of a good hotel. But with a lot more space, we've always had a hot tub, usually a pool table or ping pong, a kitchen, & washer/dryer, a grill. I highly recommend going to Cades Cove. It's a beautiful area down in a valley and I love the old settler buildings that are still there (houses, churches, barns). If you go, be sure to take some binoculars because we've always seen bears there. We've done a lot of hiking, too. We haven't been in several years. Need to get back down there. JandPB Posted June 20, 2020 #48 Share Posted June 20, 2020 This is our summer staycation. Unfortunately I have to cook for us instead of being served. The drinks are cheaper and much heavier pours.

Even with the torture of having to cook in your own private galley!
deadmoney Posted June 20, 2020 #50 Share Posted June 20, 2020 We live in Tampa and just got back from two weeks in Englewood. Were not sure about cruising in November(with the new numbers coming out) so we rebooked down there.
