What's up with October 2020?

No cruise will sail until June 2021 at the earliest. Bank it!

Why would you say that?  Even as the numbers are rising casinos are open, hotels are open, bars are open.  At some point, everything will open so I'm not sure why cruising wouldn't open.  States heavily dependent on travel are struggling and at some point the economy will win over people. I'm not saying that is right or wrong...believe me, I thought my BF was going to die of COVID and I was very sick, so it's not something I take lightly.  I also am aware that humans only have so much patience and the economy can only take so much.

The alarming rise in infection (yesterday saw us break the record for highest daily new infections) is making me fear that no country is going to let Americans in.  I have a cruise to Mexico in October and a Mediterranean cruise in May 2021.  I keep seeing how miserably we're doing at controlling this virus and wondering who'd let people from Plague Central in?  Come on, people.  If we don't get this under control, none of us will get to travel for a long, long time.  😞

I just watched an interview with a virologist who talked about just how the virus can so easily spread in public places, including stadiums, cruise ships and prisons. He went on to explain how only a few hours in a stadium could cause massive spread. I don't think he felt he had to explain why a cruise ship would also be a bad idea.

I understand. All it really takes is one cough.

I've got two cruises booked, one for this October and the other in the Fall of 2022. If they HAL cancels out the October cruise, I'll hold off on booking anything more until after 2022  taking my holidays just by air/land. I don't want to deal with cruise lines playing games just to grab money.

Check this out.  I just checked October's dates for Panorama, at first they were showing only Oct 31st sailing and less than 1 minute later the 24th cruise reappeared suddenly....  Also, I'm booked in 11204 on the 24th an accessible stateroom, 11201,11202, and 11203 ARE still available..  Sold out my ass!!       I booked this cruise in December.

Well of course you should. After all, it’s just fear mongering and ought to be entirely discounted.

Hmmmm.....seeing some interesting statistics.... note number of Confirmed cases vs Recovered Cases....pretty close. Just not seeing the leap from  Yes, I have Corona to I have a few weeks to live. I recall the news coverage in January of thousands upon thousands dying in the USA, hospitals overflowing, blah.....Yes Serious stuff, but dont see the leap. Yes, I'll sign a waiver and board next week if I could.

With all this fear mongering, should I go ahead and pay fresh money to book 3 new Cruises in April May 2021 ?

The most I would do for a new booking is put down a deposit and then hope for the best.  I wouldn't buy excursions, drink packages, or anything else.  If you can get a good deal, it might be worth it.

My cancelled April cruise was paid for, so I rolled the money to September.  That was cancelled and I rolled the money to January, but will also get around $1,000 refund.  I wouldn't put new money into a cruise more than the cost of a deposit.  I would only do that if I saw an excellent deal.

Yeah, I remember those predictions.  The media made people think it was a death sentence for everyone.  Things have come a long way since then and I have no issue taking a covid test or signing a waiver to cruise.  I believe the death rate is actually decreasing as more people turn up positive, but do not die.

But, but "thousands upon thousands" have died in the USA since January, the predictions were not incorrect, and there will be thousands more in the coming months. It will eventually be hundreds of thousands.

my deals are excellent and the prices are dirt cheap so I am really tempted to pay non-refundable deposits on three Cruises

Beginning to think Booking a Cruise now, is the same as a loan to Carnival.

I cannot think of any other business where one would pay a deposit to then be told the service for which the deposit was paid cannot happen due to no fault of their own and in order to keep your deposit, pay us more and we’ll provide that service sometime in the future or we’ll just keep your deposit.
