NCL just cancelled all of October sailings

Carnival is still in a much better position than other cruise lines to repay those debts. AD has already said not to expect bargains. I would also expect them to get passengers to increase on board spend.

Do you seriously think Carnival determines that? They probably also state hurricane season ends Nov 30. Hurricanes don't know they have a season.

All US based CRUISELINES won't be sailing out of any US port in October........  The writing is on the wall.

With that said, the option becomes less and less attractive to me the longer this uncertainty goes on. The more cruising supply is restricted, the more ships they unload, among other factors, creates a future cruising price which can be unpredictable and potentially much higher. Obviously, the OBC could help offset that, but could also make the entire cruiser unreasonable in the first place. Also, the longer they continue to not sail, the more unstable they become financially. How does it all look if there is a bankruptcy?

The longer their "PAUSE" is, the more cruisers are going for that $600 onboard credit.

By the time they start sailing again, you have to assume many will have it. So, the spa & steakhouse reservs, excursions, gift shop, etc will be crazy on day1. Many more than usual will have the unlimited drink cards-so the bars may get really crowded.

The longer the pause the higher the likely hood is for reorganizing. If only to protect themselves from creditors.

 

That carrot dangling in front of the horse ($600 OBC) would likely go by the wayside. It's a marketing tool to get pax from requesting refunds. 

 

Nothing is ever free , no company can hand out free money in this case and be profitable. The consumer will pay for it in the end.

Who is the horse?😏  The consumer always pays, if there is a change coming in the “new” process, it will be NCL that leads the way.  While sad, it certainly is not boring to see how different lines are approaching the Armageddon.

When US cruises Start with 50% (?) capacity that’s approx 2,000 pax- Scary!

Clever how that works - you can't buy Cheers in advance using OBC, so won't get the discount on the program. Can't get a rebate charging shore excursions to the Barclay Carnival Card. Or internet access. You'll miss out on any Spa pre-sale discounts. Many cruisers will look at it as monopoly money and blow through it and more

Yep, we still have our Oct - Hawaii 15 nites on the Miracle. We know that will be our next refund request. (But our last refunds, for the Mardi Gras, only took 10 days!)

yes I was...  Uncruise does not fall under CDC'S orders!!   They only needed permission from the coast guard..

What happens if someone previously had their cruise cancelled, received the $600 OBC, rebooked for October and then had their oct. cruise cancelled? Will Carnival then offer an additional $600 credit ($1200 total)?
