Carnival is allowing it. As is rcl, though rcl has it in writing and a form to do it yourself online.

Just because you think carnival shouldn't allow it, doesnt mean carnival wouldnt. The only time I book 4 day cruises is if I have it as part of a b2b, but how far you live from the port etc might be a factor.

Thanks for the clarification on that. I thought I read that they're doing that and i'd be surprised if they stopped it while we're still in this pandemic.

I booked Carnival spirit for 2021 under the super saver code KSV.

in super saver, the deposit is non refundable and non transferable.

when there was a big price drop, I tried to get my non-refundable deposit transferred to the lower price on the very same Cruise, but it was not allowed.

because my super saver code does not allow any price modification or transfer.

And this was for the very same sailing on the same ship on the same day, only lower price.

If your booking is under the early saver rate, then all price modifications are allowed

I've never run into a code that didnt allow price drops before final payment.

My TA booked mine so I cant see the code, but I've have called back. My price for sept 2021 seemed glued in place. No change.

Super saver code is the best price but the cabin is a guarantee. you cannot choose your cabin.
In this, price modifications and price drops are not allowed

In early saver, you can actually choose your cabin.
And price modifications are allowed.

So could you choose your cabin? If so then you have the early saver code on which price modifications and price drops are both allowed

I know nobody can answer this officially, but do you think it's possible for Carnival to be understanding and if I let them know i'm not comfortable sailing with masks etc, that they will offer a refund under those circumstances if they do indeed sail?

I know no one can know this, but if they do sail i'm going to ask if they can grant me a refund and let them know i'm too uncomfortable booking for a later date until I see cruising resumes successfully after a few months and i'd hate to lose that $200. 😞

No they won’t. My final payment was due August 30 For November 14 sailing. Had I canceled because I want to know what the Covid rules are going to be there we’re still going to hold my nonrefundable deposit.

Correct, that is exactly what I said.

If OP cancels or if the ship sails as scheduled, they won't refund or transfer the non refundable deposit.

I believe they will allow me to transfer my deposit even if it sails.

I was able to get an extension for 2weeks. The great representative I spoke suggested I call again a few days before the 30th to request another extension. Said no guarantees but might be able to. I called this morning and another great customer service representative extended it another 2 weeks. I did make a payment the other day.

She did say they’re all waiting to see if the CDC extends the no sail ban another month or 2. They let them know 1st of August last time she said. Hopefully we’ll all get information soon so we can plan.
I’ll go we’re a mask. I just want to know what to expect and prepare for.

Let's be rational here. While we don't know 100% of specifics, it's safe to bet on masks,  tests, social distancing, and cruise sponsored excursions for at least the next 9 months to a year.

So, if you don't like those things, go ahead and cancel.

That's perhaps a tad pessimistic. I wouldn't say it's a safe bet we'll need all those things in 7 or 8 months. If a vaccine is released by the end of the year, one would expect it will be widely distributed to those who want it by March or April. And If that vaccine or vaccines turn(s) out to highly effective, and If Carnival were to require a vaccination to be allowed to cruise, I could see masks and social distancing perhaps not being required in the spring since all the passengers would be largely immune to Covid. A lot of "If"s, but no single one of them is that much of a long shot to be implausible.

Even in that case I'd expect they'll want a Covid test before boarding. And whether cruisers would be limited to cruise sponsored excursions would largely depend on the restrictions set by each individual port of call, and thus are likely to be varied and unpredictable.

On the other hand, if the vaccines fail their trials or turn out to be only 50% or 60% effective, there would be no reason to believe such restrictions wouldn't go on beyond 9 to 12 months either. Though you did say "at least".

JnJ says first vaccine should be out in Nov, though not enough for all right off, moderna says early 2021.

My question is about people who have gotten the virus a 2nd time, what effect will a vaccine have that produces antibodies if you can get it again. I think it's a question of learning to live with it. For some it might mean no more cruising. Like the OP.

They say a vaccine could potentially be more effective than just having antigens from being infected, but the explanation was technical enough that I didn't really follow it.

I'm wondering if you will be allowed to get more than one type of the vaccine.. I'd like to be protected as much as possible.

I dont think cruises will be safe from covid any more than they are safe from picking up other things. Just safer and more ways to deal with it if you get it.

If I were you, I would wait for Carnival to cancel and get $600 extra

Or, if Carnival cancels, you can just take the refund.   Which is what I'm going to do because I booked a casino rate and it's nowhere near enough to make an impact on the rising rates of next year.

If you're expecting special treatment because you're special....you won't get it.

They will give/allow exactly what the rules allow.

Nowhere did I even infer that i'm expecting "special treatment". Please don't make false assumptions about me. I'm merely going by the history of Carnival's policy where they allowed passengers to move their current booking to a later date without penalty.

As of right now, I am perfectly able to do that with my current booking while Carnival is expecting to sail in November. So it's certainly not expecting "special treatment." It's expecting what's already being granted by them.

Just want to give an update. I contacted Carnival (it took them 3 days to respond, but I do understand they're backed up, which was why I came here to ask my question).

In any case, the rep confirmed to me that I can definitely move my non refundable deposit to any later sailing without penalty that I choose even if my November 30 cruise still sails.

So i'll wait until a day before my 9/16 final payment is due and if the sailing isn't cancelled, then i'll just move it to that December 2022 sailing to not forfeit the deposit.

In my opinion a non refundable deposit is also not transferable.

If Carnival actually sails on 30th November, I don't think they will let you transfer your deposit to another Cruise in 2022

Well, that's, like, your opinion, man.

And has been proven wrong with all the folks reporting here that Carnival is letting them re-book into the future and transferring their deposits.

So it appears Carnival disagrees with your opinion.  I'm gonna go with Carnival on this one.

Everything you guys are saying is correct.  My PVP confirmed today that she could move my entire balance from our existing November '20 cruise over to another booking.  We chose to hang in.

We have a 7-day Legend cruise booked for the week of Thanksgiving and our final payment was due last Monday. I had waited as long as possible to not pay it, but finally did. It seems doubtful the Legend will sail, but if it is cancelled we have already dealt with 3 cancelled Carnival cruises and easily took care of moving those bookings and getting our FCC and OBC with quick phone calls to the casino promotions number (no waiting time either on the phone). We know the drill and will just deal with it if it is cancelled. We also have dealt with 3 cancelled Holland America cruises (first due to Covid-19 and the other two because they sold the ship) and definitely not so easy to deal with. Phone calls not possible, we just had to wait for our FCC and it took 5 months to finally get the email with our FCC. Once we had it, I called our PCC and she moved it to our booked HAL cruise in April 2021.

According to this article the Legend will sail on November 29 -

Have you received any notification from Carnival for your sailing?

I just called Carnival for my 11/15/20 sailing on the Carnival Legend from Tampa which I paid $250 under early saver for a 7 day cruise.  I was given a 2 week extension for final payment which was originally due on 9/1 and is now 9/15.  The only thing thing I have a problem with is that I was told I would loose my $250 deposit after 9/1.  Another option I was give is to transfer $150 toward payment on my November 2021 cruise that I previously booked and loose $100 ($50 per person) if I cancel the cruise by tomorrow.  I am weighing my options and will probably call back tomorrow.

I only received an email about final payment a couple weeks ago.  The agent told me there was no plans to cancel the 11/15/20 cruise.

Which means zippety do dah. They always say this and keep cancelling.

We all keep hoping they quit cancelling, but not holding my breath.
