Majestic Princess - Nightclub?

I was on a Majestic ship tour once and the PCL representative mentioned the ship did not have a dedicated night club since it was designed for Chinese market (a market which doesn't usually have too much to do with nightclubs)

Apparently they used Vista Lounge and Princess Live! area (if my memory is correct) as a sort-of nightclub if needed

When I was on her the "nightclub" was in the Hollywood conservatory (the enclosed swimming pool area). However, if people were slow to show up at the designated time they were quick to pull the plug on the music.

Wow ... we should hop in there as soon as it opens!   😵   LOL

Thanks everyone for your input.

Thanks

I'll check it out once on board.

Been thinking of booking a Mexico cruise as a replacement for my cancelled Sky trip.

I have to wonder if Princess will make some modifications to Majestic before sending her to Alaska and then LA for the 2021/22 sailing seasons.

The area used for VIP gaming is called Crooners but has some very high dividers separating the space into smaller areas - this is the equivalent of club6 on Royal and Regal and Take5 Jazz club on Sky, Enchanted and Discovery. Majestic could easily have that space converted to either of those concepts (or Crooners without the dividers) before she enters service in the North American market.

I also think the Hollywood Conservatory could easily be converted to the Sanctuary.

Many other areas have dining or bar concepts that were unique to Majestic that may see changes.

A lot will depend on how long Princess intends to keep Majestic based in North America, or if after summer 2022 they intend to send her back to China. She is quite singular in many respects and the core Princess clientele prefer venues they know and have a comfort level with

The ship has become increasingly Westernized since 2017 and the "VIP Gaming Room" on deck 6 in the official deck plan is now Crooners. It doesn't fit many people's traditional "lounge" vibes (wood/brass/dark and low-key) because of the modern decor, but it still acts as a pretty lively bar and has a small-ish dance floor. On an AU/NZ sailing last year, it was definitely used a lot as a nightclub. If I really had to give a direct comparison, it honestly felt a bit more like Club 6, but with more people (like on Regal/Royal).

As for your specific requests about "disco" and "rock," your best bet might actually be the party band that perform in the Piazza. I don't think any other specific venues will provide as much of that and also give you a good space to dance and groove it. Just scan your Patter and find some of the cruise director staff who can help!

Well you'd like it if you're after Asian cuisine.... lol

I was supposed to be on the ship next month.... We all know where it went

The biggest difference IMO between Majestic and other ships are the lack of nightclubs, the ability to smoke in the casino when operating in Asian waters and the Chinese words right next to English ones on all signages you can find - also being the only Royal class ship without full MedallionClass experience

But it's interesting that Princess decided to move her here, instead of keeping her for that market.

Guess there are things that we aren't supposed to know.  😵🤐

I know right!

The move leaves the entire Asia with just Diamond now - probably the smallest deployment in ages (if my memory serves previously they normally have 2-3 ships - usually Diamond, Majestic and sometimes Sun as well)

Wouldn't surprise me. NCL did the same thing with Joy.

I would say quite likely actually - PCL is a relatively pricey brand now in China with low presence

They love Costa and RCL... While I don't have anything to complain about RCL (especially with their newest Spectrum), no thanks to Costa from me.

I realize that this is an ancient thread, but I was also wondering if there is now a club on the Majestic where we can dance to rock/disco music. Either Band or  DJ s fine; we just like to dance just not the twirly-dancing.
Thanks!

Looks like you're getting a lot of incorrect answers or different ships.

Here's a schedule depicting where the late night DJ setup is at the Hollywood Pool Club on Majestic Princess.  Lots of neon lighting and a fun vibe with great loud and current music.

Currently on the Majestic Princess to Alaska and I can confirm that the Piazza is the evening Nightclub.  I was told ship stopped using Hollywood Conservatory as the nightclub for Alaska because guests who wanted to sit up there at night to watch the scenery complained of the noise, so the venue for the evening "nightclub" with the DJ was moved to the Piazza.

Using the Piazza as the night club seems like a bit of a push.  I had a bad feeling about the Majestic and the Chinese cruising market.  That was going to be a tough nut to crack, and additionally there isn't a history of pleasure cruising, let alone long distance pleasure sailing (i.e. transatlantic crossing) in the modern Chinese culture.  I also suspect that the requirement of Princess to basically run the ship while a third party did all the bookings and management of the cabin sales was a sticking point that didn't work out long term.

I sure hope that Princess does reconfigure Majestic for the domestic market during a dry dock.  I think the Hollywood Conservatory is a great feature for a ship that may spend a great deal of its life, or at least warmer months doing the Alaska run, but the lack of a functional night club space is quite a bit of a drag.

The lack of a nightclub is not really a problem confined to the Majestic Princess.  On other Royal Class ships, the Hollywood Conservatory is The Sanctuary, which is fee per day usage, so that area is a non-starter.  There really isn't a night club built into the Royal Class ships.  Most times the Vista Lounge serves as the "nightclub" in the evening, but there were other events scheduled there at 22:30 (comedian show, live band, etc.), so it was already occupied.

I think using the Piazza is a horrible idea as well.  I overheard passengers with staterooms on Deck 8, above The Piazza complaining about the noise into the night to Guest Services.  Hasn't stopped the DJ from spinning though.

Royal and Regal have Club 6, which absolutely is the nightclub. Dance floor, bar, DJ booth, etc

It's poorly designed, and became Take 5 on Sky and later..

Majestic, being a one off in the class with it's drastically different design, had Club 6 turned into an extension of the casino in original plans..

The lack of a proper nightclub on newer ships is a distinct bummer.  I don't see it being turned around on Sun unfortunately..
