Other  than when shows get out I’ve never had much of an issue with elevators on Royal.

I've never been on an Oasis ship yet so I don't know the geography but my standard procedure after a show is to go straight to the casino or maybe hang out in the schooner for a  drink or two until the crowd subsides some. I've never had a problem with elevators except on Debarkation day doing self-assist.

Another trick is to go down one deck and then ride it up.  Pretty much the same elevator issues regardless of the size of ship.

Yes when there are 17 decks.

I book mid cabin around deck 11 or 12...already half way there to top or bottom from our cabin.   🤗And in reality...there are 16 decks.  You won't find deck 13 on Oasis class.  😉

I always take the stairs. My record is returning from a tender port on deck 1 and climbing to deck 10.

Royal Caribbean has some great artwork (and some "interesting" artwork) at the landings between floors. Check it out. Eventually I know where I am based on the artwork.

With having asthma...I don't do as well going up...but will hike it up 4-6 decks when I can.  Going down...no problem... "all downhill from there".  😉

Yes, love the art work...and the "secret" peep hole things.

Yea....I get a little irritable after having 2 cruises cancelled this year and a third one in January.  And having worked a total of 22 days since mid March doesn't help things either.

I have had 18 cruises cancelled so far.  Fully expect RCI to cancel my B2B Freedom cruise for January out of PR...then the big bucket list is in danger of never being checked off.  Was to be 8 legs, boarding Serenade from 2/10/21 out of Sydney staying on until 5/16/21 to Vancouver.

Yeah, I am allowed to be irritable as well...but you know what..."poop happens".

No, but when your wife used a rollator on our last cruise and will be changing to a scooter for our future cruises, elevators are a necessity for us.

Be thankful you still have 2 good legs.

I didn't....broke my foot badly first night on 7 night Brilliance last year.  Wheel chair bound for rest of the cruise, and then the next 3 after that.   Healed up now...but still have Asthma which can cause grief.

But I am now back to taking the stairs...giving more room for your wife to use the elevator (you are welcome)...as there are more should do so as well.  Too many lazy types taking the elevator that don't need it...but that is a whole other thread subject.

So, after about 14 weeks on your bucket list cruise on the Serenade you just had to chill for 1 week (doing laundry) and then go on the Allure?  It does look like you'll have to redo that bucket list cruise though.

Just responding to a woman who lives near PC and is living the dream being able to cruise as often as she does.  Having about 25 cruises cancelled has put a crimp in her lifestyle.

Only changed it, not crimped.  😉   Can still travel in the "land yacht", just back from the Keys, spent the month of August in Alaska (kept flights even though Radiance cancelled, rented a cabin).

Spending our time doing some remodeling this winter.  All the money we are saving on lost cruises, going to a good cause.  🤗

When life hands me lemons...I make lemonade.

Will try to reschedule Australia, NZ, South Pacific, and TP for early 2023 as soon as bookings come out for that time frame.  As long as I am still on this side of the dirt...will be something to look forward to at a safer time.

Well if you want to get technical there are also Decks 0, TW and TT for a grand total of 19. Just traversing from the promenade to the pool deck or Windjammer is a slog by stairs. Even you've admitted, it's a huge ship and there's plenty of walking to do without hiking up nine decks to get some fresh air topside.

I try to stay away from Medical in the bilge.  😉

Don't remember admitting it is a large ship...but I agree....it definitely is.  It's a floating city.

Part of the charm early in the morning for me is walking the sleeping ship for some exercise with a cup of Latte to see the sunrise. 🤗

"16 decks" is such an admission.

And even if you stay on Deck 11 that's at least six decks above the MDR. You made it sound like you think everyone should be using the stairs.

That cruise you're looking to do is my ultimate bucket trip.  What is TP?

I never said that...go back and read my quote.  I simply stated there are many that should use try to use them, and many lazy ones that won't.   Saying this after having been one of those unfortunately ones that HAD to use the elevators when I was wheel chair bound.  It really opened my eyes.  Many times I had to wait for the doors to open/close 4-6 times with them being packed with young families, kids, etc.

There are many that do need the elevators, but a shame there are more that can't simply try using the stairs, especially if it is only a floor or two, if they are physically able to do so.  It will save room for the ones that need them.  Is that so wrong?

Now...are you trying to tell me that everyone that crowds onto those elevators really need them and can't walk the stairs at all...everyone?  Hmmm....

The opposite of TA.   TP: Transpacific .....   TA:  Transatlantic.

Still have never been on either, but not for lack of trying 😥.   Allure TA I was supposed to be on was cancelled for this last November, Serenade TP is doomed to be next.  Drats...   😞

Besides the Southern Hemisphere jaunt, another bucket lister is to take a Eastbound TA, stay for a few days or a week and then come back on a Westbound TA.  Don't know if it's doable, but something I would like to attempt within the next 8 years or so.

Sounds like elevator-shaming to me. Every time someone on CC complains about the crowded elevators there is invariably someone who says just use the stairs instead. The elevators are for everyone's use and even though I am in good physical condition I'm not lazy for wanting to use the elevators. I just don't want to climb more than three or four decks unless I have to, I get enough exercise elsewhere. I just don't think your suggestion to use the stairs is very helpful.

Yup, was sooo excited about doing a B2B Med cruise on Allure (10/18 & 10/25) with 10/25 actually ending up being a "President's cruise" I found out well after booking.  Would be another first.  Then we were to stay on for the November 1st two week TA to Miami from Barcelona.  All three legs were cancelled.  😞

Not meant to be helpful.  Was just a suggestion.

Enjoy your ride.

Queen Mary 2, TA each during the summer between New York to Southampton.  I haven't looked at the schedule recently but you should be able to take it east bound spend two weeks in England and then take it back westbound.

Thanks, but Cunard is not our cup of tea.  Too formal.
