$43.00 per day booze package good deal?

Looked online to see if there were any deals for my 2022 cruise for the booze package, and saw it being $43.00 per person.. so should I get it or wait??

Since Royal is notorious with their sliding scale regarding the time of year and the ship you're on, do you mind divulging that information?  We had an Oasis sailing this past August that was cancelled that we're thinking about re-booking for September of 2022.

I don't care how lucrative any on board packages are, I'm not spending another dime until I'm positive cruises are up and running.

I agree with you but if someone is taking  a chance booking a  cruise, even pessimistic me would take a gamble and jump on that deal.   When cruising starts back up I don't think we will see these prices.

RC will let you have different pkgs if you call. Celebrity doesn’t require same package. If you order online with Celebrity, you only select passenger who package is for. No phone calls. Packages aren’t the same on all cruise lines.

No need to do anything on Celebrity.  Their new 3 tier pricing includes the drink package for all 3 tiers.  Tier 1 includes the basic drink package, gratuities and wifi.

Princess is charging 80 a day per cabin of two for their Plus package.  It's 40 pp per day and after factoring out the 14.50 in grats, for 25.50 a day you get the drinks package and wifi.  That is a no brainer.

Correct:  I keep forgetting that total shown when I research a cruise is for two people.

I think the $43 is a great price and I'm a light drinker. Once I've done 2 bottles of water, a specialty tea or two and two or three glasses or wine, it's covered.

I have a NEW GOAL! I'm going to use the rest of my Covid time to see if I can build up my tolerance to alcohol so I can make the drink package "worth it".

Its not a no brainer. If you go on a 7 day cruise wifi will only cost you 59.99 and gratuities you can cancel at the front desk. We cancel the gratuities and leave usually $50 to our cabin Stewart, 20$ to waiter and around another 50$ for all small tips on the ship. So wifi and tips together is 180$.

Consider you need to spend 80$ x 7 that's 560$ for the package for 2 people that leaves 380$ for alcohol or about 190$ each for 7 days thats about 2 alcohol drinks and 1 non a day. That's average you forget the following very basic rules:

- casino events you can get free drinks if you make friends with bar manager and casino manager

- meet and mingle you can free drinks

- if you have cruise status free drinks

- make friends get people to buy you drinks off their drink package

- many cruises offer cruise credit on ships often 200$ free, so that on top of the 380$ cash for drinks will be enough to avoid the package

- don't forget port days, often you'll want to try restaurants on the beach or on your ports you won't be drinking

- some days you'll sleep in or be too hung over perhaps so it's a trick to "average" your drinks you'll need to do a very detailed careful CASH to package analysis before definitively saying it's a "no brainer".

I find the older I get the more alcohol disagrees with me 😕 I sleep really badly after a few glasses of wine, pity because I like the taste and the buzz a couple of glasses gives me, but definitely can't drink during the day and happy with the included iced and flavoured water and can easily take a supply of my fav tea bags with us.

It is a no brainer.  You are a frugal Canuck who only pays 120 in tips when the suggested amount is 203 for a 7 day cruise for 2.  In addition to cheating the workers out of their hard earned gratuity payment, you also cheat the cruise line when you wish to make friends with people to buy you drinks off of their drinks package.  That's two rules you have broken so far.  And who cares about what you do in port.  You're on the ship from 500-1200, giving you 7 hours to drink from the package you've paid for.

Once again, 25.50 per day for wifi (which I won't even use) and a drinks package is a no brainer for even those who are light weight drinkers.  Those who have bottled water, soda, specialty coffees and 2 drinks per day.  But, if you cheat the system various ways like you proclaim to do, then I must be mistaken.

You left off smuggling Liquor in a rum runner or empty shampoo bottle.

Skip the shampoo bottle because you can never get them clean enough. go with a mouth wash bottle and add some food coloring.

As long as there is a cruise line offering a drink package I won't even carry a cup of coffee on board. I'm not one to be carrying bottles of wine or soft drinks on board or filling reusable water bottles with the reverse osmosis water from the bathroom sink.

Like everyone else told you it is a good price.  What I do is add up what I drink in an average day on the ship.  Make sure you figure sea days vs port days.  When you are calculating do not forget Coffees and juices in the morning, Soda throughout the day, Drinks at Lunch and Dinner, social drinking, show drinking and late night drinking.  You also have your sail away and special deck parties.  If you like to drink water you have bottled water during the day.

Everyone's day looks different but this is my average day:

Bottled Water after my morning workout

Specialty Coffee on my way back to my room to shower

Soda Mid Moring with activity

2 Soda with lunch

Drink with Trivia in the afternoon

Wine with Dinner

Soda or Water with Casino

Drink with Night Show

2 drinks with late night show

I ended up buying it, my hubby and I can reach the $43.00 easily..lol.

At that price it won't be hard. Don't forget to take some bottled water with you on port days. I also bring water back to the room for drinking, taking medication and rinsing toothpaste out of my mouth.

It's actually $43 x 2 per day since both occupants in the same cabin must buy the package.

If you call up directly you can buy 1 drink pkg and 1 beverage pkg of the 2nd person doesn’t drink

Its been done by many many people this way

I ask for a bottle of water with just about every drink I order the first few days.  By the afternoon of day three I have enough water stored up in the fridge for the rest of the cruise.  I'm a notoriously light packer.  I'm not packing bottles of wine, 12 packs of soda.  I understand people who do but that is definitely not my thing.

What’s wrong with desal water?  We are used to it. About 60% of our water in Mexico is desalination. Never any issues.

Nothing but I'm not trying to pack a reusable water bottle from home and have to wash it out in the bathroom sink just to carry water around on the ship and in port. At $43 dollars the drink package is not only worth it for beverages but it's convenient.  I don't drink those included syrupy drinks in Wind Jammer either. I'm not afraid of the ships water I'm afraid of the glass in the bathroom. I have no idea how it gets cleaned and it just sits in the small bathroom flush after flush. Before bottled water I would cup the water in my clean hands to rinse my mouth of toothpaste. I'm not a germaphobe but some things are skeevy to me.

It was offered for my cruise at the same price. Ended up buying the refreshment package at $18 a day and the  surf & stream  wifi package that was offered at $11.49 figuring I don't drink enough alcohol to warrant the additional $25 and change apx a day. I now regret not buying it as I forgot about mimosas lol. I figure my Alaskan cruise in July will get canceled anyway so on BF/CM 2021 I could just buy it then.
