Harmony Restaurant ?......

Is the Harmony Restaurant on Majestic Princess free for lunch on sea days? If so what do they serve ? Anyone have a menu? Thanks in advance .

Princess posts the menu online for Harmony, which I have viewed. I would be surprised if it open for lunch and even more surprised if it is free. The menu is high-end Michelin Star rated fare and duck is featured. Most every treat on the Majestic from Gong Cha boba tea, Dim Sum, Noodle Bar, Lobster Grill... is a charge. I would be happy to discover I am wrong.  The good news is that currently, Princess is offering free specialty dining.  If you booked your October cruise before the offer, perhaps you can negotiate. Worth a call.

Got the perks with my booking...however online it did say lunch on seadays. just wondered if they changed. I was hoping that the Noddle bar was free....bummer if it's not .

I searched the Princess website for 'Harmony Menu' and found this:

When cruising from Australia, in the past, the Noodle Bar was free of charged. The Lobster Grill also they had free hamburgers and hot dogs.

In 2018, Harmony was open at lunch on sea days, as shown in the below Princess Patter.

 

I don't remember if they have a separate menu for lunch, but it seems that it is just the same menu ($29 per person) as dinner.

Any idea why the Symphony dining room has International Passengers use the Port side entrance?

 

And what is the definition of International Passengers?

This might have been when the ship was cruising in Asia, as I noted 1st and 2nd seatings in all 3 restaurants. When the ship is in Australia, they do have anytime dinning in 2 restaurants.

In summer 2018, Majestic sailed in Taiwan and all the voyages at that time were charter cruises by the Taiwan travel agencies. You could not find these cruises on Princess website, and could not make a reservation outside Taiwan.

 

For some of the sailings which were not fully booked until around 1-2 months before departure, Princess may open the bookings in other Asian countries. As a result I was able to book it and sail on one of these cruises in Taiwan. I think there were around 100-200 non-Taiwan (i.e. international) passengers on each voyage.

 

In terms of MDR dining, the difference between Taiwan passengers and international passengers is, Taiwan passengers have fixed seating time but not fixed table. International passengers have fixed time and fixed table number in a particular area of the MDR. Hence Taiwan passengers have to wait at the entrance for the maitre d' to assign for a table every evening, but international passengers can (enter from another entrance and) walk straight to their tables without waiting.

I did not dine at Harmony, but took a photo of their wine list.

 

Again this was in 2018 in Asia, so I am not sure if it would be the same for Australia / US sailings.

Hi,

 

Just a few observations from our January 2020 trip on the Majestic Princess that may add a bit to this discussion. When we went the Majestic had just been transferred to Australian basing to replace several older/legacy ships that had operated in Australia for many years.

 

The Majestic had been designed/developed to attract the Chinese high-roller gambling market (often with accompanying extended family).... consequently, it has many tailored differences from Western market ships to better match this new Chinese market; mainly food, dining habits, smoking, and special emphasis on the Casino provisions... separate regular, VIP, and exclusive High-Roller VIP setups. Also, the shops are very, very high-end to cater to the (hoped-for) very wealthy guests. Overall, this was a huge gamble for Princess as the Majestic is very expensive vessel... with high-end finishes, and curated eastern art decorations; indeed a unique vessel. Unfortunately, the Chinese market gambit was not very profitable for Princess and it was reassigned from Shanghai to Sydney home-basing in order to cater to a growing Australian market and feature a Super-Grand+ vessel to anchor the Australian Princess fleet. In January of 2020 the transformation to "Autralianise?" the vessel was underway, and definitely needed as the Australians are very different cruisers that the former Chinese customers. This adjusting was still underway when the pandemic struck. Mainly hotel crewing, casino and some entertainment tuning.

 

Now that the Majestic will be operating in Alaska next year other folks will have a chance to enjoy some of the unique features of the Majestic... here are a few of my favorites.

1. The huge forward wrap-around lounge/relation/kids exploratory zone, replacing the normal Sanctuary zone... check-it out; it is spacious, sunny, a has several zones for that can be used for informal get together (like a free catered USA Superbowl broadcast).

2. The Hollywood Club pool area forward above the Lido deck with the a large covered/heated poll unique to Majestic. This is great for Alaska and other cool climate cruising zones. It is also ringed with a number of outward facing cabanas that were are usually first come and only charge extra for delivered food and services. There is also a fully equipped bar and the Lido deck Noodle Bar and Hamburger/Lobster bar are just a short walk down the outside staircase.

3.Lido Noodle bar offers free choice of 2 noodle/bowl meals rotated daily... modest extra charge for upgrade... replaces pizza joint. Good, but room for improvement.

4. Lido Lobster Bar charges extra for lobster and fancy seafood dishes. But the place also doubles as the poolside free burger and hotdog place. It also offers the new pub-grub stuff like the Ernesto Burger for a modest extra charge, but several new upscale offerings like fried chicken sandwiches and tacos are free.

5. Nice, bigger Alfredo's with expanded menu is free. Just pay for wine and drinks.

6. The French Bistro is very nice (extra cost, but worth it). Also good for baguette and baked goods to go... but call ahead to avoid selling out.

7. Great camera and photo center... big and loaded with experienced staff.

8. More spacious seating in main theater.. just need a better place for placing beverages.

9. Harmony Chinese restaurant. Upscale Cantonese that was not what I expected. It appeared to be struggling to get the Aussies into the place. But the food is really quite good, although portions are modest by Australian/US/Canadian standards.

 

Anyway, give it a try if you have the chance.. I think you will be very pleased.

So it was changed for our market then, not 2020, and each year again on its return.
The high roller part of the casino was changed to a Crooners type bar area. The karaoke suits were also repurposed. The French restaurant La Mer was a coffee place during the day. 
I enjoyed La Mer and Harmony very much. 
I have spent a total of 42 nights on her and she is my favourite Princess ship. Although she is the only Royal class I have been on.

Would be interested to know if the Majestic smoking policies & areas now follow the same pattern as other Princess ships. All other Princess ships have fairly consistent areas & policies restricting smoking to limited locations as follows:

No smoking in cabins, on balconies or any other location on the ship except for specific designated locations.

Casino smoking only allowed at certain slots, not at table games or other areas

Cigar & pipe smoking limited to the cigar lounge, no other location

Usually a small standing area aft on the promenade deck, normally starboard side

Usually an area above the Lido pool port side

Some ships have an area aft on one of the open upper decks.

Usually a section of a nightclub if the ship has one.
