I was never sure if they were just saying dumb things for the camera or if they really meant it. Do you really not care about going to jail? Or are you just saying stuff to get a rise out of people? Genuinely curious. I'm quite sure he would care about going to jail and would comply to avoid that fate, so it's just bravado. I'm also quite certain, based on his posting history on this subject, that he does not care about those who have been negatively impacted by this virus. It makes it easier for him and people like him to say dumb things to support their own callousness. As far as getting a rise out of people, I think that may be his stock-in-trade on here. Either that or it's just a bid to up his post count 😉. Edited April 27, 2021 by harkinmr 4

There are many, many, many things about me that people on Cruise Critic don't know, but that's the nature of engaging with people on social media. It's very easy to make judgments about people you've never laid eyes on. So don't feel sorry for me. For all you know, I'm making up 1/2 the stuff I say. How would you know any different? Answer: you WOULDN'T. Try not to take everything so seriously. What I find curious is how much of other people's lives some people think they have a right to control.

I don't care if people say it's dangerous or it's not dangerous. If you believe the statistics put out by Johns Hopkins and others, you can see that 97% of people have nothing to worry about. And when you separate out people who are under 65 and have no co-morbidities (ie like me), the survival rate is over 99%. That's not an opinion, that's a FACT. Period. The scaremongers would have you believe that Covid is so bad, any restrictive measures on society are worth it. Bull****. I haven't met any of these scarrmongers you keep describing. I haven't read any posts in the forum suggesting that any restrictive measure is worth it. Seems like your real beef is because you believe you are not at risk, infringememts on you should not be necessary. If you can describe a functioning society that allows the over 35% of people with risk factors to fully participate without serious risk I'd be interested in hearing about it.

So not worth getting involved in something like that. Not saying I would do that but it would hardly wreck the life of the person that did would it?. Look at what happened in Astoria or was it Sunnyside a couple of thanksgivings ago with the 2 irish guys outside the bar one hit the other and he died. The one who died was American citizen the killer an illegal irish guy from Dublin. He served 6 months in Rikers for the one punch death and he is out now released about a year ago and not deported to my knowledge. You want to tell me that has wrecked his life? Agreed. But I think where you and I disagree (which, by the way, is still allowed) is what nice things, what constitutes arbitrary and what a "few" bad apples are. Let me give you a quick example by way of illustration: last year there was an infamous incident in Washington State where a number of singers at a choir rehearsal contracted Covid-19 and some died. When I mentioned to someone that I was continuing to sing with my choir, I got blasted for it because the "critics" assumed the situations were identical: they weren't. My church choir consisted of 4 singers, not 160, and we sang spread apart, and I was wearing a mask. "Doesn't matter," said some. The h*** it doesn't matter! That's like saying Montana and New York City both have people in them, so the masking and social distancing should be identical. That's just straight-up nuts. I refuse to go along with stupid rules, and *I* get to define stupid, not others. If I disagree with a mask policy (so far I've gone along with them because I wasn't fully vaccinated until recently), then I either wear one, anyway, or I choose not to patronize businesses that require them. Simple as that. I constantly hear people say they won't be required once we reach herd immunity but those same people consistently refuse to say when that might be, which means they're comfortable with masking forever. I'm not. Since this is a cruise website, I'll just say I'll respect the rules of the cruise line, because that's the price I'm willing to pay ON VACATION. My private life (where I spent 99% of my time) is another matter altogether.

I'd be thrilled to be able to say "because I said so" to a child, if I had any. And I would hope we'd show grown adults a little better than we'd show to children.

Now let's see it happen.
