About 3/4 of soups consumed are made. You just have to do a separate shopping and set aside time for Prep Work and the rest is Cook-Stir-Cook and Done. I like Catsup, Pizza Sauce, Pasta Sauce, Sliced Tomatoes, Stewed Tomatoes but Don't like Tomatoes in Soup Form. Tried it once and No More. Don't even like V8.... You like Stewed Tomatoes but not some form of Tomato Soup? It's curious how our taste buds work! Tomato Soup out of the can needs "doctoring" to suit me. A bit of salt and sugar with a sprinkling of Black Pepper makes a difference. Adding a shake or two of MSG also helps. I thought of another Tomato soup that I first enjoyed as a child traveling on a C&NW train in the Dining Car: Tomato Rice. Campbell's makes it and, with the adjustments I described above, it's delicious, I think. V-8? When I first tried it, I did not care for it. But, years later, when I was interested in the nutritional value it might add to my diet, I tried it again and found that my taste for it had changed. I have not tried the "spicy" version which might cause a different reaction.

Thanks for joining our discussions! French Onion Soup is a soup that I enjoy. It seems like whenever I order it, its preparation varies enough that it is a surprise, sometimes, when it is served. I don't care, when wearing formal clothes (tux and formal shirt), for the "fight" sometimes between me trying to deal with the stringy cheese and the toasted bread crouton. It becomes messy and I end up with a soiled shirt or splatters on the lapels of my tux.

rkacruiser Posted August 20, 2022 #139 Share Posted August 20, 2022 Lobster Bisque is a favorite of mine. Ordering it becomes an "adventure" in a sense. Different chefs prepare different versions of the soup. Even on the same ship, a specialty restaurant's chef's preparation may--and usually is--different from the MDR's chef if Lobster Bisque is even offered. I love lobster bisque but have not found a good one out at sea. You need to cook the lobster shells and pound them. Most kitchens are just using the pre made lobster soup base. natcarbone Posted February 18, 2023 #145 Share Posted February 18, 2023 We had the Smoked Tomato Soup in the Chef’s Table on RCCL Odyssey OTS twice in a week - it’s the first tomato soup I’ve had that compares to my homemade and the presentation was gorgeous. This does wonders for your average tomato soup.
