There is also some wording in the CSO that says it can't be a condition of employment to be in the simulated cruises.  That wording would not be there if employees (unpaid during the test cruises) would not be  allowed to participate

I read it as they cant be paid to do the test cruises. It also reads like some ncl or carnival crew could do it. Or if there were some port people who they could verify vaccine. Easier here in texas. 

 

I dont see a huge problem getting crew switching them around to do it, even if they have to share crew with another cruiseline. There are ways to work around the florida dont ask the volunteers.

So,,, Royal would be stupid to run a test cruise with anything less than a 100% vaccinated ship. The last thing that they would want is a COVID outbreak on their test cruise (other than the simulated outbreak which requires the lucky volunteers to spend their vacation in isolation). Test cruises are not about giving out free vacations, it is about proving that you can prevent COVID through your processes. Royal already has a back eye for the outbreak on the Odyssey last week. And the Adventure leaving Nassau in a couple of weeks has been rated Red (risk of Covid) for not following proper crew processes.

Yup. My response was to a comment made that the CDC required fully vaccinated test cruises. They do not.  I agree it’s stupid, but for an entirely different reason. If they’re planning on running less than fully vaccinated cruises they are going to risk a COVID outbreak and it could end up a media fiasco anyway. Just postponing the inevitable.

Dont see the problem with the test cruises.

Wouldnt make sense to have crew do test cruises.  They need outsiders that wont know the specific protocol/instructions that crew will have to do with test cruises.

Oh no that's not good to hear Adventure is currently rated red.  Dont they sail on june 12th?

They have been asking for volunteers for 5 months . We received an email to sign up back in January .

They are saying that they currently have ~250,000 people who have volunteered. 

 

Three things are certain:

1) If the best way to get to a full fleet schedule is by requiring only fully vaccinated passengers between now and when the CSO expires in November, RCL will go with the same statements for all of their U.S. ports that they currently have with Seattle, and will start sailing as soon as they have vaccinated crews, and

2) They have a stable of lawyers that would love to tangle with the state of Florida if Florida decides to fine them, and

3) By the time any litigation makes it to court, the CSO will be a distant memory and the entire controversy will be moot.

 

Bottom line - When cruises re-start they will have the 12 and over vaccination requirement in place for all U.S. cruises.

I think you mean Odyssey OTS that was scheduled to do their inaugural cruises out of Haifa, Israel starting this June.  They supposedly cancelled these sailings due to unrest in Israel. 

While they had been cruising around Europe for whatever 4 or 5 crew tested positive and were supposedly dropped off in Spain before making their TA crossing to FL where crew is scheduled to get vaccinated.

I havent heard of Quantum in Singapore having any issues, have you?

You are correct, it was Odyssey; Quantum has had no real issues.

Adventure being rated “red” has absolutely no meaning. It’s red because RCG has not submitted the ship to CDC for USA embarkation.

Yes you are right my mistake it was Odyssey . Very disappointing to RCCL but now they will fight for the Vaccine requirement and legal wise they are prepared to fight or leave Florida for the Bahamas .
