Will You cancel Your Upcoming Cruises if Royal Caribbean Doesn't Require Vaccinations

Thoroughly disgusted by Royal Caribbean's latest decision not to require vaccinations. Just curious how many people Royal can expect to cancel their cruises in the near future if the this dangerous policy stays in place.

I am vaccinated and more than comfortable going on a ship that has unvaccinated people on it.  I think more than enough people are comfortable and ready to cruise again.  If you are not comfortable then you should not be going and choose another line that works for you.

My preference is for everyone, or as close to everyone as reasonably can be expected, to be vaccinated.  I would not want to see my vacation impaired because somebody chose not to take the vaccine, when they were eligible to do so.  That being said, I'll travel.  I can only take care of myself.

The problem with the question is it doesn't show all the facts. I am vaccinated and am perfectly fine going on a cruise with vaccinated people...but as a vaccinated person am I comfortable going on a cruise where I have to wear a mask everywhere and can't see shows due to capacity limits and might need to eat dinner at 4pm since they have to have more seating in the dining room to fit everyone spaced out?...not sure.

100% this.  And I'm burned out from arguing the need to vax to people who just don't care.  I decided I don't care about them, but do feel bad for the ones who for legit reasons cannot tolerate it, and small children.  Those are the reasons for the rest of us to step up.

This is a safety issue, not a human rights or liberties issue. 
 

My right to be safe and enjoy a vacation should not be trumped by people refusing to get vaccinated and wanting the same treatment as those that are. 
 

This is a bait and switch. We all booked cruises under the policy of vaccines. Now they just decide to change it?  Irresponsible and unconscionable.

Yep, this is my take as well.  For me, it's not quite as black & white as "yes, I'll cancel" or "no, I won't." I intend to wait and see how things unfold. I've been fully vaccinated for months, and as badly as I want to cruise, I just don't think it would be worth it for me under certain masking/social distancing circumstances.

We will continue to cruise regardless. Y'all are welcome to stay home if you don't want  to cruise. Your choice is entirely yours and yours alone.

The vaccination status of others will not affect my choice to cruise. The only reason the coronavirus affected it is because they were shut down.

I am furious that Royal has chosen this path. As a vaccinated person, I am not concerned about my safety around others. What concerns me is the probability of being subjected to onerous regulations put in place because the CDC threshold for vaccinated persons is not reached. I could not enjoy a cruise if I were required to were a mask anywhere on board. It would be okay If people who will not certify that they are vaccinated are restricted to certain areas on the ship, but I don’t want them ruining my cruise! I want to be able to socialize while onboard, and if I find the protocols are too restrictive, I will cancel my cruises.

All but 2 of the 14 cruises my husband have reserved were booked under the ‘Cruise with Confidence’ policy which allows us to cancel 2 days ahead of the sailing and receive a credit for a future cruise. We are retired and have a lot of leeway, so we are not concerned about cancelling if we don’t feel it will be an enjoyable experience.

When Royal decided to do test cruises....they had already made the decision to go No Vax. Why would anyone think differently??

My cruise had to be shifted to next year but if it was going out unvaccinated this summer I would have canceled.

 

 I now have the opportunity to wait and see how it goes. If in a year things have gone smoothly I will get on the ship.

 

 I think all vaccinated people who are upset about this should move/cancel their cruises and take the wait and see approach if they can.

 

 We just need to see that this can be done safely and without severely altering the cruise experience.

No worries, by September at the latest RCCL will have  Covid outbreak on one of their ships due to this policy. Media will pounce,  images of people in biohazard suits escorting people off the ship will be broadcast nationwide. RCCL will change their policy overnight for fear of being being shutdown by the CDC.

Please explain to me what changed? Wasn't Royal skipping the "95% passenger/98% crew vaccinated" thing and doing test cruises? Weren't they skipping the full vaccinated cruise already? I'm just not following what the issue is?

I can 100% totally see this happening...well maybe not the bio-suit, that might be a bit dramatic. But until I see what the "protocols" are for un-vaccinated, I can very easily see this outcome.

 

Unless the protocols for un-vaccinated are so severe that they all cancel.

Royal originally said that everyone 12+ must be vaccinated, even if they weren't hitting 95%. Now that anyone over 12 can go un-vaccinated, that could increase the risk of an outbreak on the ship.

My Alaska cruises on the Serenade in August still say:

"VACCINE REQUIREMENT - This sailing requires proof of a COVID-19 vaccination for guests age 12 and older."

Out of Seattle still have to have vaccinations, it’s the Florida Ports.  I too am hoping they require vaccinations.  We are sailing from Tampa in March 2022.  We are fully vaccinated but would feel more comfortable with the vaccine requirement.  Not sure how port of calls will feel about accepting unvaccinated passengers. Hope it all works for the best.  We booked our cruise in July 2019 and have rebooked many times as everyone else.

I don't understand why people feel a 95% vaccinated cruise is safer? Vaccinated people are not being tested before boarding....they can just as easily bring covid on board. With over 2k on board....you'll still have many that will get sick and cause shutdowns.

 

If everyone unvaccinated and vaccinated test negative before boarding that would be the best solution.

I’m on Adventure a week from today. Fully vaccinated cruise or I wouldn’t have booked it. 
 

I have 2 booked out of Florida coming up. October and December. 
 

Will be watching what happens, but will probably cancel.
