Rare puppycanducruise Posted July 5, 2021 #4 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning. Thanks for the Monday Daily Report. I'd love an apple turnover, which is probably why I will not be wearing a bikini anymore.😉 Love Douglas Adams. I'll pass on the meal suggestion. Hope the drink tastes better than it's name denotes. But I'm sure the wine is good. Prayers for everyone who needs them. Cheers to all who have something to celebrate. Stay safe. 20
Rare rafinmd Posted July 5, 2021 #5 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Thank you for the Monday (And Holiday Weekend) Daily, Rich. Workaholics need to lighten up a bit. Bikinis are nice for those who can wear them but many shouldn't. I love Apple Turnovers. Adams Quote is interesting. I've been to Nicaragua but not Corinto. Just heard that Ever Given will be sailing soon. I'll need to see what @dfish has to say about the meal suggestion. My alternative is Guiso, Wattleseed Roast Duck with Apricots and NSA Vanilla Ice Cream, what I might have had on MS Zaandam on July 5, 2002 as we sailed the Inside Passage to Vancouver. jimgev Posted July 5, 2021 #7 Share Posted July 5, 2021 (edited) Good Morning. Apple Turnovers are wonderful.I agree with Roy that many shoud not try to wear bikinis. I like the meal suggeestions from both Rich and Roy and the wine sounds great. Never heard of the drink of the day - I'll be waiting to get more info on that. The day is starting out beautiful here but the forecast is for things to begin to get wet around noon. The tropical storm will be impacting our weatther for the next several days. Hopefully, it will not be much more than a lot of rain. Jim Edited July 5, 2021 by jimgev

Mr. Boston Posted July 5, 2021 #11 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning everyone and thanks for the daily report. Love apple turnovers and thankfully don’t wear a bikini! Last day of vacation so won’t be exhibiting any symptoms of a workaholic. Never understood that affliction anyway. Funny quote by Adams. I love General Tso’s Chicken but won’t have due to traveling today. I’m pretty sure that I won’t be having today’s drink either. Haven’t been to today’s port of call but look forward to seeing the photos. Prayers for everyone on our list and cheers to everyone with a celebration today.
smitty34877 Posted July 5, 2021 #12 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning to all. We are leaving shortly for Massachusetts and hope the roads are OK today. We stay overnight with DSIL and visit my DN and nephew also.We hope to face time with Camilla and her mom or at least see the latest pictures. Tomorrow we cross the bridge to the Cape and find our way to the home DS and family have rented. Ocean and bay beaches await with lots of time spent together. So excited! There will be no bikinis in my future.Just trying on the bathing suit was ordeal enough.
summer slope Posted July 5, 2021 #13 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning. Love Apple Turnovers, my Bikini Days are long gone, and as I'm retired no work-a-holics in this house. Interesting quote. Only have General Tso's Chicken when we go to the Asian buffet. We've been to today's port, no photos. We docked in a container dock and walked off the ship. Made it about 100 feet down the exit and did not feel safe at all. Turned around and returned to the ship. Prayers and toasts to our lists. Todays drink was interesting to look up. Not sure I would ever order one. The Crapper: Prepared at Rock and Rita—a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, this one is known to be one of the most bizarre cocktails of the world. Served in a toilet-bowl glass and garnished with a snicker bar, this cocktail is basically a chocolate based pina colada. Definitely the most sophomoric cocktail on the list, this drink is perfect for the "only in Las Vegas" mantra. Served in a miniature toilet bowl, you'll get a sugar high along with an alcohol buzz from this chocolaty Pina Colada topped off with a Snickers bar garnish. Bonus: you get to keep the glass in return for your self respect. This amusing drink costs around $25 at Rock and Rita's at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. dfish Posted July 5, 2021 #15 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning, everyone. The wind has kicked up and the lake is a bit active for the kayaks, but the breeze sure feels good. We spent the day in Charlevoix yesterday. Way too crowded for my liking, but Sister Sue found some great purchases. No workaholics here and none of us wear bikinis, so it will have to be apple turnovers. The drink sounds interesting. Today's meal is the most popular take out dish. Too much sugar for me, but hope others enjoy. https://www.delish.com/cooking/recipe-ideas/recipes/a46821/general-tsos-chicken-stir-fry-recipe/ 29

aliaschief Posted July 5, 2021 #17 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Day three of Pop Pop duty and it will have to be a creative and imaginative day if the rain continues. Little sweetheart is still sleeping so we’re being very quiet and enjoying the break. Do hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and had memorable times. I loved Pluggers cartoon in paper this morning. ”Pluggers realize when they are over the hill but they don’t remember ever being at the top of the hill!” Thanks for the report and have a great week.
cat shepard Posted July 5, 2021 #18 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Thank you for today’s Daily, Rich! Thanks for keeping our lists, Roy. Morning Dailyite family. Another gloomy start to the day. Right now Elsa looks to just be more of the same. Hope my fellow Floridians will be safe. My flowers are very happy. And I have not had to “top off”the pool for awhile. An early gym class, and then perhaps a “pretend pack” to see if everything I want to bring with me fits. And fitting Bindi walks in between downpours has become quite a game. Turkey burger and roasted veggies for supper. Prayers for all who need our support. Cheers to all who are celebrating! Stay well everyone! ********* Fontodi 2017 Chianti Classico Tuscany This Tuscan wine has excellent ratings for all vintages. And a fairly decent price. I found numerous online distributors with prices starting at $34.62. You might even find it for less locally. PARKER (91) The Fontodi 2017 Chianti Classico gives the impression of being slightly mature or advanced, even now straight out of the gate. The hot and dry vintage has shaped aromas of candied cherry, dried plum, rum raisin, white chocolate and a dusty note of wet chalk. The wine is quite beautiful in terms of mouthfeel, with well-integrated alcohol and tannins that close without sharpness or astringency. This dark and sultry Sangiovese shows moderate fruit, focused mostly on dark blackberry and dried cherry. I would recommend a near-term drinking window for this pleasantly rich and accessible wine. WINE-SPECTATOR / JAMES SUCKLING (94) A rich, layered CC with intense cherry and flower character, as well as orange peel. Full-bodied with firm, velvety tannins and a flavorful finish. Drink or hold. 24

Rare kazu Posted July 5, 2021 #22 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Thanks for the Daily, Rich and our Monday smile 🙂 Interesting collection of days. DH would celebrate apple turnover day. I’ll pass on the bikini - never wore one even when I was young. I’m going to try to be a workaholic in the garden but that’s as far as it goes 😉 I discovered some cursed bindweed so there may be a few expletives coming out of me while I fight it today. LOL on the Adams quote and the chicken sounds good. We’ve been to Corinto and enjoyed it. We had a private tour and travelled to Leon. Difference between the temperature in Corinto and Leon (which is much higher up) was amazing and a relief for some of our travellers 😉 Leon is very interesting with history and excellent food. I’ll see if I can find some pics. Too bad they were all removed off my live thread when CC changed the format 😡 Hoping Elsa doesn’t pose a threat to anyone 🤞 Prayers for everyone the Care list & for those that need them and 🥂 to those on the Celebratory / Shout Out list. Have a great Monday everyone! Stay safe and don’t forget your 😷 31 1
mamaofami Posted July 5, 2021 #23 Share Posted July 5, 2021 Good morning everyone.Today is the quiet before the storm. Tomorrow we just keep giving referrals to sub acute facilities and if no one will take him because of a lack of beds or because he’s improved too little or too much, we will bring Sam home which means I have to scramble to find a certified agency to supply an aide at short notice. My son took family leave emergency from his hospital in Philly and my daughter will be available every afternoon to help. Then we fight the battle of the $1800:they want to charge us every day since the third of July, having never been told the facilities we wished to transfer him to would all be closed over this holiday weekend. Soon this nightmare will be over, one way or another. Thank goodness Sam is improving everyday. Thank you all for listening and for your kind words of support.I really appreciate it. StLouisCruisers Posted July 5, 2021 #24 Share Posted July 5, 2021 What a group of days today! Not a workaholic, but I love apple turnovers. In the past I was a bikini wearer but I have retired from them at this point. The menu item sounds interesting. And all I can say about the drink of the day is Oh My Gosh, are you kidding me? Prayers for all still on the care list. I especially sympathize with @mamaofamiand her fight with the hospital bureaucracy over Sam's care. So glad to hear she has family to help her in that fight. How great is it that there are so many things to celebrate right now?! It makes me very happy. I have not seen Milady Deer at all since day before yesterday. In fact, we saw no deer at all yesterday and we looked outside a lot. There were a lot of golfers out there yesterday for some reason. Maybe that's why. Unfortunately, I have to admit we have been to Corinto, Nicaragua too. It's near or at the top of my list of least favorite ports of call. I have no idea why the cruise lines go there unless they are very kindly trying to boost the economy there. But the passengers have to suffer a day spent there. I took photos and tried to make it look nice in my photo book, but it is what it is. First images are as the Westerdam approached the dock in March, 2016. It looked like it was large enough and there were buses awaiting for tours. But tours of what I'm not quite sure. Kainoa, the destination guru, was outside on the dock when the dancers and musicians began their performances. This was as good as it got. The street you walked on to go to the center of town. One of the nicer kept establishments Looking for something to do There was caution tape to keep you out of this area, a market. There were some people who had bikes with a covered seat area behind them that would take you for a ride but I'm not sure what you would see. The closest picture I have is this one with the fella on the left sitting on his bike. I did see a few people hire one. In the center of town there was a dusty park where people were searching for wi-fi. Our entertainment? Close by was a statue of Padre Jose Schendel (it says so in my photo book) and I took a photo of it with my DGS's Flat Stanley. And a local church across the street. This whole tour took a little over an hour and some of that time was looking for wi-fi. I recommend the cruise lines find a better place to stop. This was a Panama Canal cruise by the way. 26
